"Forget the tank, if we take out its controller it's useless!" Phil says to Mike Mark, pointing towards the cave. "Try the bazooka, maybe you can collapse the cave down on him."

(I don't know what the range of a bazooka is, maybe Phil's suggestion to Mike Mark is worthless, we'll let Mike Mark decide!)

OOC: I will put some more detailed questions in the OOC thread, the answers to which will determine Phil's actions.

Koda will drop to the deck, rolling to his belly, calls to the spirits to look down on him and help him use the spiritual awareness. He will ask the spirit to assist him as he aims for the right chest and hip of 'Sun-Burst' that is shown to him. Then he will pull on his sunglasses in case more bursts of light come.

Phil starts running towards the Maker. At the same time, he concentrates on creating extreme snow, cold, and fog around the entrance to the cave where the Maker is located. [Using 3WP to increase activation chances]

OOC: He is trying for the second version of his power (20ft cube which causes -2D), hoping this will disrupt the Maker and will require less accuracy to still succeed since he's worried he won't be able to hit with the more focused damaging version of the power.

Campbell dives for some cover before the sniper can get another bead on him. He will then test his lungs to feel if he will be able to use his Talent abilities.

7:10 AM; August 15; Alaska Territory; beach of Aleutian Island Kistakuta

A fierce battle between a group of Japanese Talents and American/Canadian Talents raged on a cold, little rock of an island in the Aleutians....

On the far left side of the beach, Mark Battaglia dropped down to one knee, dropped his Carbine to the beach and pulled his Bazooka off his shoulder and started loading it with a Rocket and then hooking up its electric wire ignition system as Phil Heuron nearby raced forward, ignoring the treaded, HMG armed vehicle and summoning up his 'Ice Ray' Talent Power* to try and distract/blind the Japanese Talent in a Cave some 75 yards away who was controlling the device....

A cloud of snow and ice formed right in front of the cave in a 20x20 foot cube at about the same time the 'woodpecker' sound of a Type 92 HMG cutting loose a spray of 7.7mm rounds echoed across the rocky beach. Battaglia ducked down with a curse, but no pain was evident in his voice while at the same time Phil suddenly found himself face-down on the beach wondering how he got there and then a moment later he felt his lower left pant leg get wet and then fiery pain shot up from his calf and he realized he had been hit**......

Corporal Casey Campbell gingerly pulled himself into some cover, wincing at the pain from his wound and taking deep, slow breaths as he wondered if his Talent Powers could still work***.....it dawned on him that while he would always associate his 'Sonic Blast' power with Screaming due to the sound it made; he did NOT actually have to yell or scream anything to have it work.....

Private First Class John Porcupine moved to cover and took aim at the Flying Japanese Talent, but he was dismayed to see the IJA officer moved quicker than he realized and was now only about 25 yards from him and aiming at him. The Japanese Talent cut loose a burst of 8mm rounds from him SMG and while the Cree Infantryman was able to dodge all but 1 of the 5 rounds that came his way, that last one hit him in the right ribs and caused him to let go an angry, pain-filled cry****......

Chisholm called up his Hyper Dexterity Talent Power and his entire body seemed to suddenly move in a blur as he tucked and rolled out of the way as the Japanese Flying Talent flew right over him; though Chisholm was glad for a moment to see he was no longer aiming at him. That gladness quickly turned to anger as he saw the Unit 781 officer fire a burst and wound his teammate, PFC Porcupine with a burst of fire. The American NCO brought up his own SMG and cut loose a well-aimed 5 round burst that hit the Japanese Talent right in the torso. The Japanese Officer hissed in pain, but Chisholm could just now see that the Army officer's skin was a thick, dark gray color....like that of an Elephant or Rhino...and while he was clearly hurt; he obviously had some kind of Armor Talent Power in addition to being able to Fly and was merely wounded as he zipped up a bit; now perhaps 30 yards away from the 'blurry' American SGT.....

PFC Tom Nado, looking around saw that both Koda and LT Hyde-Smythe were clearly impacted by the Sun Burst Power and taking a deep breath, he popped up over the rock he had dove behind and cut loose a pair of shots at the LMG welding Japanese Talent some 50 yards away. While his first shot was high, his second shot hit the IJA Talent in the side and he was happy to have wounded the man, though dismayed to not have finished him off. Tom was starting to take aim to fire another shot when he felt like he was hit by a sledgehammer on the upper left side of his chest and he was down on his back, staring at the sky and KNOWING he had just been hit by that damnable Sniper and his collar bone was broken****....

