Trollkin (grapple):
Combat Turn 2:
Donn and the Trollkin wrestled in the alcove for control of the weapon. Donn cracked the Trollkin across the face with the top of his head and drew a trickle of blood (damage = 1) forcing the creature to release its grip. Donn now held the weapon and used it to block an attempt by the unarmed Trollkin to bite him.

Bella arrived to join the melee with a well-placed jump and kick that slammed the creature hard against the wooden door post (damage = 3).

(Roll grapple To Hit and Damage for Combat Turn 3 ... 10+ on d20 to hit & 1d3 Damage – players go first.)

Combat Turn 3:
Donn was grappling with the creature when he was momentarily distracted by the sound of a bolt on the door being worked and an angry shout in the “trollkin” tongue. The Dwarf did not speak Trollkin, but the tone of an angry superior yelling at a subordinate transcended language. The brief distraction offered the Trollkin an opportunity to bite Donn for 1 point of damage.

Bella heard the shouting from beyond the door (#11), saw Donn turn at the sound, and watched the Trollkin bite him. Bella did what any ‘lady’ would do … a well-placed kick left the Trollkin ‘singing soprano’ and curled into a ball on the floor whimpering and momentarily helpless. Bella instantly dispatched the creature.

A loud click indicated the bolt on the door being drawn back, followed by a creak as the door slowly swung away from you (and into room #11).
(I will roll for Trollkin Surprise next Combat Turn … party is surprised on a 1 in d12 chance.)

Combat Turn 4:

Aure quickly hissed “The guard said one of the prisoners was escaping and the sub-chieftain threatened to fillet some worthless guard.”

Donn readied the handle of the short-spear as a club and Bella steadied a javelin to hurl at the door. The door swung wide to reveal an angry giant of a Trollkin twice the mass of the one you had killed wearing Donn’s gleaming Bronze Dwarven Mail.

Donn is startled by the unexpected size of the opponent and sudden ferocity of his attack as the creature kicked the Dwarf back and launched a hand axe at Bella … striking for 1 point of damage.

Bella simultaneously launched her javelin at the creature and it attempted to retreat back into the room to shut the door … (Donn surprised, roll Bella’s attack) the door is open, I just broadcast the creature’s intentions for next Combat Turn.

Combat Turn 5:

The great Trollkin started to close the door and yell, when Donn recovered from his initial shock and charged forward knocking the creature clear of the door. Bella immediately rushed in after the Dwarf, followed by Aure, Cyn and Tran (from fastest to slowest). Donn was still wrestling with the creature and the party was moving to encircle the beast to attack the armored hulk from all sides when Tran shouted out.

“Stop! … Possumus omnes sicut esse bonum amici Tran smiled and stepped towards the creature “Can’t you see that he is our friend?”

The Trollkin had lowered the mace it was holding, and Aure began to tentatively converse with the creature.

“The young Halfling has charmed the creature.” said Aure in the Halfling tongue, approval showing in his voice.

(If anyone would like to speak with the Trollkin Sub-Chief, Aure can translate.)

Auréyien conversed with Krekel and translated his findings into the Halfling tongue for the party. Kozazz was subchief, third in command of the tribe.

Kozazz reluctantly returned the armor to the Dwarf. He wasn’t particularly fond of the armor, it restricted his normally dexterous movements and offered minimal additional protection (AC 5 vs AC 6). He objected because Kozazz just disliked Dwarves. He only returned it because it was important to Oritran, and Oritran and the other Halflings were Kozazz’s friends.

Some information gleaned on tribal dynamics:
Kozazz’s doors could be securely locked from inside his room because Kozazz was always wary of treachery from Henrokt, the tribe’s chief. There “is” a guard posted outside each of the two doors to this room (unknown to Kozazz, the group had killed the guard that was posted outside the door you entered.) While the Chief (Henrokt) planned attacks and was in charge of everything in general, the Subchief (Kozazz) held the keys to the food and drink storage … and, therefore, the real power in the tribe (the friendship and trust of many of the warriors). There was a long-time power struggle between Kozazz and Henrokt that had come to blows more than once, but the Witch-Doctor (Straq-Viabs) had managed to keep an uneasy peace.

With the armor removed, Kozazz could clearly be seen to wear an ivory arm band and gold torc as symbols of his rank. A ring of keys and two small pouches hung from his belt (into which he tucked a throwing axe). His hand rested lightly upon the handle of a mace with a cast-iron head containing eight flanges.

A wooden bed frame covered in straw occupied one corner of the room and a variety of weapons appeared to be stored beneath the bed. A 6’x12’ multi-colored rug decorated one of the stone walls.

Asked about your equipment, weapons and armor were stored in the Armory (room #9), rations were stored in Food Storage (room #13) and any miscellaneous items would probably have been divided among the warriors (room #16).


Kozazz described the general location of the various rooms and Tran updated his map.

The dwarf gladly dons his armour, hoping that he does not catch some infestation from the trollkin that was wearing it, but keeps the thought to himself.

Kozazz returned to bed to sleep, now confident that there was no trouble, and bolted his door as his new friends departed.

Bella led the way, stepping over the corpse of the guard in the hall between #12 and the door to room #11. You passed the two corpses of the Trollkins at the intersection near #2 and turned right. You followed the narrow tunnel, stepped through the breached wall, and entered the Armory (#9), where the group had room to spread out.

Within the room you find:
5 Javelins
2 Light Crossbows
1 Broken Crate with Arrows (for Short Bow)
12 Trollkin Short-Spears
3 Dwarven Hammers (1 from Donn)
1 Short Sword with rusty blade
1 unopened crate
3 Flails (ball and chain)
3 Short Bows (without Bow Strings)
1 Suit of Dwarven Plate Mail (rusted together on the inside – 150 GP to have repaired)
1 Elven Short Sword and Dagger (from Aure)
1 open crate with Elf size Chainmail (from Aure)

Donn heads over and picks up his hammer and checks it over "There you are, my dear" he mutters to himself. If one of the other hammers belonged to his fallen friend is one of the others he will take that as well.

He then gestures at the weapons "This is worth taking with us, and we should look in that crate. But we should equip ourselves and clear out this filthy place first."
