Re: 3. Bittercreek (action)
How many trolls do we see? By the post there seems to be at least 5.
Re: 3. Bittercreek (action)
There are five visible trolls.

"Can any of you tell if they are armed? Its to far away for me."
She sniffs the air and tries to tell if their are more out of sight.
Smell [1d6]=6 [1d6]=6 [1d6]=6
My best roll ever in this game anyway.

Elzarune casts a spell of Eagle's Eyes to see if the trolls are armed.

Grax being a dwarf can't see any better than Sealgair hops and tries to peek around the ones in front of him "Eh I dunno Sealgair, I can't see no better from down ere."

Re: 3. Bittercreek (action)
The trolls are unarmed, unarmored, dressed in moderately clean clothing without any patches or tears. One has a bristly chinstrap beard and a wart on his nose. The rest have the traditional long flowing handlebar mustaches, ends wobbling down by their chests as they converse with the toll-paying travelers.
There are only the five trolls anywhere nearby. The ramshackle building near the trollgate smells like bacon, pea soup, barley bread, and wood smoke. Also troll funk.
A couple people from the front of the line finish haggling their toll and walk through the gate with their mule, onto the bridge. One of the trolls at the gate cups hands to his mouth and shouts across the gap: "Comin over nah!" His deep voice echoes up from the chasm and a pair of small birds wing it up out of there, spiraling up into the clear blue sky. From the far side of the gap you hear "Okay den!" and looking over, Elzarune notes there are three more trolls, another large rickety building, and another line of about a dozen people and pack animals waiting to come north. Everything seems pretty well-ordered.
Elzarune's magically sharpened eyes catch sight of a well-mulched and weedless flower garden next to the building at this side of the bridge. Sealgair smells tulips.

Elzarune addresses the others in a low voice. "Three on this side, three on the other and two working on the scaffolding. None of the them look like they are expecting any trouble; no arms or armor that I could see. You want to see what happens if we stir things a bit? I could throw my voice and start a kerfluffle."

Re: 3. Bittercreek to Troll Bridge (action)
Elzarune uses a Ventriloquism spell to throw voice further back in the line. "What's the hold-up?! For the extortion we get charged here, you'd think they'd roll the red carpet out for us or sometin'! I bet we could get a goblin to do the job twice as fast for half as much!"
Re: 3. Bittercreek to Troll Bridge (action)
One of the lounging trolls looks up and pokes the troll next to her. She whispers something in his big hairy ear. Then they both laugh.

Re: 3. Bittercreek to Troll Bridge (action)
A pair of travelers leading multicolored horses step forth from the near end of the bridge and swing up into their saddles. They both wear light armor and carry swords. Nudging their steeds with their heels, they head past you to the north.
Another person at the head of the queue forfeits some coin to the toll-taker, and the line shuffles forward. You're only about eight from the front now.

The line plods forward and eventually you get to the trolls. They smell a bit.
"A gold coin each," says the one who's standing up. He holds out his hand. There's a pouch on his belt, it looks heavy with coins he's taken today.
