I didn't recognize anything, maybe you guys can. And hopefully there will be something useful for you, Ioriston.

Gerland peers over the shoulders of the others as they look through the contents of the chest.

The longsword seems familiar to Ioriston, like he's read about this somewhere...

Kelton has a look at the items in the groups first big haul.
[1d20] = 20
Before anyone does anything rash! So, this chest was just lying at the bottom of the crevasse? Not hidden and in plain view? Doesn't that seem odd to any of you?

Well, it was hidden to anyone not down in the crevasse. It was nestled in a crevice about ten feet up the wall of the crevasse.

Kelton smiles and let's his paranoid fears subside as he continues to look things over.
Did you check the bodies too?

Still not quite put at ease by the smile. Kelton usually had good grounding for his paranoia. And paranoia saves lives.
I did check the bodies. Nothing of note though I brought up the weapons I found on them for that deal with the shopkeeper- two short swords and two daggers. I also checked each end of the crevasse to see if maybe there were any passages.

What do you make of the potions and scroll, Loriston? I don't suppose you can tell what they are just by looking them over?
If we have gathered everything that we can here, lets cross the northern bridge and check out that room to the north. Those supposed prisoners must be down here somewhere.
Once this place is cleared out, we can head back into town. If you are in bad shape right now, don't feel bad about staying in the back of the group. I am so far uninjured and don't mind taking the lead position for now.
Is everyone ready?

I'll ready ready to go back to town once I'm done with the analysis of the potions and the longsword.

While everyone is loot gathering Kael is just keeping quiet. He hopes that the party's haul wont get them all killed with the time delay.

Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout
Kelton takes the sword and looks it over.
Wait a minute! This weapon looks familiar to me. I think this longsword was known to have belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk. If so, there should be the name "Talon" inscribed on the blade.
He draws the sword to confirm that it is indeed the same sword he has recently heard about. He waves it around in the air in an impressive, fluid motion.
If there are no objections, I wouldn't mind trying this steel out on our next enemy. How it got to be down here I can only imagine.

Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout
I will take the potions and the scroll. These are probably potions of invisibility based on my analysis of the wizard's worktable. Unfortunately, without any extra assistance, my guess is only contextual conjecture. The only way to truly determine the effects of the contents is consumption.
Ioriston would like to read the scroll. (I'm not sure which check that is, so I'm giving you a couple.):
Arcana Check: [1d20+5] = 13+5 = 18
Insight Check: [1d20+3] = 13+3 = 16

Gerland nods affirmatively to Kelton's statement. "I just read the same in a book before leaving the monastery. Fortune smiles upon us if it truly is Black Hawk's Talon."

Clearly etched onto the lower haft of the blade is the word TALON.OGRE MAGE wrote:He draws the sword to confirm that it is indeed the same sword he has recently heard about. He waves it around in the air in an impressive, fluid motion.
It is a scroll of Spider Climb.wordoftheoracle wrote:Ioriston would like to read the scroll.
Haven't heard from Aslaan, and Kael does not want any of the treasure.
So...are we ready to move out? You are planning on checking the upper storage room right?
This area is the north end of the large natural cavern, but it has been finished with dressed stone block walls and a flagstone floor. Several barrels are stored against the walls here, along with a number of empty crates, straw for packing, hammer, ply bars, and nails.
Lying among the barrels is a stack of beaver pelts.
Actions?
Winter is coming...
Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout
Aslaan
Aslaan has no objections to the claims to treasure although he does express interest in hearing what is special about the sword that was found. The two daggers and two short swords that were found are stowed out of the way on his body.
Hopefully these items can help us with what comes next. I can take lead or second position. Where to now?
Arrow nocked, Aslaan stands ready for instructions.

Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout
This area screams of weapons running or some other vile business!
Kelton quickly tries to discern what might be in the barrels.
If there is nothing of immediate interest or value in the northern storage room, Kelton suggests moving through the east side of the crevasse cavern to investigate the last few rooms to the east. He leads the way if this is agreeable.
Stay close As, your bow may still be needed in here.

In the northern storage room, Gerland points to the western wall and says, "Does anyone but me see that section of wall looks like it opens?"
Moving a little further into the room, the priest points at the eastern alcove. "There's another one."
ybn1197 rarely checks in on the weekend, so I'm posting for him; his passive Perception score easily picks out the two secret doors. Map to follow in a bit.

A day late, but here is the updated map. Secret doors marked with red arrows.

Re: Chapter 3 > Redbrand Hideout
Aslaan
Aslaan carefully checks the western secret door since this is heading back the direction they came from.
perception check [1d20+3] = 5+3 = 8
If no traps/dangerous oddness/funny business detected then Aslaan tries to slowly open the door.
But first a nod to anyone who was checking the barrels and crates with a cocked eyebrow as if to ask what they found.
