By the way, what happened with the silence?
It's why we don't have a caster throwing spells at us right now. I'm gonna try and take him out before he can hit us with something.

Kayen just shouts a line at his surrounding companions.

"At their rear!"

He starts running trough the right corridor between the slave cages and the wall as he eradies his sword and shield.

ooc: Kayen's plan is maiing his way around to "o5" and attack the slavers from the back.

Hearing Kayen's shout, as Dredd advances he will stay to one side of the passage to let the Elf pass.

Just wanted to answer some questions before I move forward:
The blue rectangle on the map is the two guys paralyzed.
The yellow circle is where the silence spell is centered.
The blue dots are the bars of the slave cages. You can move around and in between them with relative ease. The passages are only 5' wide though, so definitely single file if you are engaging in melee.
Someone needs to roll intiative.
And... Ogre drops the female fighter, she's still breathing, but completely out of the fight and collapsed on the floor!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Yup, after you softened her up. He brought her exactly to zero hps.

Ogre steps over his fallen opponent and moves to the next two closest enemies and slashes twice with his sword; lost in the thrilling adrenaline of righteous combat....

Attack roll 1: [1d20+4] = 10+4 = 14

Attack roll 2: [1d20+4] = 16+4 = 20

Damage roll 1 if hit scored: [1d8+6] = 8+6 = 14

Damage roll 2 if hit scored: [1d8+6] = 6+6 = 12

Day 1– In the complex – 10:32 a
The Slave Pits
Round 1

The slavers win initiative, but the specialists get their first attack(s) previous to the start of initiative.

As the female fighter falls under Ogre’s sword, Freda moves left and lets loose more arrows. Thunk, thunk, straight into Mr. Robes, he stumbles backward a bit, bleeding profusely, and tries to push his way past the male fighter to flee backward. Meanwhile during the combat and orc is able to squeeze by ogre, but the dwarf wading into the combat stops him short with a blow of her hammer! Ogre steps forward to slice the orc in front of him in half. Eljayess is caught in traffic down the middle and can’t attack. The others start moving amidst the cells while Lul, looking confused is yelling “why are you fighting, these are my friends!

The orcs meanwhile, with no qualms about hurting slaves, start firing their crossbows, except the one in front of Elwita, he stabs forward with his spear. The spear misses, as well as the crossbows, except for the orc in the back. He aims well at Kayen, it’s sure to be a hit, but unfortunately he hits the guy in the cell between the two of you. The slave curses in a strange tongue and starts to try and pull the bolt out.

Elwita finishes off the orc in front of her, while Ogre finishes the orc in front of him. Two more arrows whiz by from Freda to fell the guy in robes.

The two orcs in the back start back pedaling, their eyes wide. There’s little chance they can make the stairs before Kayen, Blodgett and Delgath, but they start heading that way anyway. Meanwhile they start to yell for help.

Okay we are heading into round 2. Could someone please roll initiative. Still tight quarters for fighting as you can see from the map. Everyone crossed out is dead or unconscious on the floor. The only ones standing are the two fleeing orcs in the back, and the two paralyzed bad guy, BG3 is the merchant and BG4 is the male fighter, staring at the carnage in your wake helplessly. Not sure what helped more the paralysis or the silence spell, both were used extremely well in this encounter… which isn’t over yet. ;)

The Dwarf, letting out a woop, chases the Orcs to sandwich them between her and the rest of the party.

Don't kill those two, the Illusionist advises, indicating those under the influence of paralysis. They may provide more intel! Lul! Where do those stairs lead? He remains in his position at watch from behind and at the door midway.

Blodgett continues to move forward behind Kayen, towards the orcs at the back that are heading towards the stairs.

All - I have been withholding magic missile on the assumption we will be facing off to the slavers in due course (as Dredd does not have too much offensively in his locker). We seem to have this battle under control and I am expecting the slavers to be tough. Let me know if you disagree? Or are we planning to cut and run with the slaves once they are free?

Let's go back and review our objectives. If it is to get the slaves free, then I say we get them out before we do anything else.

If it is to also shut down the slave trade completely, then we'll need to come back and take out the slavers, hopefully before they know we've been here and killed a bunch of their underlings and brought back that big ass ogre patrol...

And yeah, Freda asked the caster to hold a few arrows for her and he complied.

Most of Phanstern's offensive spells are real terrors against the small fry, but not so much when directed at the BBGs. I for one appreciate Dredd holding his spells (and wand) 'til such a time when some real damage needs to be dropped. I'm trying to save the Color Spray for the next batch of Ogres we run across.

Seeing the orcs make for stairs Kayen will attempt to reach their base before they and hold them off with sword and shield.

ooc: in case either fleeing orc gets too near.

To hit with long sword: [1d20] = 16, damage (s/m): [1d8] = 7, damage (L): [1d12] = 2
