The two candle chandeliers in the nave are lit and reachable.

Yes...

...a desk, a chair, an oil lamp, a wardrobe and a bookshelf.

SocraticLawyer wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 4:21 am Is there a receptacle with extra oil?
I'll say yes.
SocraticLawyer wrote: Fri Sep 10, 2021 4:21 am Also, did Urdur find anything that could be used for a spell component?

Well, Urdur has 10 spells available to him. Let's see.

Audible Glamour (a lump of wax): as discussed there are lit candles in the nave.

Detect Illusion: (a piece of yellow tinted crystal, glass, or mica): as discussed there are stained glass windows all around.

Also, Urdur has several spells that require no material components. (Hypnotism, Change Self, Blindness, Invisibility)

If you don't have a Players Handbook, please let me know. :)

Thanks.

Given the above, Urdur would take the oil as a potential weapon and set down his rock. He would also grab a pinch of wax. Hopefully he can do all that this round.

I do have a PH, but I usually post from my phone without consulting it. I have an app that has "Old School" spells, but it hasn't always been reliable. For example, it indicates that Invisibility requires a material component.

Please let me know I should edit my post.

Presumably the cultists are doing their thing behind this door, right? Urdur can try an Audible Glamer in the voice of the demon lord from earlier, maybe order these yahoos to leave, or sacrifice themselves, or something...? Without our gear, I'm not convinced that rushing in guns blazing is a good idea. What do you guys think???

Is it too soon to start talking about the next campaign where we all collectively play a blob of mouths and eyes? :)

Inferno: I'm going to be AFK for a week or so. Please NPC my character as needed.

Hey everyone,

After you read my latest IC post, please read this:

Well that concludes the second adventure of this Call of Cthulhu/D&D campaign. Thanks, everyone. You continue to be an amazing (and patient) group. I've really enjoyed the last three years of this horror game, especially given all the horrors of the real world.

Fyi, the last 5 months were inspired by the module The God That Crawls by OSR luminary, James Raggi.

I'll dole out XP awards (finally!), recruit some fresh blood, and soon begin the next ghastly adventure in this game. Of course, all the surviving PCs are welcome to continue on in the sanity-destroying fun.

What a great ending. I thought my special boy, Telkis, was going to bite it, finally. :)

Thanks for spelling it out at the end, that's super helpful. Or, at least it would be to someone who hadn't already pieced together all the clues, no problem. :? :)

Looking forward to the next one. 19 years from now, when Telkis is 10th level, we can just adventure in the basement of his stronghold (for convenience).

Thanks for the kind words, Mouser, Pixie and Scott. Thrilled that you're able to stay on.

Ogre, Socratic and Urson: Got any Sanity Points left to continue on? I hope so! I'm just wondering how many new recruits I need to pull in. :)

Yeah, I broke the narrative (perhaps awkwardly) just before the spelling-out to give anyone who solved it a chance to blurt it out first. :)

Mysteries remain challenging in the PbP format. Even a "brief" adventure like this still takes months with clues spread out across RL and countless other games and characters. I'm continuing to experiment to solve for this, stubborn dope that I am.

I'm also interested in keeping the flavor of my games separate, so will be amping up the Lovecraft quotient here.
