The young retainer looks to Zoster for a moment, hesitating, "Umm...yes sir." he says. He cautiously moves closer to the great devil face. He trusts his javelin into the mouth. As soon as it touches darkness the weapon is pulled into the maw violently. The lad's first instinct was to try to hold onto his weapon, his second was to let go, but sadly it was too late. The javelin was pulled with such force that the man at arms was pulled off balance and stumbled forward. His outstretched hand touches the blackness. He barely has time to scream before he is sucked into the devil's maw with such force that it pulls him right out of his boots.zebediah wrote:Zoster beckons his man-at-arms to come closer.
Lad, can you take one of those javelins of yours and poke through the mouth opening? Try to feel the ground and walls, just to see if it is safe to step through.

Having full view of the black hole maw sucking in the poor bastard Halbrad lets out a curse "Holy Sh...!!!"

Mason, shocked as well, adds "Well, I guess that answers that question."
He looks around the walls for and clue related to the colors on the doorway.

Xale was shocked at the sight of the poor warrior drawn into the maw and gives a quick prayer that either the portal was some kind of magical portal and the warrior had merely been transported elsewhere....or; that his soul was now at peace...
Feeling a bit foolish for forgetting about it until now; the Dwar suddenly remembered the writing that he had seen when they had first entered the passage. Turning around; he checks to see if the writing continued and if so; he will move until he can see it and will commit the words to memory. (Avoiding the traps as he does so).

Re: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Zoster is taken aback when the young man is sucked into the dark area What!
I hope this is some sort of portal and that we might bring him to safety. As it stands I think we should leave this portal be for the time being. I also don't trust the misty gate, looks too obvious. Is it possible that there are other hidden passages here?

"All may not be lost Zoster. Yes, this might be a portal and the young lad might still be alive. But I for one will not be going into that mouth anytime soon."

Re: Into The Tomb of Horrors
You find only murals depicting slaves building a tomb in a hill side. There are no clues or hints that you see regarding the yellow, orange, and blue stones of the archway.Nuke66 wrote:Mason, shocked as well, adds "Well, I guess that answers that question."

We should check the walls. And what is that about the pits leading to a fortuitous fall? Could there be a passage inside one of the pits?Bhart wrote:"ACERERAKmax_vale wrote:Xale was shocked at the sight of the poor warrior drawn into the maw and gives a quick prayer that either the portal was some kind of magical portal and the warrior had merely been transported elsewhere....or; that his soul was now at peace...

Re: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Who is checking the walls and where do they start?
Are you checking for secret doors or examining the murals for clues or both?

I would say Mason is the best option.

Halbrad pokes the other glowing stones to see if they stop shinning too.
Re: Into The Tomb of Horrors
Xale does his best to commit the poem to memory; then considers and asks if one of the mages has pen and paper to write it all down....

Fosco looks at Xale and wonders if all this time he had the means to evade these traps but some how forgot.
After kicking the dirt Fosco waits for the other mage types to finish up what they are doing.
