ELROOD SECTOR: Episode One: Industrial Intrigue

Zuul is about to ask something, but when nobody else speaks up, he uncharacteristically shows restraint.

He leaves the weapons behind, relying on his own teeth and claws if the need arises.

Jameth nods at the NRI Agents and just says, "Very well, I'll summon Parek now", as he presses a button on his desk. A few moments later a Sullustan walks in and introduces himself as Parek Venh.



"So, I work as the Gunner on our freighter, the Wayfarer and the other Griffins consist of Othel, a Mon Calmari male and our leader; Vala Starburne a human female and our sensors and comms operator and Dunstin Kellan, our Pilot and a human male. Anyway, we had just plotted a course through the dangerous Drift, making several micro-jumps, when we found the mostly water-covered world of Alluvia. It has numerous rocky islands that our sensors seemed to show having high metallic content, but before we could head down and get more detailed information, we got jumped by a Pirate Band calling themselves 'The Scourge'. They used a couple of Blast Boats firing Ion Cannons at us and whoever those blasted Pirate Gunners are, they're QUITE good."

"Before I knew it, the entire ship was ionized, weapons and comms useless and a battered Space Barge then came along, the Flagship of the bunch I guess, and it tractored us in. I was separated from the others and left on a Blastboat to deliver the 250,000 credit ransom demand and pushed into an escape pod when the Boat jumped into the Elrood system just long enough to eject my butt and then it hypered out of the system. An Elrood Systems Patrol boat found me, luckily before the Imperials in that Star Destroyer hovering over the world did, and they delivered me here." Parek looks extremely frustrated at that moment. "I don't know how my friends are being treated and what's worse....while I can give a general heading towards Alluvia, I can't guide you right to it, we need the accurate information stored in the Wayfarer's memory banks. Best I can do is suggest we go into the Drift and hope the Pirates find us and have my ship still in one piece."

Just as Jameth starts to speak as the obviously unhappy Parek sits down heavily, an ear-splitting alarm starts wailing for a moment, before it cuts off abruptly and on the Building Wide Emergency network, PA system and Screens, a smug looking, rugged human male face appeared and his mocking tone could be clearly heard.....

"Good afternoon employees of RMC, my name is Adair Korytun. You don't know me, but I've a wonderful surprise...in store.....for you! In 20 minutes or so, a concealed bomb will level this building! That should....supply.....you an interesting couple of minutes unless you can locate the bomb. Good luck with that!" and the voice and picture cut out while at the same time screams of panic and the noise of many stomping and rushing feet could be heard echoing from outside the room as employees went crazy with fear.

Jameth quickly moved to contact security, asking them to start the evacuation immediately and he then quickly contacted the Imperial authorities to report the threat and request immediate help from a bomb-squad, but was told in a dripping-with-false-sincerity tone that 'unfortunately' the bomb squad couldn't make it there in anything less than 45 minutes.

Jameth seemed to notice the NRI team for the first time all over again, "I don't know if you've dealt with situations like this before, but any help would be greatly appreciated!"

As he's pleading with a desperately hopeful look in his eyes, Parek was pulling up a schematic of the floor plan of the building....

OOC: No, Kato was not able to bring along his sword...though he may have checked it with Security downstairs if you like?

"GROWL..."

"If we work together can we detect it with the force?"

Clark immediately considers that this might be some sort of ruse to clear the building for some unknown purpose... surely not to flush out the rebels, as the chaos among the employees would only aid our escape. However, is he willing to risk his life on a hunch?

He quickly explains his theory to Jameth, and asks if there is anything valuable stored in the building.

I have not dealt with action directly, but from his voice he is feeling superior, that means to me that it is hidden in a obvious place, not well hidden. He is also here, he wants to see people attempt and maybe fail. Can we get a photo or information on him?

Does anyone have explosives training?

Aw man, and I was this close to taking locate object as my next power!

Vale stands up and looks around with calm intensity. "How many people are in this building? We need to get everyone out now." He will use his Life Sense power to locate stragglers and get them out, since his Force powers can't help locate the bomb.

"Although…" In a brief moment, he focuses his vision on the immediate future for him and his friends, in the hope that the future he sees will help them determine which action they should—or shouldn't—take… (Farseeing!)

[Monsieur Rose]

The large Barabel nods at Kael. "Yess. He doess." An unsettling gleam can be spotted in Zuul's eyes as he gets a slight grin upon his face. "What'ss the plan? Level could mean the bomb iss on the lower level."

The NRI Agents move to take action in different ways as Jameth has a distracted conversation with Clark while also doing his best to direct the RMC Security guards to evacuate the building as quickly as possible....

