Corbeau Boucher

Corbeau provides Bisharah with the details of the job.

Jonas is impressed by Alix's work

"What's the chances of being able to remotely hack the building to see if they've got an electronic alarm system? It's just that I'd prefer to know if they've got some kind of remote alarm before we go in."

That sounds like the kind of thing you could do on premises - investigate for and then disable any alarm you find. I don't think you could get that in your prep.

Outside of this question - I'll have a more substantial post shortly once work dies down a bit.

Nice job on the prep work, I'll call an end to it here to move things forward. I'm happy to clarify things you've already learned.

Once again:
Location: Franklin Logistics, New Hope, Mer, Aliya System
Date: 1/2/3200

The truck and groundcar arrive on time. Fortunately, the truck is fully self-driving and pre-programmed with a destination on the outskirts of New Hope. Between the two vehicles, you have plenty of room for everybody to stretch out on the nearly one hour drive. Eventually, the truck pulls into an industrial park and winds its way to its final destination. A sign in front advertises Franklin Logistics. The building itself is a modest sized warehouse with a door for entering into an office area and two loading dock doors for the warehouse area.

The weather is clear and notably, the warehouse is dark including the parking area and loading docks. There are other buildings nearby with some signs of activity but nearby traffic is light. The truck has come to a stop in the parking area outside the building; a blinking button on the dashboard says: "Press to Dock".

Your instructions from your employer are that the equipment you need to pick up is in the warehouse section and it appears that the truck is capable of docking itself for loading and delivery.

Alix Conzweth taps the button to dock. He preps his compad, ready to hack into any on site security if need be.

OOC : questions
do any of the doors have a window in them? unless the overhead auto-opens once the truck docks

Corbeau Boucher

I am good for overseeing the loading and lookout. Bisharah should be able to lend a hand in loading the goods.

Corbeau looks from the vehicle’s windows as they begin the docking procedure.

Hey Bisharah you get a good night’s rest last night?, Corbeau says as he scans the loading dock.

Alix Conzweth
OOC : questions
do any of the doors have a window in them?

No but there are three windows on the floor plan; one off the cubicle area, one off the office and one off the warehouse on the right side of the picture.
Alix hits the dock button and the truck lurches into motion with a sigh, releasing compressed gas holding the brakes in place. It lurches ahead, conducts an inch-perfect turn and backs into the first loading dock. As the truck comes to a stop, the dashboard panel changes to read "Final Destination Pre-Loaded; Press Here to Depart". The overhead door does not open to receive the truck.

A quick plan is hatched with Jonas, Corbeau and Bisharah on lookout while Alix addresses any security. Everybody notices a door that is not on the floor plan to the left of the left garage door. This door was observed earlier in the day (and it's possible somebody forgot to put it on the floor plan ) and has an old fashioned mechanical lock on the door. The main entrance is on the opposite side of the building.

Bisharah nods to Corbeau and says, "You know it, honey. I don't know. I guess I like a little action."

Shion Kuznetsov

The woman to the rear of the truck checks over the laser pistol in her hand for the third time since departing, well-practiced fingers darting deftly over the matte black weapon. Aldega Arms model IV, civilian issue, no modifications; reliable, and utterly ubiquitous this close to Mankira Niti. Briefly lamenting the current necessity of carrying an untraceable firearm, she reholsters the weapon at the thigh of her black cargo trousers and takes a moment to consider the rest of her team. They all seemed accustomed to this kind of work, to varying degrees at least, though the presence of the wheelchair-bound Corbeau was one of the niggling doubts gnawing away at the back of Shion's mind, one of the reasons why she doubted this simple collection job was as it seemed. She checks her pistol one last time as the truck comes to a stop at the warehouse with a small jolt, pulling on the dark facemask that lay around her neck and speaking up for the first time. "I want a closer look at that generator. I need someone to watch my back."

Alix Conzweth

Alix hops out of the truck as soon as it docks, compad in one hand, metatool in the other. He scurries over to the door with the mechanical lock, looks around, then drops to one knee. He sets his compad on the concrete and works the metatool into the lock.

Disston slips out of the truck and scans the area for any security measures that they may not have noticed from the earlier recon and then sets to help Alix with the locked door.

Shion Kuznetsov

"Why it's here at all." she replies, looking Jonas up and down appraisingly. This is the one with the mercenary gait, the one who carried himself with the confidence of a man accustomed to combat. He would have been her first choice. "If its anything more than a back-up, there's a chance I can take the whole warehouse offline." The military woman says no more, hopping out of the truck and moving swiftly for the generator, face covered as best it can be against any hidden security surveillance.

Jonas

"We should be wary that taking down the power might trip a remote alarm somewhere"

He heads over to the generator with Shion, "This one obviously knows how to look after herself, a useful ally" he thinks to himself. He does his best to guide them along a route with the best cover available:

Sneak (0): [2d6] = 5

Once they arrive at the generator he looks it over, interested in anything that might show that it's wired into an alarm, before taking up a lookout position:

Notice (0): [2d6] = 9

Shion and Jonas go to examine the generator. It is a fairly standard commercial backup generator. On one side there is an all-weather touchscreen display that is flashing red. The display reads "Backup Power Offline". There is no additional security attached to it, other than for normal generator safety and maintenance.
With that Fix roll, you get a little more info
It is very strange to Shion that the backup power would be offline. This is supposed to never happen automatically. Likewise a touchscreen on an outdoor generator like this should have the security locked down, with it only accessible for use during maintenance.

Alix moves up to the access door next to the loading dock above which is a light that is currently off. He pulls out his metatool while Disston shines a light, helpfully over the lock. After a minute of work, the lock clicks. Removing the tool from the lock, Alix and Disston can see a small scratch on the lock where the tool entered the lock.

The warehouse inside seems like it closely matches the floorplan. All overhead lights are currently off. To the left is the office and cubicle area with signs that it was at least recently being used - pictures on desks, coats hung on chairs, papers on desks. To the right are the two loading doors, currently down with a wall mounted touch screen computer between them, with the display currently on. In fact, the computer is the only light you can see in the entire facility.

Straight ahead is the warehouse area. You see a pair of floor to ceiling racks for holding product, although currently empty of any product. Lined up, staged and ready to go for shipping is the only product in the facility - 11 wooden pallets, each with a 4 ft. high wooden crate on it.

Disston

Disston moves to take a closer look at the crates and how they are secured to the pallets and locked or nailed shut, watching as he goes for any motion detecting security.

Corbeau Boucher

Corbeau remains with the truck pondering the "Final Destination Pre-Loaded" message, I wonder if any of our hackers here can determine where this truck is bound after we finish the job., he thinks.

Hey Bisharah, glad to hear you keep yourself busy...can you give these folks a hand and keep an eye out.

Corbeau positions himself towards the back of the truck surveying the dark warehouse looking for signs of the group as they inspect the generator and look over the pallets.

Shion Kuznetsov

After spending a few moments with the generator, Shion takes a step back and shakes her head to Jonas. "Someone's disabled the auxiliary power, and recently. They even left the access open." Her hand falls to her right thigh, gently brushing the grip of the laser pistol; something that happens often when she's deep in thought. "I don't like this. Something's not right." Leaving the generator for the time being, Shion makes to rendezvous with the others inside the warehouse, moving with Jonas if he would join her.
