Joker is sure he saw something move in the corner of his eye in the kitchen. When you turn to look, there is nothing there other than a brief glimpse of Roy peeking through the window of the door before turning away again. Just as joker turns back to his sketching, he looks up to see a shadowy silhouette of a vague man-shaped form reaching out to you, the only features you can make out are foggy eyes. Just as it makes a "grab" at your face, it dissipates and you feel cold, the place on you face around your cheekbones and nose where it passed through you feels like pins and needles for a few seconds.

Please give me another moderate cool roll. Failure means you get scared.

Roy Speaking of that, just before you turn around, you do your double-take and realized that car has no pupils. It turns and disappears back around the corner from you.

Mac will head whatever direction he thinks takes him towards the house, thinking it most likely connects to the basement.
Mac is easily able to figure out that the tunnel to his left goes more towards the house in relation to where he is with the stairs to his back. The brick and morter passageway is a bit crumbly but otherwise holding up well. There are a few spiderwebs to deal with in the corners. Mac then turns northward and after a few more paces is standing before a half dry-rotted wooden door. When you try it, the knob seems ready to fall apart, but it opens in to a large spacious room with a few lights filtering in from high basement windows but the space is still very dim.

Joker
[2d6] = 4 ghost [1d6] = 4

We are here to help. Speak to me. Joker's words are much more confident than his voice.

Mac

Mac scans the area in front of him with his flashlight. If he doesn't see anything he needs to deal with right away he follows by checking the scanner on his phone.

Roy sighs and texts Mac about the cat and walks slowly towards where it went with his PKE scan app still going.

Joker cannot keep the fear out of his voice and the instinct to turn and get out of the house is strong; however, for now he finds himself oddly just scared enough not to move from where he is.

Re roll the same this turn and see if you can shake it off.

Roy calls out but there is no answer. He turns to seek out the weird cat, and even has his phone out to take readings. As he rounds the corner he see the very elaborate but as of late unkept garden. Someone put some real work back here at one point but now is it starting to show the neglect with the bushes getting a little ratty and grass and weeds starting to sprout up among the flowers. There is no cat in sight, but on the back patio, you can see another of those clay flowerpots shaped like one. You can see a couple of doors that lead out to the patio which is really nothing special other than about a 15'x15' covered slab of concrete. To your left, you can see that the shed is now open, you remember that Mac was heading that way, but you don't see him. Ahead you can see a nice sitting area in the garden and a couple of small statues and plenty of old trees.

Mac Sees nothing out of the ordinary. As he moves into the open area it is clearly a basement like was mentioned as being under the house. There are support posts down the middle of the room and looking up you can see the underside of a well-braced hardwood floor. There are expansive shelves and cabinets along almost all the walls. As you move forward, you can see there is a fusebox and hot water heater to the left and a modern washer and dryer to your right. It is dusty and a bit humid like these kinds of spaces tend to be. There are cobwebs in the normal places, but not so much to seem "dirty" showing there has been some effort to keep this space clean. The main thing you notice at this point is that it is cold down here. Much more so than it should be.

Mac makes his way up the stairs into the brighter 1st floor of the house. You are still in a rather shady interior area of the house, but comparatively, you can see much better. To your right is an open doorway and you can see the other more northerly doorway to the foyer/family room. The hall wraps around the stairs and continues south, and there is another staircase leading up to the second floor.

Hey Joker you hear footsteps forming from the next room that suddenly stop. They sound like something big and heavy!

Joker
Joker feels that strange itch behind his ear- the one that sometimes happens before there's big trouble. He looks around, seeing nothing to suggest his hunch is wrong. He shrugs and steps out onto the porch- then on out into the yard. He lights one of his foul cigars and takes a long puff, hoping that will calm his nerves.
While he waits for his hunch to dissipate or get worse, he tries his electronics again- maybe there's something that acts as a damping field, and his batteries aren't actually dead.

Batteries are all dead.

As Mac pulls out his phone, he is able to pull up the app one second and only get a flash of a reading before it blinks out too. It is like when you are watching TV and the power goes out.

Roy finds Joker on the front porch looking a little rattled and puffing on one of his cigars.

Roy looks at Joker smoking "So what the heck was all the yelling about? Something wrong? I saw a cat with no pupils back in the carport. You seen Mac?"

Joker can hear Mac holler back that it was him moving up the stair, but just as the puff of smoke exits with his breath, Roy likely makes him jump sky high when he rounds the corner and mentions seeing a pupilless cat.

Mac realizes his batteries are likewise dead and hollers to inform his companions of the same, but then questions if he is alone or not.

The front door slams shut behind Joker!

The sound is loud enough to frighten birds out of nearby trees. Other than that annoying crow anyway.

Roy no change? Roy moved but is he trapped outside now or did he get inside the house? certain this house has a ghost or ghosts wishes he brought a trap and proton pack. "I think we should have brought more gear." if he is trapped outside he will try calling Julia for reinforcements.

Joker
Joker shakes his head, and begins to answer. I haven't seen...
Joker jumps, knocking the coal off the tip of his cigar when the door slams. He mutters something and hurries to the door, attempting to open it again. Mac! We are here! Don't worry!
