Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Hazrahi checks anyone who looks "dead" but isn't a brigand. He will use his Lay on Hands power in an attempt to revive them.
If all the dead people are fully dead, he'll look to see if any of the captives need medical assistance.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Khawaji searches the area, looking for other bandits. For the moment, all seems quiet. Hamiya's vulture perches on one of the bandits, and begins pecking at his eye.
Hazrahi quickly checks each of the fallen men who don't seem to be bandits. They seem to have been men-at-arms, with light armor and swords. They are all dead or at least grievously wounded. One has taken a sword blow in the mouth, which has knocked out most of his teeth and severed his tongue. One looks like he has had his head caved in with a rock. Another has been peppered with three arrows. The one with his head caved in might be breathing, barely, but he will take more than Hazrahi's prayers to fix.
Jaskar calls Etti to bring the animals forward. They move closer, but he keeps them at a short distance from the battle scene, as the animals seem a bit spooked.
Hamiya goes to the captives. She finds two captives. A handsome young man in nice looking leather armor, who seems a little dazed, and a middle aged man, who cries out "They almost killed us! The bandits, they killed the guards... and my poor mule! Where are my goods? Are they safe? We were on our way south, to Rangu, and they almost killed us!"

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Hazrahi asks the party members who have the Healing proficiency to look to the wounded guards.
He will use Lay on Hands on the guard with the head wound in the hopes of increasing his chances of survival.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Hamiya asks How many bandits attacked you, and how long ago?
Jaskar keeps his bow ready, and checks for tracks around the perimeter of the battlefield.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Aghilas rides closer, to hear the captives speak.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Khawaji and Solomon will both try healing anyone that they can.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Willow will also try healing anyone she can.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Working as quickly as they can, Khawaji, Solomon and Willow try to save the downed guards. They confirm Hazrahi's assessment that two of the guards are too far gone to save, but then, with help of Hazrahi's blessing and some bandages, they are able to revive the guard who had suffered the blow to the head. He opens his eyes, and takes Solomon's hand, but is not yet able to stand. (He is healed to 1 hp by a combination of lay on hands and a successful Cure Serious from the healers. He needs 2 weeks bed rest to recover. If you want to move on to trying to resue bandits, let me know...)
The older man calms down slightly when he sees that his goods, several bags of grain and two crates of fine wine bottles, are safe, but then he despairs when he realizes that without the cart, the grain will be difficult to transport.
It becomes clear that this group was headed to the Rangu Watchtower, the same place you are going. Rangu is a small Kuntani village around a tower intended to secure a mountain pass. The village is plagued by bandit attacks, though, like the one you just stopped, and in need of people to deal with the bandits.
The middle aged man, Rankin, was on his way to Rangu with business for the village provisioner, a man he calls Abed. He was travelling with three guards and a minstrel named Keba. At this point, Rankin points to the other captive, indicating that this is Keba. When they came to this point, the bandits you killed jumped out and attacked them. After killing the guards, they tied them up and started celebrating. Eventually, you showed up. Rankin is tired, and very scared, and asks you to, please, take him to Rangu with you.
While the group talks, Jaskar searches the perimeter for tracks, and finds the footprints of several men leading up a narrow little goat trail up to the top of the wall of the ravine you are in. From up there, one would probably have a good view of travellers on the road...
Sensing that all is quiet, Aghilas dismounts and recovers his javelins.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Jaskar tells the group of the path he found.
We have spare capacity with our mule and horses to help transport your goods.
He then turns to search the bandits for any valuables.
Hamiya caws to Kareek There will be time to eat later. Take flight and warn us of any more men approach.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Once the wounded have been looked after, Hazrahi assists with searching the bodies of the brigands.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Willow has a mule too assuming it hasn't died of neglect or something. He can probably get some of his stuff on that one too.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
The mules are fine, none the worse for wear. The goods can certainly be packed onto the mules with little problem. The wounded guard, still addled from his traumatic head wound, is barely able to walk, though. He would not likely be able to make the trip to the tower without some kind of ride, at least not before nightfall.
Searching the bandits, you find that each one has a few silver pieces. Altogether, you find 57 silver among them. They also have leather armor, shields, short swords and short bows.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Jaskar invites Etti to help himself to any of the bandits gear if he would like. Let's load up everything we can haul and make haste to the tower. He turns to the injured guard. You can ride my horse. I will walk.
Jaskar also refills his quiver from the bandits arrows.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Khawaji will help by carrying stuff if need be, but he feels we need to get moving soon.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Hazrahi helps to load up the mules and gather any loot the party is taking.
Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Sorry, just to be clear... are you planning to take the bandits' gear (which might fit under "everything we can carry") or just to let Etti take some stuff?
With multiple mounts, you probably could take all of that stuff, if you wanted.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Aghilas looks over the gathered bandits' gear. I could possibly put these to good use. Until I can afford better.
Aghilas will take a shield, short sword, short bow and quiver of arrows, if they are of standard quality, slinging them on his horse for now.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Etti and Aghilas help themselves to some of the bandit gear, and the rest is stowed on the mules. The wounded guard is gotten up on Jaskar's horse. The company sets off again, much more slowly, for the Rangu Watchtower. Etti walks proudly in his new armor, though he seems to spend a lot of the walk hitching up his pants and pausing to adjust his hold on the shield.
A couple of hours later, you arrive at the watchtower. From a distance, you spy the squat, tower of black stone. As you come closer, you see that a few outbuildings are built at the foot of the tower. It looks like they include an inn and a stable. Rankin seems quite excited to have finally reached here.

Re: Chapter 2: Bandit Hunting
Khawaji will do a quick recon of the fort's perimeter.
