Dax: Chaos and Beat-downs (HP: 7) (AC: 17)
Action/Status: Springing to action!

Poised like a tense spring, Dax is a blur of motion as the creature leaps free of the tree line, its meanace unmistakable. She yanks her well-worn laser pistol from it's holster at the small of her back and snaps off a shot as the creature flies through the air, trying to save it's L'Hoi target... PEW!

Maximum initiative. Move action to draw her readied weapon. Main Action to fire a shot.
Initiative [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9
Laser Pistol [1d20+4] = 3+4 = 7 Damage [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5
...Alas.

Silas A. Corvus: Expert Technician (HP: 5) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: So Much for Composure!

Silas sweeps the laser pistol from his side in one swift motion, aims (as best he can), and fires at the nasty drooling Lizard-Thing, hoping to get it before it makes it's way through the L'Hoi to him.

[1d8] = 8
[1d20-1] = 2-1 = 1

Uh Oh!!!

Wei Xuan: Celestial Loss Prevention (HP: 2) (AC: 13 +2)
Action/Status: Defensive Stance

Wei planted his feet and exhaled loudly. He drew upon that aspect of himself that was pure yin, the shadow within... to no avail. The Biter lived true to its nature. It was utterly beyond the rituals and laws of society and thus, beyond his purview to judge. All the same, he wondered whether generations of selective breeding by the L'Hoi had exaggerated the Biters' aggressive tendencies. L'Hoi create monsters and monster destroys L'Hoi. Nature's brutal balance.

Quickly, he assumed a looser, defensive stance. He was unarmed; if it wished to eat him, he was certainly let it take the initiative to close the distance before he tried punching out a dinosaur.

[1d8] = 2

We're all going to die.

The lizard continues to try and disembowel the unfortunate L'hoi warrior.
As a group the Persephone crew lets loose with a hurried volley of laser fire.
Hopping back from its victim the lizard cocks its head at the group and lets rip with a hissing roar.
As if answering the lizard, one of the L'hoi gives out a screeching howl.
You look on in horror as you realize the L'hoi shaman is lying on the ground feebly reaching for a smoking hole in its body.

Wei Xuan: Celestial Loss Prevention (HP: 2) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Rallying the L'Hoi
Initiative: 2

The L'Hoi shaman was wounded by the crew's hand. Wei didn't think any members of the team intentionally slew it. These kinds of accidents were inevitable in a crowded firefight. Unfortunately, the L'Hoi only had very rough concepts of forgiveness and acceptance. The prospect of a warm welcome at the L'Hoi village seemed distant at best. And if the shaman died of its wounds...

The important thing was surviving this battle, something they might not be able to do without the other L'Hoi warriors' aid.

He cleared his thoughts and found the words to rally the remaining L'Hoi. "Biter slays warriorkin! Spears and hearts cry for blood-trade!" [That lizard killed our warrior! Avenge him!]

Lead skill check (CHA +1, Untrained -1): [2d6] = 11

Silas A. Corvus: Expert Technician (HP: 5) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Uh...Shit!

Silas, stunned beyond words, other than grunting "Shit!" lifts his pistol to fire, drops it, lifts it again a little more sure, drops it once again...He pauses for a few seconds to gain some composure and poise, takes careful aim with both hands, and fires.

[1d8] = 8
[1d20-1] = 17-1 = 16

The lizard rears up and prepares to finish the L'hoi warrior.
Two laser blasts hit it. One takes it squarely in the chest, the second hits it in the neck.
With a screeching squeal the lizard falls back into the dense jungle bush and disappears from sight.
Apart from the continuous buzz of the ever present insects and the groans of the L'hoi shaman, things seem to have quietened down.
There doesn't seem to be any movement in and around the bushes into which the lizard fell.

Having frozen for the blessedly brief encounter with the lizard, Tatiana runs towards the fallen shaman as swiftly as the scaly menace disappears into the jungle. She reaches for her belt and produces a lazarus patch, applying it to the blaster wound with as much expertise as her limited Academy first-aid training can muster. The thought of offending the onlooking aliens does not cross her mind in light of potentially saving a life, the psion's attention utterly focused on the dying L'hoi before her; hopefully not too great a mistake.