LT Hyde-Smythe cursed and loudly called out towards Koda and Nado; "I can't see a Bloody Thing, but I'm going to take Flight to get that bastard's attention. When I do, you bloody well shoot him or toss one of those spears you PEOPLE use through him or whatever, right!" He pulled his legs under him and launched himself into the air, flying and certainly catching the attention of Sun Burst as he painfully started to turn his Type 96 LMG towards this obvious target....

Koda took out his sunglasses and clutched an ancient pendant of his people while calling out in his native tongue for the Spirts to help him. As he did so, he had to hear his jerk of a CO put him down, while simultaneously entrusting his life to him.....the man was a 1st degree bastard, but certainly brave. A moment later, the comforting voice of the Spirits could be heard and Koda had a much better picture of the situation all around him, despite the fact that his vision was still filled with spots and bright light*****.....

OOC: Okay, I should've reminded/brought up the fact that using your Powers is NOT something you can automatically do anytime you want. You have a Willpower Skill (everyone currently has 2D) and Willpower Points (WP) equal to the Skill score (so 12 points for everyone right now). You can spend the Points on any Willpower Skill roll, a number determined by you the player. (The points will slowly build back up to their Maximum...i.e. 12 for each of you at this time) The Difficulty number to Activate your Talent Power depends on if the Power is Minor, Moderate or Major.....Minor powers required a Roll of 5.....Moderate powers required a roll of 7....and Major Powers require a roll of 10 on the Willpower Skill roll. The spent WPs add +1 for each point to the final skill roll....i.e., you have Willpower 2D, you spent 5 points, you roll 2D6+5....let's say you roll a 3 and a 4....that's 7, +5 for the WPs, your final is 12.....and you currently have 7 WPs left.

For those of you with more than 1 Talent Power, if you successfully Activate a Power, you can activate any other Power of equal or lower Power (i.e. you activate a Moderate Power this turn, next turn you can Activate your Minor Power for free) for free on any following Turn you have the more powerful/equally powerful Power Active. If you FAIL the Activation roll, you lose all actions that round and for the next couple of rounds your are at -1D to all actions as you feel like a failure/low morale/etc.

For this round, I chose to spend 4 Willpower points on those Activating a Moderate Power (i.e. Phil and Chisholm) and 6 WPs for those Activating a Major Power (i.e. Koda)....and all of you made your rolls. I HOPE this is okay.....in the future, PLEASE let me know if and how many WPs you wish to spend on any of these rolls. If you don't specify, I'll just make the rolls with the WP skill by itself.

Alright, the current situation is as follows:

On the left end, Phil* is wounded (-1D to all actions) but has managed to put a globe of snow/ice in front of the cave with the Maker, which should make his control of the HMG drone (about 50 yards away from Phil and Mark) interesting.....Battaglia has just loaded the Bazooka.

In the center of the beach, Chisholm has activated his HYPER DEX and has hit the Flying Leader with a burst, wounding him, but also learning he's armored in addition to flying.....Porcupine is Wounded (-1D to all actions until treated) and both are about 25-30 yards from the Flying Talent.

In addition, Campbell is in some cover and while Wounded, he can certainly attempt to utilize his Talent Powers (Wounds never impact Willpower skill....though they DO impact if you have to use other skills in combination...i.e. for Campbell, he can Activate his Sonic Blast, which does NOT require him to scream......but he'll be at -1D for that PER/Search roll as the 'shooting' skill)

On the right side of the Beach, Nado is wounded (-1D to all actions until Treated) but in Cover and can see that Sun Burst is about 50 yards away and about to fire with his Light Machine-gun at the Flying Hyde-Smythe, who is still blinded by the Sun Burst effect. I hope these shots were okay as actions as I didn't hear from you amigo....

In addition, Koda is still blinded, about 50 yards from Sun Burst, but has activated his Spiritual Awareness Talent Power....leading to an interesting situation where he's well able to Perceive what's happening all around him (PER at +3D) but still blinded by the Sun Burst effect (-2D to all DEX or STR related attacks he might choose to make).....however, ALL of you have 2 Luck Points (+3D to all actions for a round).....just throwing that out there! :)

The Japanese Talents now have 2 wounded (The Leader....a.k.a. Flyboy and Sun Burst) and 1 behind a snow/ice storm in a cave (The Maker), though his Heavy Machine-gun armed tread-Drone is 50 yards from Phil and Mark Battaglia the NPC.....a Marksman up on top of the Hill.....and the Cloud Maker....nowhere in sight, but presumably in the Hill somewhere using the 'enhancement' device to put up the massive Cloud Barrier.....

