Dutch
Knives out! Dutch draws his Bowie, attacking the nearest of the three Nips. Incoguously, he begins singing his high school's fight song:

Cheer, cheer for Adamstown High
You bring the whiskey, I'll bring the rye!
We'll let Charlie bring the Gin- won't let a sober teacher in!...

Elias, who stepped back to throw the grenade has his pistol out in a two handed stance.

He will aim and fire at the closest one to the Sergeant, giving him a moment or two to decide on his plan.

His next shot will be the one that is behind Sergeant Van Horne.

If after that, they are in close combat, he will holster the pistol and use the knife to attack from behind.

2nd LT Acme

Marvin drops the BAR and pulls his .45, firing once at each of the two oncoming foes. "It's getting crowded in here, Doc! Time to toss them out!"

OOC: I thought I had replied to an earlier question in this thread in the thread, but I guess I did it in a PM.....NOBODY has a bayonet, but everybody has a Knife of some kind....PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR CHARACTER SHEETS IN THE THREAD FOR WHAT YOU HAVE.

In the future, if somebody says "I use my bayonet" or "I throw a grenade" when they don't have one of their sheet, that round will be spent with that character attempting to use something that isn't there.....this time is on me for not spelling out the no bayonets in this thread like I thought, but in the future, that will not be the case. Thanks and I'm loving the responses, thanks!

“Mediocre” Fred Roker drops the radio—well, doesn’t “drop,” really, because you don’t just drop a sensitive piece of electrical equipment, especially one you might need to use to get your ass out of a jam. But with two enemies bearing down on him, Roker’s time as the Radioman of Doom, calling hellfire down upon his enemies, is over for now.

He'll have to settle for bringing hell to his enemies the old-fashioned way: up close and personal. With claws and teeth and way more hair than most men have. The change comes a little easier each time, it seems. Already, he can smell Japanese blood. And is that a whiff of fear, too? Sweet, delicious fear...

Using 2 WP to boost his roll to 4d6+2

Previous action:
He raises his Tommy Gun and lays down a massive barrage of fire against the two soldiers rushing towards him.

At least, he hopes he does. With the Tommy gun, he can never be sure…

That’s a 10-round suppressing fire, I think. Actually—does suppressing fires still do the 5D+2 of a regular burst? And is there a penalty for attacking two targets with the suppressing fire, or is that still just one action? Depending on the answers, I might want to modify this action or use his last Luck point.

OOC: For suppressing fire attacks (and I'll post this in the Rules Thread as well...apologies); the idea is to spray an area and force those coming under fire to either hit the deck/take cover (i.e. be suppressed) or have to grit it out to fire back (i.e. make a Perception roll at Difficulty 15). The number of people affected is 3-5 depending on the weapon used (and if the targets are close together enough)....3 for an Automatic Rifle or SMG like the BAR and Thompson; 4 for LMGs like the Johnson or 5 for MMGs/HMGs like .30 cals and .50 cals.

In addition to the suppressing effects, an attack roll is made, but at -2D from the Guns (or Heavy Weapons) skill......if the roll STILL hits, damage is normal (so 5D+2 for the Thompson).....two bursts worth of damage is used up (10 rounds for a Tommy Gun in this example). I hope this helps!

'The Ridge', island of Guadalcanal, Night of 13-14 September, 1942

As the various members of SST 4 engaged in hand-to-hand combat, each became aware of new, unfamiliar Talent Powers being used somewhere to their left and somewhat behind them, but none of them had a chance to dwell on it as all were involved in desperate hand-to-hand fighting for their lives.....

'Mediocre' Fred Roker dropped his radio and with a snarl, he TRANSFORMED into a sinister-looking wolf-man and he took great delight in the FEAR that spread across the faces of the two IJA soldiers who had been attacking him just a moment ago. Now, one of them let out a scream that would make a 5 year old girl proud and turned to run away while the other suddenly couldn't move or look away as the vicious fangs and claws reached out for him. With a horrible (wonderful?) slash and bite, the terrible (delightful?) spray of blood was torn from the Japanese soldier's throat and in a mere moment, Fred-the-Wolfman was victorious over another foe....

Behind him however, Corporal Hodges wasn't so lucky. The young Marine spotter swung with out with his weapon, attempting to use it as a club; but his foe was a wily, veteran IJA soldier who had campaigned in China for several long years and he easily ducked the swing and viciously stabbed his bayonet into the American's chest once and then twice, causing a hideous gurgling sound to come from his now bloody mouth and the man slumped to the ground. The Japanese soldier then whirled around at about the same time Roker did, leaving them facing off against each other.....

Corpsman 'Doc' Franklin faced off against his foe, neither gaining any advantage over the other while behind the sailor 2nd LT Acme dropped his BAR, drew his 1911 .45 automatic and was able to just BARELY avoid being skewered by a bayonet thrust from one of the two soldiers facing off against I'm, while the second was able to merely graze his side as his weapon got entangled in some of the veteran Marine's webbing. Marvin didn't let such an opportunity go to waste and he squeezed off a round into that Japanese soldier's face, dropping him out of the fight forever; and then whirled and fired a second round that hit the other IJA trooper in the side, causing him to drop to one knee with a cry of pain, but he was still very much in the fight.....

