Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Waitlist)
Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)
Welcome! I'll add you to the forum this evening. We're at six players, we'll close recruiting and stay a Magnificent Six and not Seven. (Bad joke, sorry). If anybody wants to go onto a waitlist, let me know.
(Shameless plug: My Bushido game has openings, if anybody wants to be a samurai or ninja instead of a cowboy.)

Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(accepting new players)
We can take a couple of more players if anyone is interested. FYI, combat in Boot Hill 3E is pretty detailed. Regular combat turns are 6 seconds long. Shootout turns are 1 second, divided into 6 phases.

Ok, you're in redwarrior. It's good timing, we're just finishing up our first fiasco... err, chapter. I'll add you to the game so you can post.

Cool, I'll put my character together this weekend.
Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(accepting new players)
Excellent! Check out the char gen thread. We're using Method 2. One hardcore RPer used Method 1 (straight rolls, no moving them around among Attributes). I like the way BH gives bonuses to low rolls, so that everything kind of evens out.

Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Open to 1-2 players)
A couple of PCs split off from the main group, so we can take on a couple more players to round out the new team. This group will likely be bounty hunters or Pinkerton agents.
If the former outdoorsy skills might be good to have. Riding, Survival, Orienteering, Rifle, etc. But you never know when Pistol, Quickdraw, Animal Handling, etc might be needed.
For the Pinkertons, all of the above would of course be good. Balanced by some more social attributes/close range combat skills...?
No experience with the Boot Hill system or extensive system learning needed. We're all learning as we go along, but we've been doing it for a while now, so we can coach you when it comes up. We're just starting out with this side game. (You meet in a saloon.... The proprietor puts her hands on her hips and points to a sign on the wall. I have to say this ever datgum day, don't I. Ya can read, cain't ya? #1 No spittin on the floor. #2 If it gits crowded, share the spitoons. #3 If ya git in a fight, take it outside. Don't bust up the chairs, tables & the windas. #4 No cussin after 11:00 PM, or after issuing a threat of violence to another guest. Enforceable by shotgun. #6 Yer kin are responsible fer the costs of your funeral, burial, and clean up of the establishment. If you leave the costs to the County, well that's just between yer body, the County & the buzzards. #6 A noontime dinner is not served on Sundays. You ought to clean up and go to church, but you we cain't you have too.
But you cain't stay here. The doors will re-open at 1:00 PM")

If you’re still looking for a player, I’d be interested in playing. Love the genre
Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Open to 1-2 players)
Sure, welcome! We're playing standard Boot Hill 3E, no significant house rules. The players ended up splitting into two groups. The bigger group has been investigating suspected sabotage at a railroad construction site. They're currently in Austin, Texas. Two players setting out across Comanche lands to try to get jobs as scouts for the U.S. Army in Apache territory in southwest Texas, near the Mexican border. I might be interested as well, though I have no version of the game. Also, how often do you need posting?
Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Open to 1-2 players)
Great. Thanks!
I’ll gin up my character and run his backstory/concept by you this weekend!

I am only speaking for the 2 scouts, but posting currently is only about once a week or even less.
Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Open to 1-2 players)
Yes, it's been slow in that one lately. One player hasn't been able to post at his usual rate.

Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Open to 1-2 players)
Cool, I THINK I can handle that.....would I be taking over an existing character or rolling up a new one?
Re: Law of the Gun (Boot Hill 3E)(Open to 1-2 players)
You'd need a new character. We could help you with that. Character creation in BH is pretty fun, IMO. You roll for the usual OSR stats, then get pluses added to any low rolls. Distribute the rolls to the PC'S attributes (Strength, Coordination, Observation, Status, Luck) however you like. Choose from many Skills. Then, roll up your starting money and your horse. (Yep, horses have their own Attributes, and some good or bad habits and traits. It does come into play. 1873 Texas has a lot of ground to be covered).
