ELROOD SECTOR: Episode One: Industrial Intrigue

'Outside' Group: Kael, Kit, Kato

As most of the crowd rushed away from the sudden firefight/melee happening, a few civilians milled around....taking in the sight of an albino Wookie WIELDING A LIGHTSABER and a couple of human companions fighting a group of mercenaries firing blaster pistols in a public place!

As Kit'katarra moved forward towards Adair, she saw the bomber rising to his feet and one hand starting to point a blaster pistol her way while his other hand darted into a pocket to pull something out. She swung her lightsaber with a distinctive hum filing the air at the same time the human came to his feet and stepped back while pointing his weapon out her way. The bright green blade of energy connected with and went thru the blaster pistol as if it were made out of paper. The weapon was instantly sliced in half and Adair's finger pulled a trigger that was suddenly rendered useless. A shocked look came over his face while at the same time his hand came free of his pocket and Kit could see a strange object with a distinctive detonator in the middle of it.....some kind of home-made bomb!......

Kael raced forward and around and saw that one of the human mercenaries was coming to his feet and he hurriedly rushed a shot with his blaster pistol at the NRI agent. The blaster bolt sailed JUST wide of Kael, causing him to flinch and duck down and he quickly noted that Adair was locked into a melee with a lightsaber wielding Kit and the last of the mercs was facing off against Kato.....

Kato saw the mercenary rising up and pointing a pistol his way and before he knew it, he was right up in the man's face and he threw a punch as hard as he could and he was THRILLED to see his blow land flush on the side of the man's face and blood and spittle went flying out of his mouth as he connected with his blow and for a long moment, he just felt RIGHT.....he was VANQUISHING EVIL LIKE A JEDI! His smile widened as he saw the Mercenary's pistol fly out of his hand and bounce away a couple of meters in a clatter of sound. Then the Mercenary rose up and with a curse he threw a blow that landed in Kato's middle and half-folded the man for a moment as he saw stars dance across his vision for a long moment*, before he rose up and faced off against the man with the bloody split lip, but with his fists raised.....


'Inside Group': Zuul, Clark and Vale

Inside the Storage Area, Vale finished up his run just in time to see Zuul, who was atop a massive B1 Loading Droid, use his Blue lightsaber to 'take the head-off' of the poor droid and then see a crate held in its clasper arms become 'frozen' about a meter of the ground and the good Professor scrambling around to throw it open....

On top of the B1 Droid, Zuul gleefully ignited the Blue-white Lightsaber and used it to 'scalp' the B1 Droid, which certainly had the intended effect of locking the Droid in place as its 'brain' was suddenly cut in half.....but the Barabel was alarmed as he was NOT expecting the weapon to be QUITE the light and powerful and he nearly finished his arc with severing his own limbs before he hurriedly turned the weapon off. He heard Clark calling for him and he looked over and down and saw that the Academic had moved to where the crate the Droid held tight in its claw grips was froze at a bout a meter off the ground. He had thrown the crate open and sure enough a massive home-made bomb was clearly sitting in the middle of the 'box' and the good Professor was calling for him to get down there and use his demolitions knowledge to disarm the bomb.....

Watching Zuul use the lightsaber to disable the Droid, Clark kept his eyes on the box with the bomb and saw that it wound up being 'frozen' about a meter of off the ground and he moved quickly to throw open the crate and he could quickly see a large explosive device with wires and a detonator in the middle of it. His peripheral vision caught sight of Vale running up while he yelled up to the top of the Droid-turned-statue for Zuul to scramble down and disarm the bomb QUICKLY!

As if to emphasize Clark's point, Jameth's voice came over the comms and called out; "30 seconds people.....I DO hope you've got the situation under control there!"


*Kato is at -1D for the next couple of rounds from the hit he just took....he can tell his opponent is in the same boat.....

Kael can see the Mercenary that just fired on him is about 10 meters away and concentrating on HIM....

