Pol grits his teeth and wrings his hands on the hilt of his broadsword. "No stinking worm's gonna make a monkey outa me!" He roars, swinging his broadsword with all his might.

Day 1, Turn 0 - The U-Bend


Round 4

Party Initiative: [1d6] = 4, Monster Initiative: [1d6] = 4

Segments: Onn/Pol/Ull 4th, Worm 4th, Theket/Lipput 5th


Entrapped on the giant worm's mouth Onn lashes out with both blades. His magical poignard blindly finds a weak spot somewhere on the crature's head and the blade drives deep, drawing dark ichor.

From his position at the edge of the pool, Pol delivers a mighty sword slash on the worm's body just where it emerges from the glowing blue waters, exposing entrails to open air. A tremor takes hold of the long body of the being in response...it has definitively felt it.

Ull advances to join Pol and takes a swipe at the worm, but misses.

The creature begins falling...nay, it is diving into the waters. Onn feels pricks on his body were the worm's mandibles are piercing his skin...then, horrifically, he senses his lifeblood being drained from him.

Worm Blood Drain: [1d8] = 8

Having exchanged weapons Theket and Lipput charge at the creature diving into the blue glowing pool with their brother in its jaws. They both hit and open new gashes on its body just before it disappears under the surface.

The mass of the plunging worm slashes liquid blue glow in all directions. A few gobs of it hit the half-orcs on the shore and stick to their armor and and clothing much like oil would.

The pool ondulates outward from where the creature dove, sending extending circular ripples. A few seconds pass, then...Onn the Youngest bobs to the surface right next to the shore, free of the worm grasp. He is completely covered in the blue glowing oily liquid.


Round 4 Ends - Combat Ends

Increasinglyworried that he will forever be tiny, Ull grabs the tied rope and starts his climb again.

Roll 7001 was a 27....

Theket sheathes Blacktooth, retrieves his bow and torch, looks around for any arrows he might retrieve, and then steps right to the edge of the pool to see if he can see anything below it's surface any better.

Onn walks out back to shore. He grumbles, "Aggg, stoopid worm!" He tries to clean off the sludge from himself, and then binds his wounds as best he can. As he is walking out of the sludge he is kicking about and keeping an eye out for anything in the water (items, bodies, ect..).

Pol wipes the blue glowing gook from his armor while gazing about the edges of the pool for his daggers, hoping to be able to retrieve as many as possible. "I's prayz to the Dark Master dat dat waz the only one."

Day 1, Turn 1 - The U-Bend


As Ull sets about to resume his climbing (noticing his now more oily nature hampers his climbing a bit), and Pol looks for daggers to salvage; Theket steps right to the edge of the pool and sees his brother Onn attempting to climb out of it.

"Aggg, stoopid wooOOOOooo...!!!" he cries out as he slides spectacularly back into the pool, even before managing to get half his body out of it


It appears the blue substance is so slick, Onn being covered in it prevents him from getting a hold to pull himself out of the pool.

Lipput cursed and sheathed his sword; and then tore off a sleeve of his shirt and using it as a makeshift 'rope'; he tossed towards Onn's hand while yelling out to any of his nearby brothers; "Grab da cloth! One of youse guys take off your shirt and when I pull him outta da water; wrap him in it and pull him up!"

Onn attempts to grab for his brother's rope and pull himself out of the goop, 'ughh, Onn have bad day."

Day 1, Turn 1 - The U-Bend


Onn grabs the sleeve that his brother extend to him, but it is like trying to grab wet soap with humid hands. He can't grasp it, his hand sliding slick off it and he looses balance again. The blue substance covering him seem unforgiving.

Meanwhile, Ull has climbed sideways to other margin of the pond safely.

Ull will hammer in another spike to tie the rope to the wall. that should give his bumbling brothers a fair chance to get across the blue slick.

Theket points at the blue liquid and says, "Mebbe we should bring some o' dis wit us?"

"Here's a spot where I didn't pee, who got sumthin to put sum o' dis in?"

With that, he decides it's a good time to take a good swig out of his wineskin, and then he looks around at his brothers.

Pol tears both sleeves of his shirt off and takes the one sleeve from Lipput. He then ties the three sleeves into one long cloth rope. "Triez to hold yer arms up," he says to Onn, holding his own up as a gesture to what he wants his brother to do. He then slips the cloth rope around the upper part of his brother's torso and says "Now putz yer arms down, we'll pull ya in."

Day 1, Turn 1 - The U-Bend


Pol's idea works. After some ordering and fidgeting they manage to "rope" Onn. He he is not pulled away from the pond as much as he's slid of it, dragged over the rim like a wet well until he is one solid ground.

Onn discovers that, try as he might, he can't stand up. Every part of his body in contact with the ground that he tries to use as leverage to pull himself up skids so wonderfully getting a grip is impossible. If flailing efforts look quite comical to his brothers, reminding them of the time they attempted to do some ice-skating in their younger days...but cracked up to 11.


Clearly, until Onn his washed off the bluish gunk covering him he won't be able to do much progress in achieving a vertical position.


Meanwhile Theket ponders on how to carry a sample of the strange liquid. Taking tally of equipment the obvious options would be to use one of the gourds (which are all filled with wine), or sacrifice a helmet as an impromptu, sloshing bucket.

One the other margin, Ull hammers in another spike. There is now a safety rope across the right wall providing some assurance of not falling into the blue pool if someone botches their climbing efforts.

Theket sees his brother in need of removing the blue oil. He thinks to himself, I can't just pour it on him won't scrub it enough, followed after a moment or four by, but I ain't want to get that on me!

His eyes brighten just a little as he gets a thought.

"Oy, Onn, hold ya's still!"
Theket takes a big swig of his wine and then spits it forcibly on the blue oil on his brother Onn, to wash it away. He continues until he is out of wine or the blue oil is gone, then he drinks whatever wine is left, and he picks up his bow and any arrows not in the blue oil and climbs the right wall with the aid of the safety rope.

When he reaches the other side, he tries to drink again from his gourd, and then carefully fills it with the blue oily liquid in the pool and caps it tight.

Onn thinks Thicket just like spitting on him. He snarls a bit, but tries to get the wine to wash his hands off. Once his hands have the blue stuff cleaned off of them, he carefully tries to get the goop off of the rest of him, using the ground, anything remaining of the shirt. "Hey yoose brothers, how about any of you have some rags or cloth?"

Theket's idea works. It costs him the full content of his gourd, but the alcoholic liquid does a wonderful job of doing away with the blue oily substance covering Onn. It dissolves it more than washes it away.

Soon Onn is just wet and reeking of wine, rather that wet and super-slick and stand and walk normally.

4 brothers stand on the side of the pool they arrived at. Ull stand on the margin across the pipe-tunnel continuing beyond into the darkness. On the right wall a rope spiked on both ends spans the pool; as does the giant tweezers on it middle forming the improvised bridge.

What will the brothers do now?

Theket says to his brothers, "Anyone think that lens we need at the bottom o' dis?" He looks at the pool of blue liquid. "We know how to get rid of the stuff if someone good swimmer wants to look for lens or other loot." He says as he fills his gourd up with the slippery stuff.
