Okay, I'll post the board for the first adventure for you to speculate.

learjet22-

I went through your house rules and I have a few questions/ comments.

I can't find my old 1st edition player's manual, but I found my old 2ed. Will that work for the game?

What proficiencies are available?

I DID find my 1st edition Oriental Adventures hard bound (one of my favorites). Can we use a character from there?

(Don't tell anyone, but there's pdfs easily available online. I'll link you in a minute.) And 2E would work for classes exclusive to it. I can guide you with my handbook if need be. And sure, I see no problems with an Oriental Adventures class. Keep in mind that so far you have a Rogue in your party.

Regarding proficiencies, you may have really quite any skill that you want. That's the beauty of it. Languages are proficiency slots. Glad to have you with us!

Oooh, I like that we're going outside the core rulebooks. I've never read OE, what classes are new in it?

Quite a few: barbarian, monk, ninja, wu jen (magic-user), shukenja (cleric), samurai, and a few more. Also a few different races.

Well my campaign isn't exactly oriental, but I suppose that kind of character could easily adapt.

Maybe a foreigner from a distant land? If an OA character is too bizarre, I can stick to a standard class.

Perhaps a character with some specialized training with all the abilities of a different class, but just not oriental would fly. In the main campaign I'm playing in, there's a Rogue character who's actually a pirate. To my understanding, he has pretty much the same abilities as the Thief except for a few flavor things like a parrot familiar at 5th level, I've been told by the DM. Is that fair, or do you think that would kill off too much flavor?

I'm going to pull OA to check the classes.

I am currently considering a barbarian from UA or, possibly, a kensai (fighter specializing in one weapon) from OA.

Seems we're going to be a combat-heavy party! And I'll search for a pdf file online of OA. That Kensai sounds interesting. Preferably I wouldn't have more than one from that because transferring the characters into my setting would be difficult. If you're set on something from OA, I guess you could do it. Remember those 2E extra classes as well. (Psionicist and Bard)

I don't want to change the nature of the game you're proposing by pushing OA. ;)

Right now, I'm considering the following characters to play

- Cleric (ADD 2d)
- Pscionist (AD2d)

If we're using OA, I'd play either
- Sohei, or
- Monk (oriental)

See announcement in Rules Thread for more info on OA. Having read more about it, I realize that the characters there are too powerful with their Ki and extra abilities. If you had your heart set on playing something from OA, I would allow it with some modifications to tone down the power. Sorry for my confusing directions regarding OA. I didn't really know what I was talking about until I read it. (A Psionicist would be really cool. I've never run one of those before, so I'd like to.)

No OA is fine. I see where you are coming from re: balance. I'll get back to you on what type of character I'll play from 2nd Edition.

Thanks for understanding. I mean, OA characters were clearly designed to be with OA characters. I think it would be really interesting to see you play a Psionicist, but a Cleric could be really cool as well. Maybe you could Multi Class. (Whichever one levels up at the same time. I always get them confused.)

Making a map for you guys. I shall tell you your current location:
Right now, you're in Zeolonu, the capitol city of The Northern Realm. You've all been invited by the king to his daughter's wedding.

Cool. I love maps.

I'm going to prepare a cleric character. Any specifics on gods/ religions or should I just make up my own?