Professor Clark wonders if perhaps this is a ruse and a heist of valuables is the goal. Jameth tells him the two storage areas A and B on the ground floor hold numerous crates of various valuable metals and ores and there is a constant shuffling of these from various vehicles in the loading dock area....

Kael moves to the computers and attempts to pull up information on Adair, and soon a picture of a human male with long, dark hair and a pale, sneering face can be seen, along with a long list of crimes including multiple bombings and destruction of property....lately, allegedly at the beck and call of IML, the Imperial Mining company....probably as a way to offset a prison/execution sentence.....

Vale stretches out with the Force, first using his Life Sense ability, which helps with directing some scared people to better move out of the building and then his Farseeing ability, in which he sees a vision of searching the upper levels and then a massive explosion leveling the building before coming back to the here and now. Clearly, the Force is telling him the bomb and bomber is likely down on the surface level....

Zuul and Kato have little to do during this time as their friends move in various ways to do what they can to help, but they notice that about 5-8 minutes have passed and the various halls, turbolifts and stairs are clogged with people. Seeing the look, an RMC Officer tells them, "There's an emergency elevator back here that goes directly down to the Security HQ room on the surface level....it's not on the charts."

Kit

Kit moves to the emergency elevator. Lightsaber in hand but not activated yet.

Clark is satisfied that the bomber is not likely simply making an idle threat, and joins Kit at the Emergency Elevator.

Kael will ask Jameth to forward the picture to security and make sure each of our team mates have a copy and head to the Emergency Elevator with his friends.

Vale follows to the elevator. "It doesn't seem like we have enough time to find the bomb, even knowing it is on the lower levels."

[Zhym]

Kato—feeling somewhat useless, especially given the clear distinction in usefulness between a lightesaber and a light saber when one is customarily allowed and the other not—also heads to the emergency elevator.

Zuul heads to the security elevator with the others. "If he wanted to blow a building, he would put it in a vehicle or a shipping container. Easy to move." Zuul gets a grin as he reminisces about past activities.

"How much time do we have?" He asks Vale as the elevator descends.

"How much time do we have?" He asks Vale as the elevator descends.

GM: Can Vale tell from his vision?

"Not much. From what the man said, and how much time has passed, maybe 10-15 minutes as the very most. Probably less. These nefarious types like to pull the trigger on 'two,' if you know what I mean."

Security sends out the picture of Adair and the NRI Agents board the emergency elevator and head down to the surface level with about 10 minutes left if the mad bomber was telling the truth about the time left before the bomb goes boom....

As they get out, they see several security guards escorting people out of the building through a Skywalk that connects to a Monorail Station and the open doors leading to the massive Storage Area seem to beckon the NRI Operatives forward. Zuul, Clark and Vale move into the massive Storage area, seeing dozens, perhaps hundreds of crates stacked up or in the process of being moved by 8 large B1 Service Droids in two main Areas labelled 'A' and 'B', with an open area in between that led to street level parking where a pair of Speeder Trucks were located, their contents being unloaded by the droids....



Vale gets a weird 'tremor' in the Force, he's PRETTY sure the bomb is somewhere here in the storage area.....


Meanwhile, Kato sees the herd of people moving across the Skywalk towards the mono-rail when something catches his eye and he stops, causing Kael to run into him and then Kit behind him to let out a growl of annoyance and question....

A moment later, the Jedi-in-his-mind realizes what caused him to pause.....he sees one of the RMC Security Guards has a familiar look....it's Adair! Kato points this out to his companions and realizes the bomber looks back and realizes he's been recognized at the same time! Adair and 3 of the other 'Security Guards' quickly talk and draw their blasters and they move quickly through the crowd towards a small Speeder Cart as they try to make their escape*.....


OOC: Okay, Vale, Clark and Zuul are in the massive Storage Bay.....imagine a massive warehouse/loading dock area. There are 8 large (about 3 meters tall) B1 Worker Droids moving crates in this large cavernous area......there are two areas full of stacked crates; A and B with the loading dock area in the middle.

*Kato, Kael and Kit are about 50 meters away from the other end of the Skywalk where Adair and his 3 buddies are moving to a Speeder Cart (basically the Star Wars version of a golf-cart or little 'tram' like you see in the AIrports). There are numerous civilians in the area as well....

Kit will try and reach the cart first, activating her lightsaber as she runs.

Kael follows the speeding Jedi, looking for cover farther up.

Clark is at a bit of a loss as to where to start searching for the bomb, or even how to recognise it if it's inside a crate! He takes Zuul's earlier suggestion however, and moves to the trucks in the middle area and investigates the first one.
