Checking the action thread, there are four players active. Myself, Spearmint, Kwll and Wanderer.

None of us play dwarves and reading the Looking for Players post, it would seem the interest is from players who prefer to run a dwarven centric game and you have suggested another preferred ruleset rather than Lab Lord.

So I am not sure a straight, 'the Henge magically transports you to this new realm' is really going to work for the character I imagined to roleplay in this Highfell game (modelled upon a previous character I ran in the North Marches: LL game).

So for me personally, I would prefer to press on with Highfell but understand if you as GM are losing interest for a variety of reasons (player dropout, more enthusiasm for another theme), then I am fine with closing this game and I will archive Fochelle.

My experience in the forum is that expressed interest in games doesn't translate equally into committed players, you can see that by missing players here. You might find that in a few weeks you are in the same position with Dwarrowdeep progressing with just a handful of characters.

You are the first to run Highfell on this forum. There have been several Barrowmaze incarnations, few if any have reached the epic scale of the present campaign run by Spearmint. I would recommend perusing that forum to see what features you like and might add to Highfell which would boost your enthusiasm and investment here and make this game more immersive for the current character crop.

New recruiting is a good thing. We could all reach out to one or two players and you could message several of the new forum members to invite them here. Maybe get those guys interested in Dwarrowdeep to play dwarves here and then in a year or so when folk have levelled up, completed the challenges or solved the mysteries here, then we can venture as a group elsewhere?

I would say invite those guys to campaign with us here then as Stirling suggests, once the Highfell mystery is solved, you have a committed group of players who having enjoyed one campaign would more naturally migrate to another similar challenge.

I would also think our characters might not so naturally adapt to a dwarven megadungeon. Han the Druid for example is focused towards wilderness and outdoors, so underground is more restricted in his class gifts and skills. I think both Fochelle and Spiridon are geared towards being archery specialist warriors. Snowdrop as a thief would probably transition without issue. So then you are really left with rolling new characters for a new game, which I think discourages players who have rolled ones to roleplay here.

Ultimately it is down to what you Tamerlaine have vision and enthusiasm for. If you feel this is running out of steam and you have more energy for another then commit to that. I would advise though that you get at least 6-8 new players.

Also health wise, how are you? Real life is going to restrict gaming time and if you struggle now, that might not change for a while so any new campaign is only going to run at the pace Highfell presently does.

Also, how long would it take to set up Dwarrowdeep and get new players involved? The scenario of 'you touch the Henge and magically the four of you are transported to Dwarrowdeep', post an action in a month or two when the game is set up is not a starter for me.

Clearly the interest is not unaminous. And that's fine, really. Truly. I'm glad we were able to discuss this openly. Highfell is back on full burners so let's get going. Hopefully we'll get some red-shir...er...more players to join the game soonest.

Checking in here after a long weekend away with my family. I'm not sure I have much to add other than I'm still game here. Player turnover was always going to be a challenge regardless of anything so just come up with a convenient, maybe slightly canned way to rotate characters as they come and go and we can stick to it.

We have a player joining us soon and I'd like everyone to give tpj a warm Highfell welcome! I went out on a limb and boasted to tpj that you guys are a swell bunch. Now we need another one or two more. More cheese in the mousetrap?

I keep seeing Misdirected Request on some posts in place of US Dice Roller results. What’s going on?

The rules in both LL Core and AEC are clear with regard to hit points and damage, When one’s hit points reach 0 or fewer, that character dies. The player is welcome, nay, is encouraged to make up a new character. Or perhaps Spiridon’s corpse can be brought to a high enough level cleric and resurrected, at a very high cost (and I’m not talking gold).
The rules also state players may heal through magical means such as potions and spells. So how does that work if a character gets injured and goes to zero hp but a cleric cannot pray over them as their action or forcibly feed them a potion?

Not that Fochelle can do much this round as she is in melee.

You answered your own question.

The only other person who could have helped was Han but he already stated his intent and left the house. Fochelle could have tossed Spiridon a potion when he was down to 1 hp. Spiridon could have backed out and let Fochelle step in for a round or two. You as players make the choices, not me. Adventurin’ is dangerous business and in this case, the party is taking on creatures a mite more challenging for 1st level players.

We've got two new players joining us so let's give them a warm-hearted Highfell welcome to both thawizkid and Jernau35!!!

Guys, that makes eight characters! That's two more than I'd like but I hate turning down players. I think you'll need all the players you can get in this game. More work for me but better survivalbility for the group (along with providing for players leaving or ghosting).

Thanks for squeezing me in Tamerlaine!

Hi everyone! I've been reading through the adventure and I hope I can raise my game to what you've all been posting so far. :)

I'm thinking maybe a cleric but we'll see what the dice say.

Welcome to all the newcomers!

I will be out of town again for the next two weeks, with limited access to the internet. Can someone take care of my character for me in the meantime?

Okay, the first battle is over and we lost the plucky halfling Spiridon. I don’t like to tell players what to do but I think the group should all rally back at Thatchum. I think everyone would be best served as a larger group than two separate ones. Also I’m going to release Rardi the dwarf, so that’s one less swinging axe.

Make your choices wisely.

I'm ready to post Olo's first actions. Just wanted to check if you want me to just add on to the Thatchum thread, ( as in having him arrive at the town gate ), or if that would be too confusing since that group has just finished a fight?
