ELROOD SECTOR: Episode Two: Drifting

Clark interposes himself between the pirate and the control panel, just in case he gets any funny ideas about tripping an alarm or calling for help.

Kit

Once she has gathered everything will position herself to cover everyone with her blaster carbine.

[Starbeard]

Vale continues to mentally scan the area behind the blast door, reading for pirates who might be coming out.

[Zhym]

Kato waves his hand at the pirate, palm forward, in a lazy half circle. "You are calm," he says. "You will not fight us. You want to help us."

He gives a little conspiratorial wink to Kit and Vale.

On the surface of the Planet Dega in the Elrood Sector


Inside the cramped Twin Turbolaser Turret, the band of NRI Agents and the captured Pirate have a quick 'chat'....

With the strapping Professor Clark moving between the Pirate and the control panel and the even MORE strapping Barabel Zuul leaning over him with a scary, toothy smile, the Pirate takes a deep breath and is about to talk when Kato waves his hand and 'attempts' to 'Affect the Mind' of the prisoner by waving his hand and telling the prisoner that he is Calm and won't fight them and that he wants to help them....

The Pirate looks incredulously at Kato for a moment, then back to Clark and Zuul and lets out a, "Soooooo, you guys just keep him around for laughs right? I mean.....I think he might need some you know......HELP", he finished by pointing to his head. "Anyway.....yeah man, I'm calm....of COURSE I'm not gonna Fight....you know.....THAT", he says with a head nod towards Zuul, and finishes with, "....I wouldn't say I WANT to help you, but I know when I'm beat." Clark clears his throat and he quickly rambles on....

"Yeah, yeah.....ummm.....okay, so, there's...I don't know....8 or 9 of my mates in the blast door...which is opened by this-", he slowly pulls out a key card from a pocket and hands it to Clark, "-and Calixsus is our leader man. He is pretty righteous with that blaze cutlass he carries-", he mentions a type of elongated Vibroblade; the size of a sword, "-likes to scare prisoners or fight duels with it you know.....and the 3 prisoners are kept in a storage room off to the side. When you first open the door, there's a big open area with a deep vertical shaft we've got a bridge over....just cross the bridge and it brancehs to the right where the main area and a couple of supply rooms and quarters are located......leader's quarters to the left, the other 3 off to the right. That's pretty much it.....not much in the way of booty at the moment, I'm afraid.....most of that was picked up by the Nutrino a couple of weeks ago to pay for the boys out in the Drift. That's uh....that's about it, I guess", he finishes up nervously....

While he's talking, Vale is concentrating on the area of the blast door, reaching out with the Force and he senses a bout a dozen sentient life forms....and something....alive, but not sentient.....something he's unsure of.....

Kit maintains a watch with her Blaster Carbine, but nothing comes out of the area nor into the area that she can tell.....

Kael wonders about the feasibility of having the Turbolaser Turret depress down enough to be used against the pirates, but the design of the turret prevents it from firing any less than at a 45 degree angle, so that's not an option/anything to worry about....

Kato is a bit hurt/annoyed when nobody responds to his wink after he 'uses the Force' to help the prisoner to talk......but then he thinks, when the PIrate keeps talking that maybe....just MAYBE.....the Force really IS working thru him......

Low growl..

"This is to easy, I smell trap."

"When is your friend coming back?

Clark takes the offered keycard, but doesn't let his guard down and continues to watch during the interrogation.

[Monsieur Rose]

Zuul

He nods along as directions are given, losing the thread about where a deep pit is mentioned...and a bridge. "Any other way to the main area?"

Zuul looks at the others. "What do we do with him?"

[Starbeard]

Vale raises an eyebrow in response to Kit's growl, and redirects his sensitivity toward the captured pirate and "listens" to his emotions closely.

[Zhym]

Kato "reaches out with his feelings" to use THE FORCE to sense whether the pirate is telling the truth. His face twists into a demonstrative grimace of concentration. To the outside observer, it probably looks like the effects of constipation.

This is mostly just comic relief, but if some sort of perception-based roll would be appropriate here, please make it.

Kael sort of belatedly remembers that Zuul and Kit knocked out the other member of the Turbolaser Turret crew while he replies in confusion, "I just thought you guys.....you know...stunned him or something? Hopefully not anything worse?"....his voice gets a bit more fearful before shaking his head and replying to Zuul's question. "...nah man, the Blast Door is the only way in and out."

Kato and Vale both attempt to use their sensitivity to the Force to tell if the prisoner is telling the truth...., but neither get any indication that the man is lying*....

Vale IS able to Sense that the man is feeling a combination of Fear, Resentment, Wariness and Resignation......if this is part of some kind of deception, the man's emotions wouldn't seem to indicate it.....

Clark after taking the Keycard to the Blast Door, turns to Zuul and says, "Well, I say we Stun him and leave him and his partner in here". He glances at his companions real quick and seeing head nods, he ignores the man's hurried, "Now, hang on a second...there's no need for, urk-", he grunts as stun rings emanate from Clark's Blaster and slam into him.

A few moments later, they've stunned his companions, dragged him back into the turret and Zuul uses his Repair skills to knock the Turbolaser Turret's Firing circuits off-line. It would be an easy thing to fix...but would take time to get the components and tools to the weapon, neither of which were located in the turret.

