Re: Expedition - Anwyn/Slopethistle - 11 March, 1 VC
"This...it makes no sense," Thisby says, then turns to Anwyn. "Do you see this? I don't suppose one of your spells covers deciphering strange gibberish. Maybe if we copy it down we can show it to someone in town. Do you have anything to write with?"

Anwyn reads the text, anwyn speaks orc, goblin, and common. does she understand this?

Anwyn's intelligence allows her to recognize that it is a language, but not to decipher it unfortunately.
Re: Expedition - Anwyn/Slopethistle - 11 March, 1 VC
"Damn it all..."says Anwyn, "Master Lo never taught me the spell to comprehend languages. Maybe there will be someone in town that can translate this."
Anwyn asks Thisby"Do you want to continue to town or take a closer look at this place? I'm ok with either."

Thisby touches the broken door warily, and considers. "Hm. Let's just take a quick peek in here, see what we're dealing with. If it looks too involved, I'd rather get paid for the thistle, and use that gold to get supplies and return." She begins to walk into the place, pausing to touch the interior wall. Her eyes narrow as she inspects the entranceway.

Anwyn follows Thisby close enough to give support if anything happens.

March 12, 1 VC - 3:10pm
Thisby takes a close look around the perimeter of the doorway and discovers that a large, wide stone on the doorstep is set to depress when weight is placed upon it. Without noticing it first, it would be unlikely that anyone could step through the doorway without stepping on it.

Before passing the door, Thisby silently raises her hand."Oh-hoho," she chuckles. "Someone doesn't want us going in there," she says, and explains the mechanism to Anwyn. "Which makes me all the more curious..."
"With this trap in place, I'm sure no one else is getting in anytime soon, at least in once piece. I could try to disable this, or we could go back and prepare ourselves. Actually, perhaps we should go back and get that deciphered, figure out what this place really is before going in there..."

Anwyn replies, "Ok, lets go back to town then. I need a few supplies if we are to go in there anyway." Anwyn starts walking towards Vaul.

Thisby takes one last look into the darkness beyond the doorway and grins, then follows Anwyn back to Vaul.
Re: Expedition - Anwyn/Slopethistle - 11 March, 1 VC
You estimate that with a straight run through the rain you'll get back to town a few hours after dark. Will you push on, or find a spot to camp?
Re: Expedition - Anwyn/Slopethistle - 11 March, 1 VC
I vote that we push for town. I think the closer to town we get there will be a lower chance of an unwanted encounter. I HOPE

I also elect we forge ahead--a few hours after dark shouldn't be too bad (he says with sheer dread)
Re: Expedition - Anwyn/Slopethistle - 11 March, 1 VC
March 12, 1 VC - 10:30pm
The pair make their way through the dark in the falling rain, across the muddy and tortuously-twisted moor, finally straggling through the gates of Vaul as midnight draws near.
They gather up another 0.6 pounds of slopethistle before it gets too dark or dangerous to go looking around steep slopes in the rain.
This expedition is at an end, and I am automatically advancing Anwyn and Thisby to March 13 since it is so late at night.
Please deduct lodging cost for one night, and one day's rations apiece.
Rewards:
3.0 pounds of slopethistle (3gp value, 3xp) - we'll consider this returned to Ghrym, so please divide up your 3gp spoils in the tavern thread.
25xp for conversation with the goblins
25xp for taking a copy of the writing at the ruin
Total: 53xp, or 27xp per character before bonuses for high prime requisite scores. Please update your character sheets appropriately.