Rifleman Gurung drew deeply into his well of willpower and resolve and he maintained his Armor power as two soldiers rushed him, one with a bayonet and the other with a sword. He also conjured forth his energy blade and he leapt out at the sword-wielding NCO or Officer and attacked three times; missing once but managing to nearly chop the man in half with the other two blows. The soldier with the bayonet landed a solid thrust, but the snake-skin-like Armor scales caused the blade to just glance off; only causing a grunt of pain from the bruise and leaving the Gurkha soldier facing off against the IJA trooper alone....

SGT Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn drew his big Bowie knife and while humming his high school fight song, he leapt at one of the three attacking Japanese soldiers and with a perfectly timed move, he buried the weapon in the man's chest, causing him to stagger back and then collapse to the ground with glassy eyes looking at nothing. The trooper next to him though managed to slice the big Pennsylvania farm-boy Marine's off-arm with is bayonet, causing a hiss of pain to interrupt the NCO's singing and a pistol shot echoed from seemingly no-where to take out the third IJA soldier....

Coast Guardsman Elias Tucker had used his Talent to turn himself invisible and sling his Scoped Springfield Rifle and draw his Smith and Wesson 1917 .45 Revolver just as the three Japanese soldiers attacked SGT Van Horn. Taking careful aim, he put a round from his handgun straight into the upper left portion of the Japanese trooper's chest, causing him to half spin and fall to the ground. The IJA soldier attempted to rise up for a moment, then fell back down in a stiff heap. Elias turned back to the situation at hand and saw that Dutch had taken one out, but gotten cut by the remaining Trooper....

CPL Wade MacGyver found himself facing off against two rushing Japanese soldiers and he exploded into action; drawing upon his Talent Powers and causing one of the Troopers to suddenly find himself 'falling' straight up some 10 feet and then come crashing back to the ground with enough force to cause the soldier to snap his neck and that ended that threat. The other came forward and stabbed out with his Arisaka Rifle's bayonet, but Wade managed to created a Shield of Energy in front of him that deflected the attack like a kid using a garbage can lid to defend against the branch another kid attacks him with when both were playing Knights....

Roger Myers found himself squaring off against a pair of IJA troops, one of whom had the standard Arisaka Rifle with a bayonet, while the other was an NCO or Officer wildling a sword. Roger moved blindingly fast and swung his Johnson LMG up and around in a vicious arc that connected with the Rifleman's jaw....snapping his head back and dropping him unconscious to the ground with a blow that Joe Louis would've envied. A moment later though, Roger was on one knee, letting out an involuntary howl of pain as the Officer/NCO sliced into his right side with a sword cut. Roger could feel the wet blood causing his uniform shirt to stick to his side as he looked at his opponent and several options raced thru his brain.....attack with the Johnson's butt.....dodge away from the coming sword blow.....draw his .45 pistol.....use his Electric Shock Talent Power.....

Gurung

Gurung maintains his attack. Striking 3 times.

He will spend as much WP as he needs to to maintain both his armor and energy blade.

Roger
Somewhat surprised to have survived a strike from a Katana, Roger tries out the shock attack (luck usage here) - jabbing a conductive Johnson MG fully charged should be electrifying!

Dutch
Dutch snarls at the pain in his arm. He is a man tranformed by fury- snarling, roaring, shouting curses you wouldn't even find written on latrine walls. He attacks the remaining soldier, slashing with the bowie like a man chopping kindling.

Wade "Mac" takes his trench gun and pointblank fires it twice at the one enemy trying to turn him into a kabob.

Fred Roker's gleeful lupine bloodlust mixes with rage on hearing Hodges fall. The woflman smiles at the Japanese soldier. It is not a friendly smile. It rather shows the very small difference between a smile and a snarl—which, it turns out, on a wolfman is no difference at all.

Roker gives his enemy just a moment to appreciate the horror of his fate before going for his throat.

When that's over (if nothing goes wrong for our hero), Roker turns his attentions to sniffing out the source of the new Power he's sensing.

Elias does not want to take a chance of hitting his sergeant, he holsters his pistol and draws his knife,

Coming in on the sergeants side while invisible was not a good idea.

He goes prone, thrusting himself at the Japanese, aiming for the lower leg, calf or bisecting the Achilles tendon.

Whistles as he goes prone

Acme

Marvin does his best to finish the trooper on his knees, unwilling to show any mercy. He fires twice again, once at the kneeling foe, and once at the trooper fighting Doc. "Hold on, I'm coming!"

'The Ridge', island of Guadalcanal, Night of 13-14 September, 1942

As the battle on the Ridge intensified, the members of SST 4 continued to feel several unknown Talent Power being used to their left and off to the Left Flank, they became aware of American voices yelling out in panic and fear; "THEY'RE USING GAS AND FIRE AND THEY'VE GOT TALENTS! FALL BACK!!!!"

