The two remaining rat-things, in desperation, attack our stalwart heroes. They choose to attack Alexatros and Girt, rolling two 4s in a row! Bad luck for our rat things, one of which is speared through by Milner at the top of the next round. The remaining rat-thing skips away from Silva's stroke at the last second, and the remaining rat-thing rolls an 8 against Girt, missing.

It's chittering noises might be intended as speech, as with the earlier rat-things but there are no discernable words....just squeaks and hisses.

Girt roars boyishly, his mace making a whirring sound as it completes a rainbow's arc in the flesh of the rat-horror. (AC 15, 3 hp)

Silva and Milner press the attack but fail to connect

The last of the rat-things is dead, its head well splattered by Girt's blow, and its blood and brains splatter the floor and walls.

If it seems prudent, we'd like to investigate the room, but keeping a double lookout at the door. Are there more monsters approaching? Is there any treasure in the room?

The area is 10 x 10, with no obvious way out apart from the curtains.

There is a body on which the rat-things were gnawing; it is garbed in mixture of drab and flamboyant colours, although its clothing is surely ruined both by the rat-things and the fire. A wooden club lies nearby, now somewhat charred, but probably still usable.

"That went well, thanks to fire and Ulesh. Shall we follow along to that next curtain?"

Ooc. Despite descriptions im still really unclear about the layout. Anyone care to post a drawing or something?

The curtains come in pairs, north to south.

There is, therefore, a curtain yet to the south of you. Then ten feet of wall, and a curtain north and south, after which comes another 10 feet of wall, and another pair of curtains.

Lets check south.
Milner rips down fhe curtain. He feels so close to warrior-hood he can almost taste it. If only he can suvive just a little bit longer.

Thanks for the reminder: 1 XP for the easy rat-thing encounter, to all characters that were involved. If your name came up in the encounter, you were involved.

Beyond the curtain to the south is a similar area, only 20 feet deep rather than 10. Giant doesn't like this area. He stands with hackles raised and rumbles a low growl; perhaps he smells the still-lingering odour of the un-dead lovers.

Are there any particular features of these rooms? Any hint of their purpose or use?

The brick walls are blank, worn with age, and warped from the long passage of water through the walls.

"The dead man the beasts were eating wears the same colors as the men we met by the entrance," Toothy Herman observes, standing over the charred corpse.

"There are more devil's about. Giant, what's wrong, girl?" Girt says.

Avery says, "There are bone-men just ahead, in a room to the left. Let us prepare to deal with these."

(About how long has it been in in-game time since just before Avery turned the lovers? His self-blessing lasts ten minutes.)

It seems like theres some undead and rat things blocking our escape to the north. Why dont we prepare to meet them instead?

You may still have a minute or two left.

Herman toes the burned corpse with his booted foot, listening for the jangle of coin.

Avery asks Milner for the holy water he carries, and with/without it, moves down the hallway with Girt and Giant in tow, the doorway to the left, where he knows the restless bone-men lurk. He asks Ulesh to bless both Giant and Girt (Spellchecks 13 (Giant) and 19 (Girt)), both men clutching their holy symbols. Giant races into the room to fight, and the holy men rush after, unprepared for the effects of their god's blessing on the trusty canine.

Milner gives over the holy water and follows behind.
Silva covers with his bow.

The corpse does not arise; nor does Herman hear any jangle.

Are there any other exits from this room? Is it no longer occupied by restless dead?
