Xenos drags himself to his feet

"Thank you Cyril. I really wasn't expecting it to do that!"

He eyes the stone as it starts to crawl back towards them

"We should move on quickly, before it gets another chance to squash us."

Akhilleus can't believe his eyes. It wasn't enough that the rock changed shapes, now it's slowly rolling uphill!

He won't run to help his companions since they're already getting enough assistance and can still stand in their feet.

"If that's some kind of dessert animal, I wonder how it eats.

If not, maybe it's some kind of sorcery and it's meant to protect something. Something that's to be found around."

Reminder that OM said the rock is rolling up very slowly. Almost imperceptibly.

Question: did Akhilleus see if the rock rolled downhill in a straight line or if it rolled in the direction of his companions?

Cyril

Moves over to check on Valkrina's injuries, chanting and then placing his left hand on her arm.

Valkrina momentarily feels something wrap around her arm, tighten almost painfully and release
"Azathoth's healing has been spent for the day. I would suggest we all keep that in mind. And Valkrina, don't let this rock roll you over as it returns up the slope, my dear.

Perhaps somebody should check the spot where it began rolling at the top of the dune? Perhaps its movement has uncovered something."
Once everything is squared away, he will start trudging up the dune face to find the spot the boulder started.

Snorri stays with Akhilleus, axe at the ready should the boulder make a sudden roll back down and roll towards them.

Rolling Back Up?

Valkrina looks a little silly setting her spear up against a charge attack from the slow moving boulder when it will take about 15 minutes for the massive thing to finally reach her current position.

Cyril takes the time to heal Xenos, and then Valkrina while the stone slowly rolls back towards the spot where it crushed them, the benefit of the healing seeming to outweigh the odd sensations they feel for receiving said treatment from the chaos god.

Akhilleus could swear that he saw the rock veer slightly when it rolled over his companions, but the odd event was so abnormal, he cant really be sure.

Climbing to the top of the dune, Drest makes out the footprints in the sand again, heading deeper into the desert. He also sees a single deep rut in the sand that seems to have followed the tracks to this very location, as if it were just sitting there waiting for the people who made the tracks in the first place to eventually return. There is nothing revealed under the area where it sat at the top of the dune, and you still cant see where the set of tracks leads to off in the sandy distance.

Cyril nods at Akhilleus.

He climbs to the highest vantage on the dune and looks around.

“Sound logic, Akhilleus. A look around before following the tracks,” Snorri before taking a different dune to survey.

Valkrina

Somebody should throw a stone at it. Make our own mark upon the stupid rock.

She checks her gear to make sure that nothing is squashed beyond use. No fractures in the bone pipes or cymbals out of tune in her tambourine.

Xenos

"Very well, a quick look around before we continue."

Xenos joins the others in checking the other directions before we continue after the trail.

Rolling On

Valkrina’s gear seems mostly intact. She suggests attacking the strange boulder creature, but doesn’t do so herself.

Taking some time to look around and climb nearby dunes, the distant cityscape of Xambaala behind you can barely be seen. Only the tops of the highest towers are visible across the vast, dusty desert.

The thin line of footprints that leads deeper into the Zakath disappears over a few more dunes. Following them is becoming more challenging as they are slowly being swallowed up by the blowing, shifting sands that cover the scorched earth here.

Actions?

Akhilleus AC:4 32/32
Drest AC:7 16/16
Cyril AC:8 5/5 1st:1/3

Cyril barks out a rather incongruous laugh. "You describe my life! Whenever I arrive somewhere I feel like the footprints that brought me have already faded."

Valkrina

Walks along, checking that more random boulders are not lurking in wait on other dune crests or soft sand doesn't turn quick.
