Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
I have no problem with concussion hits from non-lethal weapons for subdual. Like fists, kicks, choke, ect... but if you do more damage than they have HP then it could still kill.
Bobby turns and curses you aloud as Sarah tackles you in a grapple. You lose the arrow but still hold the bow if you want.
You easily out weigh her and throw her to the ground but lose action this round unless it's to hit her.
Bobby lunges at Elvis as well, swinging his bag but misses.
No need to roll strength against hers for grapple..

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
Elvis fights back, drawing his sword at first opportunity. He'll hit with the flat of the blade as long as Bobby & Sarah are well away from their weapons.
How was Sarah able to approach and tackle me without me getting an arrow off? I'm basically twice as fast as her unless she also has increased speed.
Also, I'd suggest we wait for Zengar to weigh in before resolving each combat round. Don't want to fight these two solo.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
Being ready for this assault, Zengar whips out his Wand of Small Critter Harming and will pistol-whip Bobby over the head, hoping to knock him out. He will actually draw Ragnez and begin slashing at Bobby if the bandit duo regain their weaponry and attack.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
players are rolling their own characters dice rolls. Roll d20 to hit Bobby.GronkTheBold wrote:Being ready for this assault, Zengar whips out his Wand of Small Critter Harming and will pistol-whip Bobby over the head, hoping to knock him out. Edit: if you're not familiar with the roller here, this is an easy macro
Scimitar [1d20+4] Damage:[1d10+3]

Rolling to-hit in melee: [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 Edit: I apologize, the macro added +1 for some reason. Please count it as 11 instead.tooleychris wrote: players are rolling their own characters dice rolls. Roll d20 to hit Bobby.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
it would be easier to include damage rolls in case it's a successful hit. In this case the pistol butt, er...wand that kills small pests, does 1d4 damage +strength mod
Zengar bravely attacks the obvious force of evil, hitting Bobby.
roll 1d4 dmg

"You're lucky I'm feeling merciful today!" Zengar wallops Bobby over the head with the pistol.
Pistol-Whip: [1d4] = 3
Adding +1 for my strength bonus, that would be 4 damage.

You did the macro correct. It's showing the roll THEN adding the bonus.GronkTheBold wrote:Rolling to-hit in melee: [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 Edit: I apologize, the macro added +1 for some reason. Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
however your to hit bonus for ALL physical attacks is based on dex and NOT strength so you do not get a+1to hit. Only damage.
Zengar lands a solid blow to Bobby who reels to face him.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
If Elvis has been able to get free and draw his sword, he attacks Sarah twice with the flat of his blade.
Long sword: [1d20] = 10 Damage: [1d8] = 7
Long sword: [1d20] = 3 Damage: [1d8] = 6
Stupid dice.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
Elvis, taking great care to use the flat of his blade, strikes quickly but is unable to land a hit.
Sarah scurried to her feet and faces Elvis as Bobby readies another swing at Zengar.
Action order
1. Elvis x2
2. Sarah
3. Zengar
4 Bobby
Elvis has first action this round. Initiative is based on dexterity score with modifiers for speed.

Twice more with the flat of the blade at Sarah:
Long sword: [1d20] = 8 Damage: [1d8] = 2

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
Sarah quickly, VERY quickly, dodges the first blow of Elvis' blade but as Elvis swings to follow through, connects with her shoulder.
Sarah spins to kick at him but misses horribly, tripping on a rock and falling yet again to her bottom.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
Before Bobby can counter the wizard, Zengar attempts to pistol whip him again with a quick swipe.
Roll To-Hit: [1d20] = 9
Damage, if it is a hit: Pistol-Whip: [1d4] = 1 +1 equals 2.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
I'm about to go offline for a few hours. In the interest of moving this along in my absence, if you'd like, here are two more rounds of attack rolls. Elvis will keep attacking Sarah with the flat of his blade until she yields or falls unconscious; if she becomes a legitimate threat, he'll start using the edge.
Long sword: [1d20] = 18 Damage: [1d8] = 2
Long sword: [1d20] = 3 Damage: [1d8] = 2
Long sword: [1d20] = 3 Damage: [1d8] = 5

Long sword: [1d20] = 19 Damage: [1d8] = 4

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
Bobby seems to have kept his senses as he deftly ducks Zengars swing.
"Too fast for ya, you freak?" He growls and punches his face for 1 damage. A glancing blow!

"Such arrogance would have been punished in the glorious days of old!" Zengar, furious at the young man's taunts, grabs his shoulder and beats him once again with the pistol.
Roll To-Hit: [1d20] = 20
Damage: Pistol-Whip: [1d4] = 1 +1 = 2 damage.

Re: The Sign(for Zengar and Elvis)
new house rule:
2. Critical hits (a natural roll of 20) do maximum damage for the weapons type then add STR modifiers.
A second to hit roll is then made. IF this one also hits then the damage is doubled. If the second roll is also a critical then add attackers entire strength score to damage.
So Zengar needs another to hit roll.

Sarah staggers under another blow from Elvis ' swift blade. Remaining prone she kicks out trying to break his knee but he leaps over the attempt. She regains her feet in a flash.
