Malak is the stone-head? Son of Thunder turns his head incredulously. I suppose that would explain a few things.
LOL!

A forest of mushrooms and the floating head is all that I found. I'm sorry I cannot offer more and what could have happened to Malak.Argennian wrote:Zafalia will also move over to inspect the freshly-dispatched constructs and see if she notices any new clues about them compared to the others.
Once finished, she rejoins the others with a look of obvious frustration. She does a quick look around for a head count to make sure that no one else is mssing and assess her companions' conditions before turning to the ranger. "I wonder what on Oerth has happened to Malak? Tis like he just up and disappeared! Son of Thunder, can you try and find his tracks?" she asks worriedly before turning to the cleric. "Wulfgard, what did you see? Can you tell us what happened to our friend?"

Wulfgard shakes himself out of his self absorption and applies healing to Varkos.saalaria wrote:"Wulfgard - are you sleeping?" varkos attempts a jest.
"I think healing would be most useful if we are to venture further in these caves"
not subtly hinting anymore!

"My thanks to you my friend"
Varkos seems revitalised by the healing energy - more alert and less fatigued from the combat.
"Where now? Through the mouth?"

Re: Action Thread 7
Ilhalevar looks up from studying the floating head and glances at Varkos.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea. Where were they coming from? Where were they going? What were they doing? I'd like to know these answers..."
OOC: Ron, what was the total count of cocoons in the area a few rooms back? Assuming that is something Ilhalevar remembers... I just don't.

Whether or not Malak has been transformed into an immunity idol is the concern of weavers of mystics. The Ranger will continue on his path of tracking. Odo, are you game?
Re: Action Thread 7

Day 1 – 2:21 p
.
The Ranger strikes up a torch and inspects the ground and the wall-face.
As the light goes up and folks are talking, the floating stone head reorients itself and, still facing Zafalia, moves to be between Zafalia and the mouth on the wall.
The Cleric heals Varkos without issue. Ilhalevar harkens back to the previous room remembering that there were 20 pods.
Odo checks the stone face and mouth and says “still no traps from when I went through before, see” he puts his arm through and back without a problem.
It’s quiet, except for the party’s quiet discussion and the burning of the torch. Unless invisible and silenced, there doesn’t seem to be any other bad guys headed your way. Wait, what’s that… oh boy, through the passage behind the stone face on the wall, there’s the unmistakable sounds of another waterfall. It’s some distance away, but there’s definitely another one.

Re: Action Thread 7
As they study the opening in the wall, Ilhalevar does some quick calculations and says, "There were 20 of those pods in that room back there. We destroyed four of the stick creatures above the waterfall, two more in the pod room itself, and then another four here. By my count, that leaves 10 more. Maybe. Obviously, more could have been made elsewhere. Or at another time."
Does the floating head look at all like the head carved into the wall?

Re: Action Thread 7
The floating head is almost completely lacking in detail, while the wall is full of detail. But as you look at it now, the lips of the floating head are the most detailed on it. Slightly tannish in color and strange bulges. They look an awful lot alike the lips on the wall, except those are open to allow people to crawl through. It's weird and a bit unsettling.

Re: Action Thread 7
Ilhalevar examines the detailed head on the wall more closely. Specifically, she is looking for any indentations or recesses that look like it might accept the floating head into its cavity.

This side there doesn't seem to be any.

Re: Action Thread 7
The Ranger will crawl thru the mouth opening, first confirming there is a place to put his feet. He'll move slightly to one side to allow room for Odo. After a quick scan of the area, including what the "face" may look like on this side, he'll actively search for Malak's tracks.
Re: Action Thread 7
Varkos will move to stand where he can best cover both the onward (ie non face) passage and the way we have come from. He will scan between the two - looking for any company.
Re: Action Thread 7
Ilhalevar, we may have found something. There is a place that our floating head may fit into on this side. The Ranger's voice is hushed, so as not to draw any uglies from the unexplored areas.
Re: Action Thread 7
Upon hearing the ranger's voice from the tunnel, she gently tries to coax the floating head through the hole. If that works, she will follow it.
If not, she'll see if she can move it in any direction, or if it maintains a position in relation to the cleric.
