Mason examines the murals for clues. The beginning of the hall shows rooms of some building, a library, a torture chamber, and a wizard's lab. As he proceeds further south the murals turn to outdoor scenes of hills and fields. They show cattle grazing, while wolves watch from the trees. Animal headed men work in the fields performing various mundane tasks. Mason finds no clues or hidden messages like the one hidden in the floor tiles, nor does he see signs of hidden or concealed doors.

You can try to memorize the message. While you are in this hall I will leave it posted and you have perfect recall. After leaving the room you will have to make an intelligence check to recite it correctly. Each success adds a cumulative +1 and each failure adds a cumulate -1 to the next time you try to recall it.

Of course if you have some means of writing it down then the check will not be needed.

Orange or Yellow first?
[1d100] = 44

ooc: Orange.
The glow fades away with each touch, but nothing happens. The arch is still filled with a curtain of mist. After a few seconds pass the stones glow again.

Mason goes back to the first pit. Shrugging off his pack again, he reaches in and pulls out a length or rope and a bulls-eye lantern. Trying the rope to the handle, he lights it and lowers it into the pit to get a better view.

"A little help over here please." Mason waits to hand the rope off. "Just hold it while I climb in." The monk easily reaches the bottom before starting his search. He intends to be thorough to avoid repeating this task.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear with my last post.

You find nothing but poisoned spikes and a few bones in the first pit.

Mason continues searching the pits one by one. This will take some time to complete them all. What are the rest of you doing during this time?

"Which blinky light, or lights ye figure we should leave on awe brave this smoky portal?" Halbrad asks his companions.

Elsa watches the party, guarding the enterence, and says prayers to both human and Orc gods for the missing men-at arms. After she finishes her prayer, she asks if she should keep guarding, or if they need help in the passage...

It takes some time eventually you reach the last pit. There on the west wall of the pit you discover a secret door. It opens onto a narrow hall that stretches off into the darkness.

"Don't assume it's not a trap as well," Worren says, hoping it isn't though.

The dusty hall is cramped and smells of stale air. Anyone taller than an elf would have to walk hunched over.

Who's first? :twisted:

After cautiously climbing down into the pit; Xale will walk to the edge of the passageway and carefully look the hallway over; attempting to discern any stonework traps; if the passage is leading 'down'; what he see with his infravision; etc.

You find no signs of traps or a slope.
