Alice

"I have always liked pounding on things." Alice says with a chuckle just before she pounds her beer. "I thought it went well tonight, what did you think?"

Mel enjoys the small taste of success, pressing his luck as he normally would.

“I do most of our writing. Well, the serious stuff anyway.” He winks at Hooter.

“You two looked pretty hot dancing together out there too. So, an artist eh? I’ve heard good things about artists.”

The starving songwriter spends great effort trying to talk the pair into post gig sex, drug, and rock and roll activities.

Janx is on cloud nine, and it's a cloud of fragrant smoke. He looks around at the Rat's "dressing room." There are layers upon layers of rock and roll history and other kinds of history on the floor. Some of it seems to have climbed up onto the walls. For some reason there's a kind of asymmetrical Rorschach test-like yellow stain on the wall next to him, with a purple splotch on it. It reminds of a cloud with a purple splotch on it. Maybe a Hindu devi goddess is about to emerge from it. He wishes he had a camera. There's an infinite amount of Andy Warhol-like art all around this room to be captured.

He sees Mel make his move on the ladies. He decides to write a song called "Mel Makes his Move," or at least include that as a lyric. Unbeknownst to himself, he has gained valuable inventory taking skills as a stocking clerk at Sears. He takes stock of the situation. Exactly one hot Jill for every Jack and Jill of TPK. Except for Jimmy, but he's got a steady. The law of the interconnect lattice of cosmic unconsciousness at play once again

Luscious has noted Mel's move, and she seems more than amenable to a similar invitation from Janx. Now is the time, strike while the iron's hot. He's about to ask her if she wants to come his apartment, when suddenly The Molls launch into their first deafening number. A gnarly guitar tone penetrates straight through the walls. "That sucker's playing P-90s!," Janx thinks. "Which means: a) He's got balls, and forewent buying a guitar with either the usual single coils or humbuckers; or b) his daddy's rich, and guitars with all three kinds of pickups." He cocks his head like a parrot and listens intently.
INT save to avoid keeping Luscious waiting and spoiling the romantic mood. 11x5=55 [1d100]=22
Janx comes out of his reverie. "Bah, The Molls will be back, I can listen to them any time." He smiles at Luscious's smiling face, leans over and whispers into her ear, Want to come to my apartment and listen to some albums? Not that she can hear anything over the ear-splitting music, but she gets the message.

Musical Accompaniment - Been Caught Stealing by Jane's Addiction

The beer flowed and smoke wafted in the back room of the Rat as TPK and their friends hung out after their successful show.

Mel talked up Maria and her friend Maggie, but the artist girl started chatting with Alice.

Alice and Maggie talked and drank beer. "I think your show went well," Maggie replied. "The crowd seemed to like it. You have such energy. It's not everyday you see an accordian and a girl drummer." She smiled at Alice. "A pretty girl drummer." An innocent hand brushing the knee.

"I didn't know you had all those words inside that big head of yours," Maria said to Mel. "Your like a poet. You liked Maggie and my dancing? Yeah I got the moves." She smiled. "Maggie, she lives in my building. I think she's a real feminist type, if you know what I mean."

Hooter and Bridget whispered and laughed about what keys to press on his accordian to make the best noises."I like that big long hair braid you have," she said as she twirled it around in her hands.

Derek the Whizzard helped Jimmy pack up the equipment to load into Barberella the van. "You did a good job Whiz," said Jimmy. "Boys, we gotta get going. Time to load up. Let's continue the party in the van!"

Everyone heard the "interplanetary rock" of the Molls erupts onstage.

Luscious gave a mischievious nod of her head and agreed to go listen to some records at Janx's apartment.

As the band filed out and into the back alley to help load Barbarella, they were startled to see several hoodlums robbing the van! The back door was open and two men were rummaging about, and a third was in the driver's seat trying to hot-wire the van!

Hooter was so busy enjoying his drink and sharing one of his big cigars with Bridgette that he had lost track of time. He was whispering sweet nothings into Bridgettes ear in Dutch, the beer likely doing more for her than the guttural language of love her was showering her with.
Charisma v55 When it was time to load up Barberella and head out, he was reluctant to let go of the blonde bombshell he held in his arms but winked at her and made all the typical promises one would expect as he disengaged and grabbed his accordion in its case and one of the amplifiers to head out.

As they came outside and he saw what was going on with the van, he let out a Hunnish warcry and dropping the equipment made a running jump right through the door of the van to attack the man trying to hotwire it!

AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! YEEEAAAAH! YEAH! YEAH! AAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
I would like to think that somewhere in the distance, Ozzy heard that and thought it would be a great start to an epic song about insane locomotives... likely of Dutch origins.

Janx is peace-loving cat and hasn't been in fight since the 3rd grade, when he and Randy Lambert used fight almost every day after school. The winner would sit on the loser's chest and spit on his face. It was pretty disgusting. He doubts a fight with these mofos would end up that pleasantly.

But anyhow, the sight of these dirty thieves' hands on TPK's precious instruments fills Janx with righteous rage. Kind of like when the bad guy manages to hit Bruce Lee one too many times, and that grim, "Already was just playing before, but now I am seriously going to kill you face." His rather listless THC-infused neurons rapidly fire up and he makes a plan. "Gonna have to bust in on The Molls' set, grab the mic, and set the Rat's crowd on these guys." But then Hooter goes off the rails and charges the thugs! Nothing for it but to help him out. Let's go guys, let's bust up these thieving mofos! Alice, grab The Molls' mic and get the crowd to help us out! He swings a fist of fury at a guy with his paws on Mel's amp. Doesn't connect, but this is just getting started.

