Either way, Celionas fancies himself as a bit of a cartographer and will be keeping at least a rough party map.

Yes, I'll post a map once you have done some exploring.

So, if we all have infravision, do we need torches, unless we need to read something, or possibly do a detailed search for traps?

Infravision will give you an idea as to dimensions and creatures present as long as there are heat differences. If there is something on the wall, infravision will not allow you to see it or read it. It's up to the group whether or not you want to proceed with infravision or a light source. But you can work your way through the dungeon with just infravision.

Maybe a caster could cast Continual Light on a coin so we do not need a torch?

A novel idea... but I don't see where any of us casters know that spell.

I brought a lantern and a gallon of lamp oil, I have used enough night vision to know just how limiting it is.

Having some experience with Thermal Imagers, I thought it might be like that.

Sounds like a light source is a good idea, we might miss something important.

The downside is we will be announcing our arrival/position.

If everyone in the group has infravision, my recommendation would be to take advantage of this fact. We can still use a light source, but do so selectively and sparingly (e.g. after we enter a new room and determine it's free of monsters, during downtime, etc...).

Just my thoughts.

I agree Dave, didn't mean to imply otherwise. It is a huge stealth advantage and it also goes to resource management as well. But searching rooms and a few other things are going to require light to be done right.

Sure

So right now it is safe to use a light source

Just so I know going forward; at this time you ARE using a light source? Who is carrying it and what is it?

With infravision, the suit of armor is so cold as to blend into background. The reason you didn't see it at first is the armor is the same temperature as the surrounding stone and it was not moving. Now that it is moving, you can faintly see it (like the Predator when it was cloaked.) But it still shows as cold as the surrounding environment.