I hope that all makes sense, please feel free to hit me up with any questions!

Porcupine
John grabbed at the wound, barking out a phrase his Grandpa always used when the BIA came to visit. As he did, the fact that The Maker was in a cave finally registered. He grinned a savage grin and began moving toward the cave, staying low. As he did, he activated his Earth Talent.

Porcupine's intent is to get within range of the cave, then collapse it on The Maker.

Phil continues approaching the cave and maintaining the snow & fog obscuring the entrance. (I guess it's up to Mike Mark whether he wants to shoot at the cave or at the drone!). Can Phil see the Flyer, and if so what range?

Nado stays low and tries to ignore the pain that's calling for all his attention. There'll be time for pain later—or there won't, in which case all this will be someone else's problem.

He considers using his newfound nature powers to cause problems for Sun Burst: maybe a bank of fog would block out the flashes? Or a bolt of lightning straight from the skies? Or tangle him up in something? It all seems so complicated. "Aw, hell, that's why they gave us guns," he decides, and fires another couple of rounds.

7:15 AM; August 15; Alaska Territory; beach of Aleutian Island Kistakuta

On a miserable, cold and wet rock in the islands off the coast of Alaska, a fierce battle continued to rage.....

Private Phillippe Heuron of the Canadian Army dragged himself along the beach while snow flakes continued to swirl all around him as he maintained his "Ice Ray" Power, focusing on keeping a globe of snow and sleet in front of the cave entrance where a Japanese Super named 'The Maker' had positioned himself. The Japanese soldier from Unit 781 was using a controller to operate a treaded vehicle with an attached Type 92 Heavy Machine-gun and while shivering in the cave, he did his best to operate the remote to have his creation fire on the Americans....

Phil ducked as a spray of 7.7mm rounds whizzed by over his head, noticing that the rounds all failed to hit nearby Mark/Mike Battaglia where he was crouching in some rocks with a now loaded and ready to fire 'Bazooka' rocket launcher. Phil glanced back over his shoulder and saw the sight of PFC John Porcupine rushing towards his end of the beach and both a Japanese Talent AND his commanding officer, 1st LT James Hyde-Smythe both in the air, obviously using their Flight Talent Powers. He turned his attention back to his little corner of the action....

Corporal Mario 'Mark' Battaglia concentrated on readying the new Bazooka Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher and did his best to ignore the sounds of Japanese MG fire ricocheting off the rocks he was crouching behind. When the fire stopped for a moment, he took a breath and popped up with the launcher leveled over one shoulder and he quickly sighted the Japanese drone vehicle in his sights and he fired the weapon. With a massive back-blast of fire and smoke the rocket took off and streaked on a direct line to impact with a thunderous explosion on the vehicle. In a spectacular flash of light and sound the Drone exploded and Battaglia let out a whoop of joy......

Private First Class John Porcupine, hissing in pain from his cracked ribs, glanced down the beach and saw the Phil was maintaining an ice snow-globe in front of it with the obvious reason being a Japanese Talent was inside of it. Reasoning that he could use his Earth-Mover Talent Power against the man by either breaking off rocks to smash him or creating a pit underneath him*, John moved that way and upon seeing the cave he attempted to draw on his power and activate it. Instead, he was unable to do so and he staggered to the beach onto his knees feeling weak and useless and defeated inside**....

SGT Nahum Chisholm, visibly a blur thanks to his activated Hyper-Dexterity Talent Power; took aim at the Flying Japanese Talent Officer and saw that the man was doing the same to him. Both fired their SMGs at about the same time and the tough NCO grunted in pain as a couple of 8mm rounds hit him in the hip and shoulder*** but he still was please to see his burst of .45 rounds smashed into the Unit 781 leader and a moment later the Japanese IJA LT was on the ground with his SMG a few yards away and covered in blood. Chisholm saw the man draw a blade with a shaky hand and he was quietly speaking to himself in Japanese as he forced himself to his knees, but the curious thing was he had the blade's point aimed at his own mid-section.....