Mel freaks out when he sees the thieves taking their gear. He charges towards the van, glad he grabbed one of the last unopened beers, which he throws at any target he sees.

Musical Accompaniment - Fight for Your Right to Party, Beastie Boys

The Battle for Barberella- Round One

Three thugs were robbing Barberella, two men ransacking the back while the third was trying to hot-wire the van.

"Oh my god!" yelled a shocked Maria.

TPK leapt and stumbled into action! Their alcohol and drug saturated bodies giving credence to the band name!

Mel hurled a beer at the thug in the back of the van but it missed and cracked the door window.

"Alice, grab The Molls' mic and get the crowd to help us out!" yelled Janx, but Scamp was already off to rumble.

“Oh! Hell! No! You motherfuckers are DEAD!” Mel snarled as Alice "Scamp" jumped into the van, hands chopping at the neck of one of the holigans in the back. She remembered being better at kung fu in her 7th grade lessons, as her blow only brushed the shoulder to no real effect.

With an ancestral Viking war cry Hooter hurled himself into the back of the van, bowling over the other thug! With a fist well-muscled from thousands of hours of accordian playing, Hooter punched the hoodlum in the stomach than head-butted him in the nose. With a crack of cartilage, the thief's nose flowed blood. He feebly tried to punch back but Hooter blocked.

"Kill 'em!" yelled Bridget, cheering Hooter on.

Janx followed into the van fray, helping Alice with the other thug. Janx swung but the goon raised his arm and shouldered into the blow, clumsily blocking the punch. Beset by two band members, the thief swung wildly and connected with Alice's face! (4 HP)

Barberella roared to life; the thug had hot-wired the vehicle!

"They started the van!" cried Luscious.

Jimmy and Derek were bringing up the rear carrying equipment. They came upon the fight, dropped the equipment, and joined the rumble.

Round Two Actions!
- Dex determines initiative. For simplicity, the average for the group was higher than the thugs average, so you all went first.

- Back of van thug attacks [1d100]=4, [1d100]=34, [1d3]=1, [1d3]=1 The first thug's roll of 4 is a Special Success, doing max damage plus the rolled damage of 1, totaling 4. This first thug is fighting Alice and Janx. Who is hit? The second thug missed Hooter.

- Special Success hits Alice (1-50) or Janx (51-100)? [1d100]=38 He hits Alice. Alice did make a Dodge roll, but against a Special Success it must also be a Special Success Dodge roll which it isn't, so she takes 4.

- Hot Wire success (35)? [1d100]=20 Yes

- This one time, I let Hooter do technically two attacks.

Janx considers trying a Captain James T. Kirk flying dropkick, but decides he'd better play it cools and stick with what he knows. He tries to punch the gear-ripper-offer in the gut, like he and Randy Lambert used to do to each other in the third grade. Earlier he missed with his picking hand, but his fisted fretting hand connects with the thief's dirty, thieving guts.

Mel doesn't really want to get hurt, but he cant stand the idea of loosing any of their gear to common thugs.

He rushes up into the fight, trying to help his friends any way he can. Grabbing a nearby garbage can, he flings it at a thief he can target, likely putting another dent into the beautiful chariot.

The Battle for Barberella - Round Two

Garbage can in hand, Mel rushed into the back of the van. The tight quarters made it difficult to wield the can, and it bumped against the ceiling.

Alice judo chopped again, but the bump of the garbage can threw her off balance and she missed. Derek the "Whizzard" made a grab for the goon's leg to pull him out, but was shaken off. That gave Janx an opening, as he joined the fight and pounded the off-balance thug in the stomach, knocking his breath out.

Hearing the van engine rev, Hooter jumped to the front and landed a solid right hook on the thug driver who was in the middle of changing gears into 'drive.' The van lurched into neutral.

Jimmy suddenly appeared at the driver-side door, grabbed the van thief, and pulled him out of the seat and onto the ground!

"Let go of me man!" he cried, scrambling to get up and away.

The two thugs in the back jumped out. Suddenly outnumbered and two of them battered, the thieves made a run for it.

- Janx's "Special" hit did max damage (3), plus whatever he rolled (3), for a total of 6.
- Jimmy brawl (40) + 10 mod for seated opponent [1d100]=6 A "Special" success!
- Derek brawl (25) [1d100]=31 dam. [1d3]=2 Miss
- Derek dodge [1d100]=2 Yes
- Thugs morale check (3) [1d10]=7 Failed. Needed 3 or lower.

Janx is surprised and impressed by the might of own blow to the scumbag's sorry breadbasket. He considers giving chase to the would-be wheels and gear thieves and putting some more hurt on them, but decides against it. No use beating on somebody who doesn't want to fight, that would be kind of violently uncool. He hopes the girls saw his mighty blow to the sleazebag, though. Because it's pretty unlikely that something like that will ever happen again.

TPK! We kick ass both onstage and in scuzzy alleys! Hooter, well done, you crazy squeezebox squeezer! You get to keep the title of Illustrious Defender of the Stuff, First Class. He does the forearm up bro handshake with him, and is about to do the same with the other guys when he sees Alice's face. Alice, you're hit! His righteous anger returns and he about go out of control, kind of Bruce Banner and the Incredible Hulk. He wishes he'd chased those losers down, but they're too far away now. Alice, you OK? Damn, man. Should we call your mom?

Never being much of a fighter, Mel starts to realize just how inept at it he really is. He is glad to see his bandmates picking up his slack and chasing off the thugs.

He makes sure none of the fleeing thieves has anything in their hands, and if they do, he gives pursuit. Stamina Check (55%) [1d100]=96

He tires out almost immediately after the adrenaline of the fight wears off and heads back to check on the others.
