Sister Daisy's House of Healing

#1 Post by OGRE MAGE »

The Free Clinic sounded kinda.....icky.

Sister Daisy spends some time getting to know the friends she has gathered to help her weave the thatch walls for the small building she eventually intends to erect.

4 of the common folk in town have dedicated their time to help, joking around about where their beds will sit once it is finished.

Some of the details still need to be ironed out, like where she wants the building to be in town, and who will build the foundation and roof bearing walls, etc., but the halfling war priestess is pretty happy with the small amount of progress she sees already.

Daisy
Daisy laughs and jokes with the workers, reminding them that if they stay at the clinic, they'll be wasking bedpans and scrubbing floors.
She takes a walk through the village, trying to decide where the clinic should be. She smiles and greets people as she goes, not in any rush. Sophie waddles along beside her, sniffing at scraps of dead leaf and random piles of sand.

She paces through the open area west of the Logger's Trail, just East of the Common Houses. Ah think this is the Where- now Ah need somebody who knows the How. She puts sticks in the ground to mark the approximate corners.

Two human teenage boys get closer as the sister is nailing up her notice.

"Hey! Who are you?"

"Better yet, what are you doing here?"

Daisy turns to them, smiling. Hello, gentlemen. Ah'm Sister Daisy. Who are ya'll?

Is there a problem?

She looks closely at the boys. Their words indicate possible trouble, so she's on guard.

The young humans look startled when Daisy first shows herself. Their surprise quickly turns to disappointment.

“Oh, sorry lady. We thought you were someone.......you know......someone else.”

“Hey, you talk funny. Do all half-people talk like that?”

Daisy

Daisy raises an eyebrow. Who did ya'll think I was?
All the folks from mah home province talk like this- and the term is 'Halflings', honey.
She keeps her tone reasonably polite, but she's letting the hardass bitch show- just a little bit.

Who are you fellas, anyway?

“We though you were someone else!”

“Ya, like a human.”

“Someone our age!”

“You know, like a new friend er something.”

Daisy smiled- a bit strained, but she was used to being mistaken for a child. The Bigs never seemed to think of that...

Well, no harm done, then. Ah'm sure it's hard, since there are so few kids on the island. Ya'll be careful if you go out into the jungle, alright?

”Okay!”

“Thanks lady!”

“He means Sister!”

“Ya, that’s what I meant!”

“It is hard here!”

“Ya, all we do is work here.”

“It sucks!”

“Ya, it sucks!”

“Okay.”

“See ya later, lady.”

“Ya, see ya later.”

Daisy stops in to visit the Constable. IF he's awake:

Hello again, Glisandi. Ah figured Ah should be the one to discuss this with you, so there's less chance of misunderstanding.
Ah called a meeting for the townsfolk, because Ah see plenty of motion but damn little progress. We talked about it, and until we get a town council workin', Ah'm the acting Mayor.
Ah don't intend on changing things too much, and as soon as we come up with something that works better, Ah'll step aside. Ah need ya'll to keep your job as Constable- if you still want it- because Ah'll need your advice as much as anyone else's.

Constable Glansandi is awake in his barracks bed, but still looks quite ill from his recent harrowing experience with the slime creature. He sits up and listens to what Daisy has to say, but he can barely keep his eyes open.

In a voice that is barely audible, he tries to tell her something. ”Mayor? Daisy, no. You must be cautious. I......I think......I believe Mr. Nehru was.....was ....murdered.”

The elf goes into a minor choking and coughing fit, holding his throat and spitting out more grey phlegm. He eventually lays back flat in his bed, motioning with his hand for Daisy to lean in closer to his face.

Daisy
Being even more cautious than usual of phlegm and such things, Daisy scoops up the muck with a broad leaf and drops it into the nearest fire.

She leans in a little closer, still somewhat cautious.Murdered? Ya'll got any evidence? or is it just a hunch, sugar?

For that matter, what would Daisy have heard about the details of Nehru's death?

She would know any public knowledge about him leaving town with a group and never returning. She could also gather inside information from anyone who was there that day as well. (Liam is one)

Glansandi looks a little sideways when Dasiy collects his mucus to dispose of later, but he continues whispering to her anyway.

"I have no physical proof, no. But there are people who were there that day who have told me some disturbing information."

"I am only telling you this because.....if someone wanted the last leader of town dead......you might be in trouble now too."

The tattered elf still looks exhausted, his words dropping off as his eyes close again.

Daisy
When you're up and around, Ah'd appreciate it if ya'll could look into this. Until then, Ah'll be careful. You rest an' recover- we'll be glad to see you back on duty, constable.
Daisy will offer prayers to Arvoreen for help and guidance, and then try to sleep.

-Morning-
Barring anything weird, Daisy will do her morning devotions, pass a few words with Glisandi, and visit Nalissa at the Hi/Lo

Daisy After her stop at the Hi/Lo

Daisy rounds up some chairs, stools, and/or logs to provide places to sit. She also fetches a jug of water, and sets the whole thing up in the shade.
She gets the most current map of the island she can find, plus some charcoal sticks and paper for notes.
As each of the representatives arrives, she'll greet them, thank them, and make sure she knows their name and who they represent.

Just before the meeting, Daisy hurries up the ladder into the Treehouse.

Randall, honey- Ah'm sorry, Ah almost forgot you! Ya'll are part of this town, too. If ya'll want to sit in on the council, ya'll will be welcome.

We can take this one council member at a time to keep it simple.

Randall looks confused at first, but eventually proudly agrees to attending the meeting.

"So wha disa all about? We really movin da town somewhere else?"

"You know dat not be too good fi Randall, right?"

Ah do understand that, sugar. But Ah have to work out what's best for the whole town, not just some of us. Ah know you love your bar, and it's an excellent place. Is there a reason you couldn't pack up your mugs and set up a new bar- maybe even in a tree, like this one?
Aside from that, there will always be a settlement here- Ah mean, this is where the ships dock.
