New version of dice roller is active

#1 Post by ToniXX »

As the title says, the new version of the dice roller is currently active. The old hosting company finally followed through on their threat of 'upgrading' my hosting plan, and as I suspected, it broke the roller. But, the new one was ready, and while they forced me to do the migration a couple days early, I was able to migrate to the new one this morning.

You'll know you're on the new site because the header image is different from the old one. Instead of the 'idol' pic from the 1ed PHB, you'll see the green dragon from the basic magenta box cover. If you don't see the new image, try clearing your cache and also force-loading the new style sheet (ctrl-F5 on Chrome or ctrl-shift-r on other browsers.)

Please note: Your old password won't work at the new roller. You must use the 'forgot your password' link on the login page to set a new password. Enter your email address that you use in the old system and follow the link in the email that is sent to you.

If you're having trouble with this because: a) you don't know what email address you used, b) you no longer have access to that email address, or c) you don't get the 'forgot your password' email, post here with your user name at the dice roller and I'll look into it.

Once you're in, you should see all of your data. If you don't, post here.

And finally, if you encounter any other problems, errors or erratic behavior, post here with the error code (if there is one), and a description of what you were doing when the error occurred.

As always, thanks for your continued support. I think you'll find the new dice roller superior to the old one.

** EDIT AND UPDATE **

I wanted to add here a few things that have changed for the better with the new dice roller:
  • Macros (and the results of macro rolls) can now be 1024 characters long, increasing their size by over 4 times
  • Your macros can now include a maximum of 8 dice expressions. The limit before was either 4 or 6 (I don't remember).
  • You may now roll up to 16 dice in a dice expression. So [16d6] will now work. The limit before was 10.
  • There is now no differentiation between a 'player' and a 'GM'. All users are now like GMs in that they can make campaigns. If you don't want to be a GM and thus you don't need campaigns, just ignore that section.

Thanks Greg!!!

Worked for me. Easy peasy!

Except I don't see the new dragon. I still get the thieves atop the PH idol.

Interesting. Please clear your cache and post here if that worked

How do I clear my cache? I am leaving for work so won't be able to try until late tonight but figured I better ask as not many are on at that time.
Thanks,
Rex

If you're using chrome, press ctrl-shift-delete. Then check 'browsing history' and 'cached images and files'. Make sure you DO NOT check 'cookies and other site data'. Then click 'clear data'. I'm not immediately sure how to do it with other browsers, but you can find it in your settings and it's usually pretty easy to find, as it's a common task.

Updated the first post (at the bottom of the post) with notes on major changes in the new system over the old.

Works for me. Worth noting the email might be filtered to Junk Email section but otherwise the 'send email' and confirmation reply are instantaneous and I could log in and review all my characters, archives and macro's.

Thanks for pointing out that the email may be filtered to junk/spam. I just made a change to the domain DNS zone to hopefully reduce the chance that this will happen.

Hi!

I just tried to use the "Forgot my Password" over at the dice roller with two email addresses I'm most likely to have used, and it said neither are in the data base.

My username over there is the same as here: Jernau35

Thanks!

Hello.

I checked the 'account settings' of my profile which lists an old email address as worpig@outlook.com but this address has been unused for a few years now and Outlook have closed this.

I have a new email address which is: gregmaurel1996@hotmail.com and this has been changed in my profile but the dice roller says this new address is not on your database.

I have received a note from the US to this new address to activate my login details so I know it is recognised somewhere.

Anyway, sure you can sort that out so I can roll some dice.

Thank you

I got a note from a player that all of the data under the Spellbook tab on the character sheets has vanished.

Anyone else seeing that?

Test
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Can you give me the ID of the PC in question, or at least the PC name and the user name?
I'll look into this. Thanks!
