If the money is good then we know he has a lot to gain. If it is a cheap payment there is likely a double cross in it some place. We need to all show up and see what he has to say. If we chose not to do his dirty work then we say nothing and leave like we are in with him, but don't take any gold if we are going to skip town.

Dealing with Royalty under the table is always a bad deal. Kind of like our last deal, Remember that Cassius?

Roan looks interested in hearing that tale when Sai mentions his last deal to that apparently he and Cassius were in on. "Now, that I'd like ta hear sometime."

Thinking he has spoken enough, he withdraws to a quite corner, finishing the stew and avoiding the jiggling mammaries of the landlady Wilma.

It is a few hours to the invitation, time he uses to pray through his rosary beads, repeating a whispered mantra of verses. Before he leaves for Count Tydan's estate, he throws some salt over his shoulders for extra luck.

Fahima finishes up her meal and tries to get a nap in. One thing she has learned as a chronic wanderer is you catch some sleep whenever you can.

He smiles as Sai dredges up old memories. "It wasn't all bad, though. It got me out of the kitchen and we didn't die. But you are right in that they always have hidden motives. I try to remember that they also have large pockets."

Cassius nods at Roan. "A simple escort job turned into a high-stakes secret mission to stop the infiltration of the old one up north. We were up to our armpits in orcs, more than once. And those Ogres at the fort, remember? Good times."

"As for this Royal, I'm up for a good dinner and lovely surroundings. Do you think they'll have performers? A minstrel or dance troop? What passes for court entertainment in the isles, anyway?"

The archer slows his drink and food consumption, thinking fondly of the possible offerings at dinner.

Roan waves off the talk about entertainment "Bah, that's not entertainin' ya want entertainment yah gotta get some dwarf women mud wrestin', with a dwarf playing a tune on the pipes. Or singin a drinking shanty."

Zan will finish his snack and say, "Where are you all staying, it might be good to stay close together so that when we return we are not walking alone and can talk about the details."

Roan shrugs "Ain't really figured that bit out yet, was kinda stuck in the crowd earlier an now this whole count business. Might stay ere but dunno if the buxom lady there would want me stayin'."

"Just arrived today, haven't figured out where I am staying yet."

"Me neither, actually. But here is as good a place as any. Or maybe the count will invite us to spend the night at his palace?" She winks at the others. "A feast and a soft bed wouldn't be bad for a change."

Roan shaking his head "Nah, I ain't fer stayin' in no counts place. I spent me first night camped outside a mile er two out. I'm more used ta sleepin' outdoors, or on ships, in taverns an more affordable inns. I ain't much fer comfy cozy higher class livin'."

Cassius and I have been staying on my boat. We have room for two more if anyone is low on coin. It is just a fishing boat but sleeps like a Mansion. When the waves rock you to sleep it is hard to stay awake.

Roan shaking his head "Nah, I ain't fer stayin' in no counts place. I spent me first night camped outside a mile er two out. I'm more used ta sleepin' outdoors, or on ships, in taverns an more affordable inns. I ain't much fer comfy cozy higher class livin'."

Vilana "Outdoors? Never thought a dwarf would enjoy sleeping under the open sky. The rest doesn't surprise me. Tough as a rock as your people are."

Roan smiles at the compliment "I travel a lot so I'm on me feet more an often outdoors, sometimes as a caravan guard, if I'm not marchin ta war for me nation. That er I'm a hired guard on a ship or some sorta transport. Was hired once ta clear out some Losel fer someone once that was interestin'."

"I don't mind sleeping outdoors, but I really like ships so if you don't mind I will take you up on your offer Sai. I don't take up that much room."

Roan adds to Sai's offer "If this place doesn't have a room fer me I may be takin' yer offer on that there boat Sai."

Since the group does seem to be splitting up Zan will try to find out how much a room is at least so he can get freshened up and perhaps a short nap.

Vilana raises an eyebrow. "Are you all really going to sleep on the boat? Is there enough room for all of us? And I mean, enough room, I'd like to sleep without constantly touching someone lying on board near me, if you know what I mean.

Hm... If not, I think I will sleep in the inn. We'll see what happens though."

"At the very least, you should all take a chance to freshen up. You and I suspect I, all look a bit...pedestrian. We do want to put our best foot forward at dinner. As you say, maybe a nice room would be made available."

Cassius stands to go find a mirror to clean himself up, nodding at the others. "You'll all be followed when you leave this inn. Don't be alarmed, I"m sure the Count would just like to know who we are talking to"

"Let's meet back here before the dinner, and all go as a group. Ok?"
