Game Mechanics Chat

#1 Post by DMStue »

Hi there,

I want my character to step up and check for traps.

In my games, the DM rolls for this type of roll where the character doesn't know if they were uccessful.

Is this how it works on here?

Potentially it would cover Hide in Shadows, Move Silently, Spot Traps and probably a few others that I haven't thought of.

Cheers.

I will leave the decision up to you at the moment. If you would like to roll and post to the board, go right ahead. I will expect you to RP to the roll though. If I think you are meta-gaming on the roll, then I will roll them.

If you want me to roll for you, I certainly can. In that case, the roll will not be posted (of course). Just let me know your preference.

I have rolled this time for quickness, but I prefer you to roll on my behalf as I am unable to write past the point of the actual roll anyway as I whether I am successful or not is only half the equation.

Whether I succeed or fail, you still have to tell me whether I find/trip a trap, alert the guard etc.
