The vote is tied between #1 and #2. DA's additional points are valid (though the rule about a player/princess entering the castle on an exact roll isn't optional), so I will go with #1. This does raise the question, can the player/princess also do this? To be fair, it should be yes relative to passing through, but to enter the Castle he still needs the exact roll. Think of it as passing by the castle versus going into the castle to win.
So, we just need Mant and Norjax's Turn 34 rolls to proceed.
WW T34 Kothar [2d6]=4

Throll Dragonsbane:
W&W T34 Throll: [2d6]=11
Not that it will matter, but Throll will remain in place.

Thanks, guys! It was a lucky roll at the end.
That’s a great gif, DadsAngry!

With the castle ramparts in sight, Boris and Princess run to the gates. They see Kothar, Samson and Throll emerge nearby, but they aren’t close enough to engage with the warrior. The gates are reached. Victory!
Congrats Mant! The 6 roll was exactly what was needed to land on the Castle space.
With this game over, is there interest in playing Sanctuary!, the board game based on the Thieves World books of the 80s. Unlike the other games, it does not rely on dice alone, but has strategy, cards, and deal-making elements. More info:

Sure, those were good books. Been a long time since I read them though.

I’m in! I remember the bartender, One Thumb, from the novels. I haven’t read them in years, but they were good back in the day.

The Sanctuary rules are up at Table #5. They’re longer than the others, so give them a read this week and we’ll aim to start play next weekend.
By the way, it isn't necessary to have read and know the Thieves World books to play. It will add to one's appreciation, but not impact play.
