Tabletop group in the DC area?

I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.

Tabletop group in the DC area?

#1 Post by Zhym »

This is a bit off-topic for finding games on these forums, but I noticed (or suspect) that there seem to be more than a few players on here who live reasonably close to DC. So I was wondering if (a) that's true, and (b) if some of the DC players wanted to try to get together for old-school tabletop games on a regular basis.

If you don't want to reply to this thread (and out your location, roughly speaking), feel free to send me a PM.

Jersey isn’t close enough for regular, but not that far for an annual get together or so. Just saying. ;)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Way to far for regular, but an annual might be doable.

I’m in Central Virginia so I’m probably in the same boat.

I'm in Fairfax, and while I'm probably not able to do a live group regularly, I'd be interested in CapitalCon!

Hey Zhym,

I sent you a PM, but I'm in the area and possibly available for RL gaming depending on time/place/etc. Also, would DEFINITELY be down for the annual kinda thing!

I'm nowhere near the D.C. area, but I might be able to make a weekend trip if things ever develop. :)

I'm about six hours away in NC and I'm retiring at the end of January! I could drive up for a day of gaming. ;)

Oh, man. This may have to become a thing. The question is when and where.

I knew someone—let's call him "Barry"—who used to throw an annual "BarryCon" each year. Basically just rented out a banquet room in a suburban hotel. I might have to look into how much that would cost...

Lots of local libraries in the area, if you're thinking a small venue. Some municipalities have those sorts of rooms, I know Glenarden did for a while. Depending on how the commercial property market is, maybe even find a place that's for sale or rent, and has power and water.

I used to run D&D games at the local library in the late 80's. Most of the players were underage and plenty of beer was consumed, LOL.

Isn't it cheaper right outside of DC than in it too?

I am definitely down for a gathering......another idea that I know some have had is renting an Air BnB for a weekend.....this of course assumes that either you're cool with spending the $ yourself or splitting it with some folks you may or may not know so well to crash the night or just help mitigate the cost.

I am cool with helping do that (crashing or not) as long as we're not talking crazy dough here.....I mean hell, if this is a once a year kinda thing, wth not?