Kit isn't sure if the bomb Adair has in his hand is armed or not....

Kit

Kit tries to cut the detonator in half with her lightsaber.

Kato will move to the side a bit and carefully fire at the one standing over Kato. He does not want to fire with him downrange.

Clark will help Zuul disarm the bomb as quickly as possible.
(OOC: Clark has Demolitions 3D+1, Zuul has 4D)

Kato, facing his opponent, draws deep from a place of inner tranquility and hyper focus. The Force is with him, and he is with the Force! He takes a ready stance, reaches out one hand, smiles beatifically, and beckons his opponent forward to attack him—when, with the Force as his ally, Kato will use his attacker's own strength against him!

Using a Force Point

Vale skids up to the pair frantically working at the bomb. "Sorry I'm late. It looks like you've got a handle on things." Taking his lightsaber, he stands back and lets those who know what they're doing do what they know. If they need anything heavy pulled out or lifted away, he immediately uses his telekinetic abilities to get the part clear.

Zuul

Zuul is equal parts awed and excited by the lightsaber, maybe this whole Jedi thing has some perks.

His adrenaline starts to wane as he shuts off the blade, only to have the situation reveal itself fully. "What do we have?" He moves to examine the bomb and quickly tries to identify the parts and pieces he needs to disarm it.

Zuul will use a force point, the comms check isn't helping his focus.

Outdoor Group: Kit, Kael and Kato

The crowds have dispersed pretty thoroughly as the battle outside raged between Agents of New Republic Intelligence and a Mad Bomber and Mercenaries allied with the Empire continued...

Kit'katarra the albino Wookie/Jedi Apprentice saw that Adair had pulled some kind of rigged explosive device out of his pocket and the fiery, crazed look in his eyes told her that THIS human would have no problem blowing himself up, as long as he got to take others with him. With a thrum that filled the air, she swung her green lightsaber to prevent this from happening, aiming for the bomb and its built in detonator....

She achieved her goal and cut thru the bomb and detonator, preventing it from going off....but she also cut completely through Adair's hand as well, leaving him howling in agony and falling to his knees as he clutched his now fingerless half-a-hand as the weapon tumbled out of it to the ground harmlessly.....


Kael decided to take his attention OFF of the Mercenary facing him with a Blaster Pistol in his hand and instead aimed for the Mercenary engaged in hand-to-hand combat with Kato. HIs shot JUST missed the Merc and then he found himself 'punched' to the ground as a burning sensation caused him to hiss in pain and he realized he has just been shot by the other Merc*. His armored clothing kept the wound from being more serious, but as he looked over, he saw the goon had taken the opportunity to race off and around a corner and out of sight....

Kato took a martial-arts stance and beckoned his foe towards him, FEELING the Force flowing through him.....he thinks.....

The man rushed him, a blaster bolt JUST missing behind him as he raced forward and as he swung a powerful hay-maker at Kato, theJedi-in-his-mind timed a counter move PERFECTLY and he wrapped up the man's fist with his own hands and pulled and heaved while twisting his body, using the power of the other man's attack against him. The Merc came OFF THE GROUND and then went flying for a moment before he hit the ground HARD and tumbled for a moment or two and then came to a stop, completely unconscious. Kato couldn't help but break out in a huge grin as he looked to his fellows....

He saw Kit standing over a man missing most of a hand and Kael on the ground, clutching a wound. Besides his own knocked out Merc; the body of another could be seen along with the mad bomber Adair at Kit's feet...but where the last Merc was, Kato didn't know.....

*Kael is Wounded (-1D to all actions until treated)


Inside Group: Clark, Zuul and Vale

Clark gathered near Zuul and the opened cargo box revealing the bomb and he turned his Academic's brain to figuring out the wiring of the device frantically, knowing time was NOT on their side! Vale on the other hand just stepped away for a moment, closed his eyes and attempted to connect to the Force.....trying to stay calm in a desperate situation....