Corporal Casey Campbell did his best to ignore his wound and he carefully put the Johnson LMG on its bi-pod on some nearby rocks that he could stay crouched behind and seeing the muzzle flash from the Japanese Talent Sniper on the top of the hill some 150 yards away and he could see that LT Hyde-Smythe had been hit and was now stumbling on the beach, knocked out of the air from the shot. Knowing something had to be done about the man, Casey poured a long 10 shot spray at the man, grinning as he saw the Japanese Talent duck down behind some rocks as his suppressing fire would ensure that at least for a few moments, no more of his Teammates would be shot by him****....

Lance Corporal Koda, still blinded by the Japanese Talent's 'Sun Burst' power, listen to the Spiritual Aides his own Talent Power allowed him to hear and he aimed and fired a shot from his M1 Garand. He 'saw' his target rock back from the shot that hit him high in the chest and before he fell to the beach, a second shot from another of his Teammates hit the same Unit 781 Talent in the chest as well and that Japanese threat was eliminated forever....

PFC Tom Nado, hissing from his wound, rose up and fired a pair of shots from his M1 Garand at the IJA 'Sun Burst' Talent who was also firing a Type 96 LMG at them. He cursed as his first shot missed high, but then he lowered his weapon and stroked the trigger and saw his shot his target high in the chest at about the same moment another shot ALSO hit the IJA NCO in the chest. The Japanese Talent rocked back for a moment and then fell on his face and would never move again....

In the air, First Lieutenant James Hyde-Smythe couldn't see anything but he heard the comforting sounds of several M1 Garand shots and he had to assume that his men had taken out the Japanese bastard who had blinded him. Opening his mouth to call out another order he suddenly yelped in pain as a Japanese Rifle shot hit him in the chest and he fell to the beach on his back, cursing loudly in pain. He heard the distinctive sound of Campbell's Johnson roaring and he yelled out; "Anybody who can see....take out that bloody sniper before we're all food for the gulls on this cursed beach!"

OOC: Okay, there are 3 alive Japanese Talents in the area; though one (the Flyer) is BAREFLY so and another (The Maker) is essentially blind in a cave with one of his toys (the Treaded HMG drone) destroyed. The Marksman is on top of the hill, about 150 yards from people and currently Suppressed....though that probably won't last long.

There is also one Super INSIDE the Cave (the Cloud Maker); whose Talent Power you can all still feel maintaining the 'Cloud Wall' around the island. Onto more specifics:

*When creating the game-effects for Porcupine's Power; being able to collapse a cave wasn't one of them, but building a hole underneath it or using rocks from the walls to use against him could certainly work.

**With no mention of WPs to be spent, the Activation roll for John's Power (a Difficulty Number of 10 on 2d6..the Will Power skill) was only a 7, so it failed and the Power didn't happen. This next round you can take actions, but you will be at -1D as you feel like a Failure/Depressed/etc. (the effect of failing a Talent Power Activation, all Talents suffer this if they fail the roll)....in effect though you're actually at -2D as you're also wounded. I'd suggest either falling down to take cover and/or perhaps Spending a Luck Point (+3D for one round).

I apologize for the bad roll, but PLEASE let me know whenever Activating a Talent if you wish to spend WPs and how many (you have 12 right now)

***Chisholm is Wounded (-1D for all actions until Treated....note, you DO have the Talent Power: Heal Self....which you can activate for free as you have the Hyper DEX power active right now)

****Hey ybn, I hadn't heard from you, so I hope this choice of action for Campbell was okay!

With the sniper taking cover, Casey targets the flyer for a taste of his own medicine and hollers at the flyer.

Spend 2 WP to active talent "sonic blast"

Thanks for covering his action. Even in the face of COVID, the cancer clinic can not slow down so work has been busy. Then I went and got the booster shot which took me down over the end of last week. Aside from the loss of smell and taste, the booster was worse than the actual COVID.

7:20 AM; August 15; Alaska Territory; beach of Aleutian Island Kistakuta

On a cold, wet, miserable rock off the western coast of Alaska; a battle between Japanese Talents and American/Canadian Talents continued to rage....

SGT Nahum Chisholm reached deep within himself and managed to activate his Heal Self Talent Power and his wound closed over, as he kept his Thompson pointed at the badly wounded Japanese Officer lying on the beach near him and watched as the IJA Talent mumbled some words while holding a knife with the point aimed at his belly. The veteran NCO had heard the stories of Japanese troops sometimes taking their own lives, but he wasn't sure he believed them until he watched the LT plunge the blade into his belly and twist it violently....