Dax: Chaos and Beat-downs (HP: 7) (AC: 17)
Action/Status: Covering the Medics

Dax rotates, keeping her gun trained on the jungle where the lizards emerged and fled. She holds her aim, ready for whatever twitches, making sure Tatiana and Nicolai face no threat (from lizards, at least) as they rush to heal the L'Hoi.

. Move action: Hold an Action.
Main action: Make Ranged Attack.

Initiative: 9
Laser Pistol [1d20+4] = 20+4 = 24 damage [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2 (held)

Silas A. Corvus: Expert Technician (HP: 5) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Rigid & Tense, Assisting Dax

With stern visage and tightened muscles Silas trains his gun on the jungle and scans with eyes and ears for any resurgence of the enemy. He glances once or twice at the fallen L'Hoi, his face contorting further and further into a pained grimace at having been the delivery agent of the L'Hoi's pain and suffering. "I would assist you Tatiana, but I'm afraid these hands know only mechanical/electrical things. I would be of no use. I'm sorry, he says with as much empathy as he can muster in his voice.

Wei Xuan: Celestial Loss Prevention (HP: 2) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Checking in with Lloyd

The violence was over, at least for the moment. With two members of the crew on the lookout and Tatiana attending to the wounded L'Hoi, Wei took the opportunity to update Lloyd on the mission so far. Bringing the wrist communicator to his mouth, he said,

"Mr. Moss, come in. This is Wei. We were attacked by local fauna on the way to the L'Hoi village. The L'Hoi shaman was hit by one of our guns during the skirmish. It looks like he might pull through, but it's difficult to say whether the locals will continue to trust us now. We don't need any backup just yet, but I'll keep you updated on the situation. How are things aboard the Persephone? Over."

Action: Making a stirfry

Its a good thing Lloyd didn't hear Wei using an honorific, or else he would have corrected him right away. In fact, Lloyd didnt hear most of the message; the jazz music and sound of the cooking food made quite the relaxing atmosphere. Sure, rations and canned food didnt make for the most delicious meal, but it was hot food and Lloyd was used to it. It was a small price to pay when the prize was flying through space. By the time he heard the radio on the opposite counter he only caught the end of Wei check-in.

"..need any backup just yet, but I'll keep you updated on the situation. How are things aboard the Persephone? Over."
Picking up the radio he decided they needed code names.

"uh... Prosecution, this is the fair lady, I do not copy your last message, do you need backup? Things are locked and loaded here, I can be on your position shortly."
Wei repeated himself and Lloyd relaxed, leaning over to check out the window.

"All quiet here, thanks for the update. Glad to hear no one was hurt. I am standing by for extraction. Fair lady out."

Wei Xuan: Celestial Loss Prevention (HP: 2) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Finishing dialogue (on turn action)

"Thank you, Lloyd. Enjoy the--is that Letitia Vibe and the Brass? Wei over and out."

Wei's gaze followed the direction where Dax and Silas were pointing their weapons. Was the beast still out there?

The remaining L'hoi warriors rush to their shaman's side and kneel quietly.
Surprising they allow Tatiana to continue treating the stricken shaman as he raised his clawed hand at their approach.
A strange mewing noise comes from the jungle in the general area where the lizard disappeared.

Dax: Chaos and Beat-downs (HP: 7) (AC: 17)
Action/Status: Covering the Medics

Dax continues to hold, her aim dead-on the mewling noise and taking no chances. When the L'Hoi don't confront Tatiana (and assumed Nicolai?) she lets out her breath, though, unaware she was holding it.

Keep holding the shot.

I'll draw my weapon and be ready to attack.

Wei Xuan: Celestial Loss Prevention (HP: 2) (AC: 13)
Action/Status: Bedside manner

Wei moves closer to the injured shaman and squats so that he is within the L'Hoi's field of vision, but far enough away so that he does not interfere with Nikolai's important work.

He croons, "This tribe's healers bring night-medicine... makes its heart latephase-still. How is it known among its tribe?" [We have medicine from space that will put you at ease. What is your name?]