Zuul on the other hand tore frantically into the 'guts' of the device, his reptilian eyes never blinking as his mind rapidly went thru all the connections and parts of the weapon and with a decisive hiss and yank, he decisively cut several wires; leaving them sparking for a few moments; but stopping the timer with all of 4 seconds left on it......and after a long pause.....he realized the weapon was disarmed and he suddenly sank to the ground, feeling exhausted and elated at the same time......

[Starbeard]

"We haven't time to rest, the perpetrators might get away!" Vale ignites his lightsaber and rushes back toward the exit, looking for mercenaries.

[kipper]

Satisfied that the threat from the bomb is now clear, Clark turns about and follows Vale.

[Zhym]

Kato feels the power of the Force flow back out of him. Or maybe it's just adrenaline quickly wearing off. Whichever it is, he's spent. He rushes to Kael's aid to offer whatever help he can (forgetting for the moment he's in no better condition), leaving the Wookiee Jedi to chase the last goon.

Kit will use a med kit/render assistance to Adair.

Kael looks around the area, sseing that is is mistly clear he pocket the blaster and unbuckles his vest to look at the wound.

Zuul

He grins widely as the adrenaline starts to ebb. "What? No cheer? No wild shout of jubilation? He just defused a bomb in under a minute!"

Zuul slowly stands and shakes his head while starting to follow the others. "He'ss getting too old for thiss crap."

Vale and Clark set off on the trail of the fleeing Mercenary while Kit'katarra takes out two of her 3 remaining Medpacs and goes to work on Adair the bomber and her companion, Kael. She successfully treats both as Kato excitedly tells a tired Zuul all about his 'Jedi Unarmed Combat Prowess' and how he expertly took out a Merc. An amused Barabel tells him he was probably just lucky....and then got the by-now-familiar 'there's no such thing as Luck' that reinforced Zuul's growing belief that 'Jedi' was just another human word for 'insane'.....

RMC Security quickly came to the area and Adair and the two surviving mercs were rounded up and taken to an interrogation room as the NRI team was back together again and they were brought back into the mostly empty HQ building. Jameth thanked them profusely and Parek the Sullustan impatiently wondered loudly about when they could get going to go save his fellow Grey Griffin team members*....

After a couple of hours of rest and having a nice meal that Jameth ordered for them; the RMC executive sat them down and told them what had been learned from the captured. "Adair isn't talking...but his companions quickly sold him out for a lighter prison sentence. They say that Adair hired them for the bomb-and-run job and didn't say why, but they know he was bankrolled by Imperial Mining Limited (IML). They don't know anything about the Griffins, they just know that IML and RMC are engaged in some Corporate War and they're just looking to get a few credits. I believe them."

Jameth looked over at Parek; "Okay then....so, I've been authorized to give you 50,000 credits for your excellent job in stopping Adair and his bomb and this Identi-chip for your ship-"; here he holds out a device that can be plugged into a Ship's Comms system to send out a beacon letting everyone know the ship works for RMC; "-to let you move easily into and out of any RMC facility with a landing pad and no inspections or landing fees for two days. PLEASE try to not abuse that as a license to smuggle", he says with a smile. Then his smile fades as he turns to Parek...

"I know 50,000 isn't the 250,000 the Scourge Pirates want for your friends....but it was all I could get. This group though-", he says as he encompasses the rest of the New Republic Intel Agents with his eyes and a hand gesture; "-certainly seem to be QUITE capable though....so perhaps you can find these Pirates and rescue your friends without having to pay the ransom. In any event, I wish you the best of luck and may the Stars shine upon you".

OOC; Okay, this is the end of Episode One....the main question is: Do you want Parek to come along with you? He certainly wants too and is a capable Starship Gunner.....if not, he can provide what astrogation info he can on their last known position before the Scourge Pirates attacked them (i.e. in The Drift if you look at the Elrood Sector Map, near the Kidron System)...
