Re: B S (XI)
The gnomes said any obvious doors are invariably trapped dead ends and should be avoided. I suspect Andron and Amun can disengage and that one will stay to guard its eggs. We can go back later to check for any survivors.
Re: B S (XI)
Fair enough. I didn't read back that far
So we're faced with either leave and find another non-trapped entrance (which may not exist), or head up the tunnel now they know we're coming.
I don't know if leaving and coming back is an option? We could rest...but they could prepare.

Re: B S (XI)
I suspect there are other egg rooms further in, each guarded by one of these monsters. We are already threatening an egg room, so I would also expect any available would immediately come to defend it.
Re: B S (XI)
I think it's time for the Obilisk crew to bug out. Look at the stats:
Wake (C3) AC:3 14/24 0/4 first 3/3 second RC:9
Elnaerel (C4) AC:3 16/30 2/5 first 3/4 second
Waesfaren (D6) AC:7 32/53 3/6 first 2/5 second 2/3 third 0/1 fourth (Bullseye Lantern) BS:1
Princess AC:6 HP 1/5
Yrias AC:5 -10/8 0/3 first RM, CL, DM 0/1 first Dead
Lerrick: (C5) AC:5 8/28 1/5 first 2/5 second 2/2 third (Light Stone)
Cresty: (F2) AC:4 11/17
Tlachtga (D5) AC:7 16/35 3/6 first 3/5 second 3/3 third (Light Stone)FF:11 BS:1
Wake just failed his save, the Princess is out of the equation, Yrias is dead. Lerrick and Cresty are one claw-swipe away from dying.
Wes and Tlatchga are the only people with anything close to decent hp and they have terrible AC.
If Wes joins Tlatchga in casting Call Lightning, that's 15d8 damage. Lethal if the dragon fails it's save. 7d8 if it doesn't and then we have dodge the dragon for 9 rounds. (That's assuming that the dragon lets us stand there for ten minutes to cast it in the first place).
Assuming that an encounter is winnable if you just keep plugging away at it is how TPKs happen. More people keep dying and then more people die trying to save the people who are dying.

Re: B S (XI)
There's plenty of room in the obelisk.
But yeah, it may be time to bail.

Re: B S (XI)
Not opposed to retreating/regrouping, but it seems to me the dragon could just easily follow us anywhere except inside the obelisk. And getting to the obelisk will be the problem for many of us.
Re: B S (XI)
It looks like a choice of running away from the Obilisk and maybe it will let us leave or run towards the Obilisk, which is also towards the baby dragon and it will certainly attack us.
It's probably a minimum of two rounds to reach the Obilisk for most of us. Anybody got any ideas?
OM - what's the Area of Effect for the Dragon's breath?

Re: B S (XI)
Sorry gang! I tried to get everything updated for you over the weekend and ran out of time.
I will be hopping on a plane here shortly for some much needed R&R/vitamin sea.
Not sure how much I will be able to post over the next couple weeks, as I will be at the mercy of spotty internet. But I will post if/when I am able.

Re: B S (XI)
Thanks everyone!
Had a little scare the first night but other than that, smooth sailing so far.
We are back to our usual place, so I should be able to get some posting in now.
Thanks for being patient!

Re: B S (XI)
I couldn't remember the bonuses to attacking a held opponent in 1E melee, so just looked it up ... holy carp, that's a spicy burrito!
If a general melee is in progress, and the attacker is subject to enemy actions, then these opponents are
automatically struck by any attack to which they would normally be subject, and the maximum damage possible according to the weapon type is inflicted each time such an opponent is so attacked. The number of attacks or attack routines possible against such an opponent is twice the number normally allowed in a round ...

Re: B S (XI)
I was thinking of throwing my magic cabin on top of the 4-armed critters but I don't think there is enough room in the cavern to do that. if we can back out, we can pop it open in front of the cave entrance and hope for the best
Hope is my new strategy.

Re: B S (XI)
Yeah, probably not enough room, but it also takes about ten minutes to grow to full size.
