Jamal sneaks up to the cave entrance and listens to his companions dialogue with the woman.

Something isn’t right Alara, be ready! With the levitation spell upon his lips he enters the cave invisibly, Alara flying unseen beside him holding on to his hair like a leash.

OOC: Not really sure why some are acting like this conversation is going on in a cave it isn't this is going on outside of the 3rd cave near the boulders that are outside of it. Soraya is standing near the boulders outside of the cave, just to clarify. Below is the current area you are in.

Ameer decided to give up on trying to save the others from themselves. He imagined that the ambush this woman had planned would occur momentarily, and when that happened, they would all see things for what they truly were. As much as he tried to control their fate, it had other plans. He gestured to his retainers to let everyone pass.

OOC: I was under the impression that the party had made it to just inside the cave entrance when they found the woman. It doesn't really matter though.

A Trap?

Soraya leads those who are offering aid to her off behind the boulders. Though the others that don't trust this strange woman stay further back with caution. Heading behind the boulders and more towards the final cave the helping folk soon see that this charming young woman truly was leading sheep to slaughter. Three wereheyena's come out of a hidden opening between the boulders and the woman changes form into another wereheyena. Those that were under the effects of the woman's charm or out of other reasons soon come to realize their were duped and possibly influenced by means of some sorcery. The group finds that they are between the boulders and the 3rd cave. While they are not surrounded they are facing 4 wereheyenas at the same time.

The wereheyena's begin to fan out and try to block the group from moving forward towards the final cave. Leaving the options fight, run for the 3rd cave or head back towards the other first two caves in retreat or another strategy. The hirelings all stay further back closer to the second cave leaving the true adventuring folk to deal with the mythical were creatures thinking they are far more experienced than a bunch of hired guards. One of the other wereheyena's looks exactly like Batul the one that was with the dao Ynadin that everyone except Jamal met earlier in the travel here.

Asad bellows with battle rage "You cowards! Feel my steel!" and charges into combat - his blood boiling for battle. His ineffectiveness of the previous battle forgotten.

Yelps in surprise though part of her somehow knew it was a setup despite how she was compelled to go along with it. She uncorks the waterjug of sand at her hip and sends it out to blind and scower the faces of their werehyena hosts.

Not sure if there is a way to make it a weapon, but i had the thought of a sandblaster to the face. Otherwise it will be a game of blind and taking their balance away by manipulating the ground they stand on.

Jamal, still invisible, moves around the combat towards cave 4 behind the werehyena’s, hoping to circumvent the immediate battle and check to see if he can find the mystic! If he can’t go over the land due to the creatures blocking the whole area, he will move to the rock wall and levitate up ten feet, and pull himself along across the rock face over the battle, asking his invisible wind gen to push him along as well.

Abrex looks horrified and disgusted as she turns to a Werehyena...….then, "You Bitch.....Your treachery will not go unpunished. Attack friends."


Abrex assists Asad as he moves in but fights defensively as the odds are not in his favor and attacks Soraya or Butal.

Unsurprised that his taunting didn't work, Dubb follows the smitten to the trap. He chuckles lightly as he sees the reactions of those who were surprised. He would be laughing more, but the situation is dire. "Focus on one! Who has the weapons?!"
Dubb rushes forward and makes a circle in the sand with the water from a small vial. He reaches out and pats Asad on the back while praying for help. "May the fates be with you" casts protection from evil on Asad

Anuzal - You treacherous whore! He then hears Dubb. Turns his attention to the werehyena with the weapon and attacks.

The sha'ir realizes he had fallen victim to foul magic at roughly the same time his gen returns after unsuccessfully searching for a spell. I'm sorry, Master, it wasn't- whoa, where'd they come from? the efreetkin asks, noticing the werehyenas.

Never mind! Find me another spell, and hurry! Almost forgetting to tell Jafar what spell to seek, he hastily adds, Uh, Sundazzle! Hurry!

2nd Level Wizard Spell (60%): [1d100] = 78; Search Time (rounds): [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7; Delay (if rolled 00): [1d10] = 5

Unfortunately, it'll be 7 rounds before Benham realizes the spell attempt was unsuccessful.

Until the gen returns with a spell, Iskandar is really of no use. Nevertheless, he waves his quarterstaff at one of the werehyenas in an ineffectual attempt at combat.

Ameer lamented that he had been unable to sway the others from proceeding so foolishly into this obvious trap, then again, Asad would probably have done it anyway without magical influence. He studied the situation from his position near the rear and had hit upon an idea on how to be useful, when he noticed the sorceress' (Emma) spell begin to take effect. The scholar decided to observe the end result before moving to act.

Initiative: PCs [1d10] = 2 NPCs [1d10] = 9PC's go first!

Before battle starts the one of the werehyenas slowly vanishes from sight like a mirage fading away.

Abrex: attacks Batul hitting for 9 dmg!
Ameer: observes Emma's sand spell to see how it affects the werehyenas.
Anuzal: uses Emma's magical jambaya to attack Soraya inflicting 9 dmg!
Asad: forgetting entirely that his non-magical blade is ineffective against the werehyenas attacks but misses anyway.
Benham: sends Jafar to fetch a spell hopefully and attempts to defend himself with his staff but fails to hit much other than sand.
Dubb: casts protection from evil on Asad hoping to improve the rash warriors defenses.
Emma: casts Move Sands which causes sand to mess with the werehyena's vision and attacks. -1 to attack for foes
Jamal: invisible and levitating at will goes off to cave 4 and scouts the situation out.