At about the same time this was happening, CPL Casey Campbell looked away from the sights of his Johnson LMG for a moment and let loose a 'Scream' that unleashed his Talent power of causing black waves to radiate out from his body and smash into the back of an IJA officer on his knees on the beach and cause him to fall forward roughly onto the rocky ground and quickly finish the job of slamming the knife all the way thru his mid-section and ensuring that threat would never bother anyone again....

PVT Phil Heuron painfully moved closer and closer towards the cave entrance that held the Japanese 'Talent' known as The Maker while maintaining a swirling snow storm at the entrance to it. The Quebec born Canadian solider thought he was about 25 yards from the cave entrance now and he felt sweat break out all along his brow as the strain of maintaining his Talent Power began to affect him*.....

Much like Heuron; PFC John Porcupine painfully made his way towards the same cave-entrance; doing his best to shake off the feelings of anger and despair at not being able to activate his Earth Bending Power a moment ago and this time he tried again and was able to succeed and he created a pit at the ground level of the cave entrance and where the snow-storm being maintained by his team-mate Phil was located. He could JUST see a silhouette of a man fall into the pit and he THOUGHT he could hear a cry of pain echo over the storm as he got within 30 yards of the cave entrance....

PFC Tom Nado aimed his M1 Garand at the top of the hill in front of him, aiming where he had seen the Japanese Talent Sniper known as 'The Marksman' fire from and put a couple of rounds down-range. His first shot missed badly, but his second just BARELY missed; clipping the boulder the IJA Unit 781 was kneeling behind and sending shards of rock onto him. It wasn't enough to keep the Japanese solider from firing his own weapon and Tom was dismayed to see Corporal Mark Battaglia collapse to the beach and writhe in pain as he was hit by a 6.5mm Arisaka Rifle round....

Lance Corporal Koda listened to his Spirit Guide and he carefully and quickly moved to the cluster of rocks that had been used by the now deceased Japanese Talent known as 'Sun Burst' and was now ducking in cover with a Type 96 LMG resting on a bipod nearby; along with the corpse of the IJA Talent. Koda realized quickly his vision was coming back and also, the thick heavy gray cloud 'wall' that had been drawn around the island like a curtain was fading....leaving the more standard 'regular gray' clouds instead. He could feel a Talent Power being 'turned off' and figured this 'Cloud Bringer' Talent guy, wherever he was inside the hill, had stopped using his Power. Looking at the Cave Entrance some 20 yards away or so where Sun Burst had come out from; he could see a tunnel leading in and up into the hill......

1st LT Hyde-Smythe, blinking rapidly as he realized his vision was coming back, hissed in pain as he dragged his wounded self towards some cover. "CAMPBELL! KODA! PUT SOME FIRE ON THAT BLOODY SNIPER BEFORE HE MAKES US ALL PERMANENT RESIDENTS, RIGHT!" he yelled out as he readied his Garand to shoot at 'The Marksman'....

*Okay, Phil has had his Power 'on' for 3 straight rounds; to keep it on from this point you'll have to make a Will Power roll each turn to Maintain it if you want to keep using the Power (It doesn't count against other actions, but if it fails, your Power stops and you can't do anything other than collapse in exhaustion as the power fails) with an escalating Difficulty Number...it starts at 15 and will go up by 5 each subsequent round....you CAN spend WPs on this roll (roll made using your Will Power Skill dice...i.e. 2D right now, so you'd have to spend 3 WPs to even have a chance...more would be better).

OOC: Okay, The Flyer is now KIA (poor guy was trying to take himself out and got blasted by a Scream from behind! :) ); The Maker is at the bottom of a Pit....so you can't see him right now (also blocked by a 'snow-globe'); Cloud Burst is somewhere inside the hill and has Stopped using his Power right now; The Marksman is at the top of the Hill, firing away and Sun Burst is KIA.

Phil and Porcupine are about 25 and 30 yards away from the Maker's location and about 125 yards from the Marksman; everyone else is about 140-150 yards away from the Marksman.....and Koda is about 20 yards from the Cave Entrance that Sun Burst came out of and which he can see has some kind of tunnel leading into the hill and rising up out of sight...

OOC: Okay

Nahum Chisholm

Nahum looks for a route he can run and dodge to get himself into position to fire on the Marksman.

Using a luck point, he will let his blur talent lapse if he doesn't get a shot this turn.

"Tom, you're panicking," Nado says to himself. "Also, you're talking to yourself. Settle yesself down, stop shooting willy nilly, and hit that sumbitch." He draws a deep breath, takes careful aim on the sniper, exhales slowly, and fires once.
