Despite some bumps in the road, we actually had a lot of fun there.

I played in some Fate of the Norns, Mothership, Trail of Cthulhu, OSE, Hyperborea, and some 1E.

Garycon isn't our favorite convention, but I thought they did a pretty good job putting it on with limited issues after a long 2 year delay.

Let me know if you ever want to swing out to give it a try for yourself some year. :D

I would like to get out there someday, but work and family commitments prevent it. Perhaps in my retirement. In the meantime I make do with our local TotalCon, which has a respectable OSR track.

I mentioned it in OM's Big Shiny Island thread, but I'm going to a local boardgaming con next week. It will be my first time playing an RPG in-person, with plastic polyhedron dice, since 1985. From then until 2019 was busy with work, patrolling for girlfriend/wife, and kids. Still busy with work, but when kids left home, had some free time again. Seriously looking forward to 3.5 hours of 5E RPG.

Thanks bro. :) I'm going with the missus, who's an oil painter originally from Japan and who has a big imagination. I bounce homebrew ideas off her, and she says, "That is so cool! It would be so cool if you guys had, like a map! Do you have a map? What if you were all assassins? On a mission, and the evil villain used finylmatol to eliminate all of the poor and takes over. And he finds out that his own daughter in an Ivy League college, who has a perfect life, but dad never suspected anything could be wrong-- is she's also addicted to finlymatol. The addiction he introduced is in his home too."

I think I'm going to take this imaginative person to a local RPG con this Saturday. Unless you guys say No. She could turn into some kind of who knows what. A Netflix GM or something.

That's nice the wife wants to go. My wife, a non-gamer, would not go to a con.

I have never been to a convention and my wife probably wouldn't want to as she hates crowds, but she is a dedicated gamer as long as it is table top.

Janx suddenly gets an earworm from some years ago. He stops what he's doing and tries to work out the guitar part on his six-string. (Bill Withers, "Use Me," https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3hBYTkI)

I am headed out for our spring vacation soon so my posting might be a little spotty for the next few weeks.

I will try to keep up with posts as best I can, but if I am MIA for a day or two, you'll know why. :D

Thanks!

By the way, I missed wishing you RPers of stoners Happy 420 (April 20) Day yesterday. Which I didn't know existed until yesterday.

That song was supposed to be titled 'In the Garden of Eden,' but the guy was so wasted when he did the vocals that it came out "in a gadda da vida.' True story. Well, if you can believe any rock and roll history story. There always seem to be more than one story about how something happened. I guess everybody was too wasted to remember correctly.