2nd LT Marvin Acme ignored his grazing wound and centered his 1911 .45 pistol on the wounded IJA trooper in front of him and put a round right into his snarling face to end that threat forever...and then a moment later he switched his aim and put a round straight into the rear center torso of the Japanese solider fighting 'Doc', causing him to stiffen up and then drop as Doc took a deep breath and gave a quick, heart-felt "Thanks!" to his commanding officer. A moment later, the panicky voice of PFC Roger Myers called out shakily, "CORPSMAN!" and without wasting another second, Franklin was scrambling to his Teammate's foxhole....

Rifleman Gurung could feel sweat starting to pour down his armored face and he felt like he had been running a marathon as the effort to keep his Talent Powers was starting to take its toll, but he shrugged it off and kept the purple blade of light active in his hand and the hard, snake-scale armor covering his body. His last opponent slashed out with his bayonet, hitting him high in the chest in what WOULD'VE been a devastating injury had his Armor power not been active. As it was, it was a painful bruise that caused the Gurkha solider to wince and grunt in pain. It threw off his first Energy Khukri strike, but his follow up strike sliced deeply into the IJA trooper's torso, causing him to drop to the bottom of the trench in a welter of blood. Gurung stumbled back as he was suddenly alone for a moment and he absent-mindedly rubbed his sore chest as he tried to take stock of what to do next*....

PFC Roger Myers did his best to ignore his wound as he faced off against the Japanese Officer or NCO who raised his bloody Katana up and started to bring it down again in a vicious arc towards him. He could feel the strange electrical Talent Power well up inside of him and he jammed his Johnson LMG up and into his opponent's chest and willing his Power thru this impromptu Lighting Rod to fry his foe while at the same time a terrible pain could be felt in his left thigh. A moment later, the remains of his opponent were smoking in the far corner of the foxhole while he was on the ground with the Sword sticking all the way thru his leg. He knew it was bad and he shakily yelled out, "CORPSMAN!" while some part of his brain wondered if leaving it in was wiser than yanking it out.....**

SGT Dutch Van Horn hissed in anger and pain from the wound on his arm and he attacked the last remaining foe in front of him, slashing out with his big Bowie knife at the Arisaka Rifle wielding Trooper. The Japanese solider leaped back and managed to dodge the strike, but an eerie whistling behind him caused him to turn his had and then suddenly drop to one knee with a cry of pain as an Invisible Coastguardsman Elias Tucker managed to slice the back of his calf, wounding his opponent and leaving him vulnerable to an enraged SGT Van Horn. With a vicious cut that nearly severed the man's head from his body, Dutch ended this IJA threat forever....

CPL Wade MacGyver was pleased to see his Energy Shield deflect the bayonet stab of his IJA foe JUST enough to miss hitting his body while he leveled his 12 gauged Trench Gun and pulled the trigger, pumped the weapon and fired again; sending two shells of triple aught buckshot into the soldier, shredding him to a pulp and leaving the Marine as the only man still standing in his foxhole....

Radioman Fred Roker turned to the last Japanese soldier in his foxhole and 'smiled' at him, causing the veteran IJA trooper and killer of CPL Hodges to stagger back in fear and clumsily attempt to stab out with his Arisaka Rifle's bayonet in a weak move that 'Mediocre' Fred Roker easily was able to bat away without it doing any harm to him. The Wolf-man then lunged forward and in a terrible (awesome) bite, he ripped out the man's throat and viciously avenged his spotter's killer....

*Gurung is Bruised. He will be at -1D for all actions for the next 3 rounds. He is also at 12 remaining Will Power Points for maintaining the Armor Power.

**Myers is now Seriously Wounded. He is at -2D to all actions until treated and can barely move.

Gurung

Gurung keeps down and scans the area for any possible Japanese talent users as well as any other immediate threats. If he doesn't see any he will allow his powers to lapse in an effort to save his strength.

Dutch
Sgt VanHorn drops to one knee to make himself a smaller target as he looks around. Clear the dead out of your holes! Wounded, sound off!

Dutch brings up his Eagle Eyes again, using WP as needed. He studies the Left flank, hoping he can see some sign of the Enemy Talents that direction.

Elias take the Sergeants wound patch and attaches it to his arm, tying it with a sailors knot.

He them takes the bodies, and places them on the side of the foxhole, stripping them of 2 rifles and their ammo.

Still invisible, he will low crawl out to the downed officer and take his Katana and low crawl back.

Whistling his tune.

If asked: "It's for the president, he asked me to gather the first one I could get that I was responsible for dropping.

Wade "Mac" lets his shield drop and reloads his gun looking around for any further enemies. Then checking himself over for injuries and to see how bad they are to respond to the call out command.

His immediate threat dispatched, "Mediocre" Fred concentrates on trying to sniff out (literally) the source and nature of the Power he's been sensing.
