Nope. Feel free to choose your own accommodations. I figured the rangers at least would prefer something less refined. :D

At the city gates he needs to be leashed and muzzled and you are given a permit to take him in to the city but Smokie is required to be housed in the citadel Kennels and Bestiary rather than taken around the city locations.

Sven has dealt with this ooc.

Following up on an earlier plot line.....

Everywhere Sven goes in the city, he asks around about a girl named Penelope, describing the trinkets he acquired to any who might know of the name.

He has a few flyers made up that he hangs around in taverns and other similar places to see if anyone knows anything about this mystery girl.

Sven during your stay in Ironguard Motte you get some flyers made, similar to the one you collected regarding Fapp. Posters and notices can be hung up in various establishments and your contact details (Red Dragon or via the Brazen Strumpet) left. Minus a couple of gold for a town crier to toll his bell and call out the notice as he walks the streets and some silvers to pay urchins to pin pictures on various posts and street corners.

random roll ... despite you best efforts, no one comes forward prompted by your enquiries.

take +25xp for the effort and considerations to a loose thread discovered on an expedition.

Cadeweed
Likewise Cadeweed is looking for anyone that will talk about weaknesses of Necromancers and every trying to understand undead and how to defeat them.
During your stay in Ironguard Motte, you can visit the Shrine to Cromm, the Church of St Ygg and the Temple to Silvanus. Chatting to priests in a variety of ways (one side of a confessional box, tagging on to a funeral wake, calling in their vestry offices), you find that few actual pieces of Lore exist. Clerics speak of times they have Turned Undead and generally any 'life after death' not in the celestial realms is always considered to be animated by evil.

Necromancy (while that covers Healing spells and potions as radiating a necromantic effect) is also not openly practised, the closest you find are some 'new age' trinkets from a voodoo practitioner from Bogtown who can sell you a voodoo doll with some pins for 25gp.

You find an old leathery book in a dusty shelf in the library which details some experiences of undead. How they are propagated, what features they have. So ghouls for example have a poisonous necrotic touch which inhabits the nerves and spinal fluids of victims to resurrect them as ghouls after death though elves alone are resistant to their touch.

Similarly wights affect their victims via touch which saps life strength and energy (levels of experience).

Certain undead are tied to specific areas, places they died or lived such as poltergeists or ghosts. There is more information contained but you will need to study it ooc along with other works gained from each place of worship.

You can buy the book for -20gp or steal it with a successful pickpocket attempt.

You can gain a complimentary wooden holy symbol of each faith as part of your interactions.

So for chronology sake, I have you all arriving on May 29th and spending at least two full days in enjoying the sights of shops and taverns, shrines and library.

Moriartus, Dougal, Cadeweed, Durgo, Fydmar will be able to conclude spell research, complete buying and selling, collect information by the morning of June 1st to travel back to Helix if they wish.

Sven and Orgoth, needing to sell the tapestry take an extra day as the auction is on June 2nd but you could return the same night.

Orgoth

Orgoth would like to go to the Shrine of Cromm after the auction so he can leave a donation.

The Fellowship of Seven

Tapestry sale: 19,000gp
(divided 4 ways)
Offering 2,000gp tax to LK and deducting another 1,000gp to pay Sven back his funds to have it set-up, repaired, transported, advertised, etc.
Leaving 16,000gp or 4,000gp each for Sven, Orgoth, Gerdal, and Isvand.

Gems sale: 6,630gp
(split 6.5 ways)
Sven, Orgoth, Gerdal, Isvand, and Amos receive 1,020gp each
Treyvor, Gnimish, and Truro getting 510gp each

Gold Drakes: 242gp for Gerdal and Isvand (S/O already cashed these in)

Using 660gp from Gerdal's total to purchase six 110gp pearls to use for Identifications.

Totals:
Isvand: 5,262gp
Sven: 5,020gp (previously cashed in his Drakes)
Orgoth: 5,020gp (if you already figured in his Drakes as well)
Gerdal: 4,602gp (along with six 110gp pearls)

(our pair of Soul Gem diamonds are still in limbo)

I will assume G&I will need to wait until our return to update their totals.
SM can you make sure our NPC's get their totals added to their notes, please.
Amos: 1,020gp
Truro: 510gp
Gnimish: 510gp
Treyvor: 510gp

Thanks!

Did I miss anything?

Looks good to me, if you are all happy and some great out of expedition roleplaying to get the items up to standard and sold. The npc share for the gnomes can be deposited in the Ironguard Bank and Amos will take his to tithe as well in the chapel of Arcantryl. All business done, I will address the other information searches.

Now you can play about with the lodestone ingot, malachite goblin head, boar's head piggy bank, goblet, potion of unknown properties, unidentified black rose necklace, a key shaped short sword, rust monster hatchling, several amputated fingers, stone arms with assorted hands, an ornate mailed helm, a one-shot sling stone of unknown effect, 666sp anti-lycan caltrop pieces,

Other actions in Ironguard:

Sven:
He takes the time to cast a Detect Magic on them to see for himself if there is any more to them.

While the others are going to the churches and shrines, he accompanies them, asking around if he can purchase divine magic to be preformed upon the Soul Gems.

He is asking if anyone at the church's could cast a Speak With Dead on them, for a donation of course.
The Soul Gems are tricky to discern probably as a result of the GM not quite being able to quantify them. But this is my understanding that your detect magic might reveal. The actual stones are not magical but through some magic or ritual the stones have been imbued with the power to become a receptacle for a person's essence or spirit. At very high levels, some mages may learn the Magic Jar incantation which comes under a specific 'possession' aura of magic. So that is a similar idea.

By investigation you have heard that Nergal put his essence into artefacts within the Barrowmaze which radiates then his necrotic or demonic influence into the world around, possibly this is the root cause of the undead rising. Linking these two gems with the two shadows that in turn were linked to the two skeletons who committed a ritual suicide, it is not beyond reason to suspect that any soul in the gems is theirs.

But until now, no attempt has been made by the spirits in the gems, (if indeed there are any captured inside) to animate and possess another person.

Speak with the Dead is a high level spell only available to clerics via divine emissaries or granted by God's after much supplication and prayer. While such a gift might be within the realm of local priests, (there is a Bishop in the Citadel); whether he would be interested or able to cast such a spell (and to what end? Asking a couple of questions to someone who devoted themselves to Nergal, Set or Orcus?) is probably out of reach at the moment.

There are other possible ways, finding a scroll with that spell being the most favourable (but also a random unlikely occurrence. Though with that being said, a random scroll with a random spell, determined by random roll enabled Amos to cast a Cure spell on the dying Orgoth).

You also have another (slightly less worthy thought) in that some folk you know have been able to bypass the cleric intercessor and speak straight to the god/devil themselves and that might be a route to consider.

So in conclusion at this point you can realise that there might be value to holding onto the gems, investigating them and seeing what they are all about and any mystery or knowledge they contain or you can sell the gems and leave the enigma to others.

Sven eventually comes to the conclusion that these gems are indeed important, even if he doesn't know exactly why just yet.

Like the shortsword key they found, they might not know their purpose until they find it.

He maintains possession of the pair of Soul Gems for now, thinking they might be a key or a small piece of a larger puzzle he will eventually find.

Cadeweed

Cadeweed will pay the 20 gp for the book (marked off), but is not interested in purchasing the voodoo doll.

He will take the wooden holy symbols from the interactions out of respect but will forget them in his room when he packs to leave the city.