Using binder cuffs on the two unconscious men, they quickly leave them in the Turret and head to the Blast Door, weapons at the ready......

Professor Clark uses the key-card and sure enough, the heavy Blast Door opens and leads into a small 'air lock' chamber where a second blast door sits barely 2 and a half meters away. The first door is shut and then the Key Card opens the inner door and they step into what's clearly a massive mine-shaft that's been rigged with numerous make-shift lights here and there and a few haphazard chairs that are placed seemingly randomly around the cavern sized room....

The thing all of their eyes are draw too however is the massive, 4 meter wide chasm that splits the room and a single, narrow 'bridge' in the form of a long sheet of metal about two meters wide and 5 meters long thrown over it that leads to the other side. On the other side, a smaller 'tunnel shaft' branches and bends out of sight, with lights strung to it bathing it in an eerie glow. Faint voices can be heard echoing down that direction, but it's too far away to make out exactly what's being said.....

In addition, a VERY strange growling/hooting noise can be heard coming from the bottom of the chasm.....


*There's no real Force Skill that Vale or Kato knows to tell them if someone is lying.......but you're PRETTY sure he wasn't....

Kael turns around and looks at the wall behind them for any clues. If they have a autogun set up, the misses will hit the wall. Or anything else he sees? A Comm unit?

Kit

Kit will take a closer look at the walls and chasm. Does she think she could climb the walls if need be or jump the chasm? She is a Wookie after all.

Zuul

The Barabel grins and motions to the bridge. "He'll go first. If the bridge breakss, don't follow. Cover him." Zuul raises his electrostaff and starts jogging across the bridge to set a forward position.

[kipper]

Clark remains at the near end of the bridge, his Blaster Rifle out to provide covering fire if necessary for Zuul. If Zuul makes it across without incident, he will remain in place to provide cover for others who wish to cross.

[Starbeard]

Vale follows Zuul, but before the Baraabel jogs across, he checks under the bridge on both sides to make sure there aren't any trap mechanisms for those who don't cross the right way, and maybe to see if whatever is down there isn't going to take a bite as they pass over. He then crosses immediately after Zuul and gets his lightsaber ready.

On the surface of the Planet Dega in the Elrood Sector; in the base of the Pirate Band known as The Scourge


As the NRI Agents moved into the Pirate Base, they each took different actions...

Kael looked back at the wall near the Blast Door they just entered and he saw a small desk and chair with a comm unit rigged onto the wall next to the Blast Door controls, but nobody was currently using it.....

Kit studied the Chasm and the rock walls and figured she could DEFINITELY climb over the chasm, though it might take a bit of time....the 4-5 meter wide chasm though.......THAT would definitely require a lot of running and helluva jump to clear....but MAYBE she could do it....

Zuul pulls out his Electro-Staff and happily trots across the bridge over the chasm. As he gets about half-way across, a strange hooting sound from below captures his attention and he looks down and in the chasm on its floor, about 5 meters down, stands a vicious looking, 3 meter tall creature. It has two strong legs, a gaping maw filled with sharp teeth, two beady eyes and four tentacle-like 'arms' with sharp, bony 'blade-like' ridges on them staring back at him and making the strange sounds while following his movements. As the Barabel gets to the other side, the hooting sounds become a roar and the creature moves towards him and the 'arms' start to lash out in his direction....

Professor Clark had taken his Blaster Rifle into his hands and he pointed it in the direction of the tunnels that led to the Pirates' rooms to cover his friend Zuul. He heard the strange hoots and growls and saw that Zuul had pulled up at the other side of the Bridge AND that Vale was suddenly pulling back from the chasm edge, but his attention was fixed on a Devaronian Male Pirate who staggered around the corner while calling out in a slurred voice; "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU MAKING NOISE JASPER?.....WE ALREADY FED....EH?......WHO'RE YOU LOT?", he finished in a loud, confused voice as he took in the band of NRI Agents.....

Vale had pulled his lightsaber into his hands as he came to the edge of the Bridge and looked down into the Chasm and suddenly he saw the massive beast, which he recognized from YEARS ago as an Oskan Blood Eater....a VICIOUS predator from the Outer Rim who were notorious for eating people and aliens of all kinds! He saw that two of the razor-sharp limbs were being utilized to attempt to hit Zuul...the other two were coming for him!......

Kato suddenly could SENSE feelings of intense HUNGER....and ANGER.....and THIRST FOR BLOOD thru the Force as he pulled up a few meters away from the Bridge. "The Force is telling me there's a serious danger here....we must be cautious-", he starts and is then cut off as the Oskan Blood Eater makes its presence known......

OOC: Okay, Zuul and Vale are on opposite sides of the Bridge over the Chasm and can tell that two limbs each are coming there way to grab/cut them.....

Clark (and Kit, Kato and Kael) can see the drunk Pirate come out of the tunnel and he's about 15 meters away from Zuul and 20 from Vale (neither of whom is aware of him at the moment)......the rest of you except Kael are about 30 meters away from the Pirate, Kael is about 40 meters away)

Kael will try and turn on comms to see if there is any traffic or a system where I can pull up comeras or a floor plan.
