Foix places himself very much in reserve and lets the "naval experts" get on with the task in hand. He keeps the charges with him in case they are required and acts as lookout.

How effective this is will depend on how many separate tanks they have. We will get away with this one...we may get away with the other side, but after that we will be effectively opposed, I think.

It is a warship. That seems very hopeful.

But it will degrade their performance and probably provoke a reaction to our reaction to their provocation. Very soon, no one will know how this all started.

Foix maintains his vigil and switches to a private channel before replying to Rock "This is a warship which has already started it's very own war. Once a war has started then states and soldiers simply react to the present and the causes be they noble, justifiable or not are usually determined by the victor. Alas, as a Legionnaire conducting a military intervention, I'm used to being called late to the party!"

"I would very much like to be able to evacuate those who may be caught up in it. He glances back to the hatch. I hope that Vee may be able to convince Eka to put herself and the children aboard into a rescue ball. If we can then transfer them to the pinnace then they may be safe".

The group investigating the fuel scoops finds that one of them can be accessed though a warped corner of the covering door. There is just enough room for one person to squeeze through.

Meanwhile, the group at the hatch reports seeing six children now, ranging in age from three to early teens, like Eka. The idea of a rescue ball comes up, and Hennesy heads back to the pinnace along the belaying line.

That, coupled with what Eka said about the state of their life support systems, probably means that there isn't enough fuel left to fire the meson gun. A relieved Foix responds "Well, that improves everyone's situation. Let us see if we can convince Eka to let us take her charges to a place of safety. At the very least we can load up the pinnace and cast off. We will need to liaise with the Lady to effect our own rescue but if we have comms then I believe this will work".

That is enough. The damage they have already done to the Birach ship and our pinnace shows it. Potentially this ship itself is a weapon, if it retains the ability to steer itself.

Foix replies "That's never a good assumption to make but if we remain on the rear of this ship then their weapons in the cargo bay can surely not target us directly. If they wish to do so they must now advance on us".

A quick recap:

1. Vee, Rock, and company are transporting the pinnace's rescue bubbles (it has six that can hold up to ten persons for 8 hours) to the airlock.

2. Zhenya, Taheri, and Foix are standing at the upper starboard scoop's warped door, determining if they should enter the ship.

Rock, as medic, will (of course) be at the forefront of the group moving the rescue bubbles. He may not be a vacc-suit expert - but he does know how to move in Zero-G

While the rescue bubbles are being prepared, Anne keeps an eye open for unwelcome visitors on the hull.

Looking at Zhenya, Those mason guns haven't fired recently. I bet they have just a few hours of fuel left. No need to blow anything up. They have defeated themselves by exhausting their resources.

Shall we get back to the others, Comté? I have a feeling that's where things might get interesting.

And if they are just harbouring those remaining resources for a last-ditch effort when boarding the station?

If the advice Foix is getting is that there is insufficient fuel to fire the meson gun then he will have that relayed to the Birach Forces insystem for relay to the fleet. He further advises that secondary ballistic armament is still active and the cruiser is still hostile.

Having sent that last via the pinnace's comms he will return to the hatch to aid with the rescue.
