You have all advanced! And it’s a big one! You may choose between the following four options:
  • Gain one additional Hit
  • Gain one additional Skill
  • Gain an additional Descriptor (Strong, Dextrous, Tough, Educated, Aware, Charismatic)
  • Gain an additional Extraordinary Ability
However, please ground whatever advancement in the story as it has progressed so far. If you want something that is a total departure (Bertie has wings now!), let me know. We can delay the onset of the new ability until we have introduced it into the narrative.

Now that I’ve started using Blades In the Dark-style danger clocks (which I’ve been referring to as Tallies), I’m feeling like I have a better handle on how to use Moderate/Mixed Successes. Also, I’ve just realized that I haven’t been following my own notes on what’s a success or failure, at all! So, I’m returning to the original bands of success:
  • Critical Success (12): Things go better than you expected.
  • High result (10,11): Things go as you intended.
  • Moderate (7-9): Mixed results negotiated between player and referee (fleeting success, partial success, failure with an upside, etc.). This will often progress a danger tally.
  • Bad (3-6): Things get worse.
  • Fumble (2): Unexpected bad luck strikes.
With this, I’ve also eliminated contested rolls entirely. Combat, for instance, is determined solely by your roll. A bad roll will get you injured, a good will injure your opponent, and a mixed one might result in you both being injured or neither.

I plan on only rolling a single d6 Drama Roll for things that don’t affect player agency.

I was thinking of taking the athletics skill, partly because of Bertie doing a lot of running around in this part of the adventure, and partly because I got confused at one point and thought that that was the skill I had chosen last time when in fact is was unarmed combat. The other thought I had was the tough descriptor, which sort of fits with what they have physically been through. I also thought that maybe I could take minor telekinesis, a latent psi power being triggered by contact with the telepathic Ul-Mor. I'm going to have a think and consider which one to go for, although currently I'm leaning towards the latter, but I'd be interested in peoples thoughts.

I'll also have a good think about Stars and Wishes.

As I am at work I can't see Kallina's sheet but I don't think she has Survival and considering what has gone on she should add the Survival skill. I will think some on the Stars and Wishes but I have been enjoying the game very much so far.

Skur Vonn has been doing a lot of techie things - so maybe educated

being on the planet - survival is a big one if i take a skill

but also abilities that fall in would be either - native resistance or relentless

Good news! I am hopeful that I can resume three-day-a-week, regularly scheduled posts again. Even if there are a still more hiccups over the next two weeks, come May I'll be thoroughly free.
