Tarsus para bellum
Re: Tarsus para bellum
It's the "vista point" from which the accompanying image of the valley is viewed.
And well done you (also) passed the test!
While you all ponder strategy I'm if not pausing just not accelerating away for the moment.

Kit
Kit summarizes the group position and gives some additional instructions. "We have the main force including but not limited to the Grey's re-hidden ready to spring the trap on the main enemy force as they come up the gut. The snipers should be at the top of the hill to slow the advance of the enemy HQ unit that is trying to flank the main force. The Newland Light Infantry Platoon need to increase their speed and come over the top of the hill to support the snipers. We have the APC big guns in reserve ready to roll over the top of the hill and fire down on which ever side needs the support. If there are any additional resources including but not limited to air support that would be great to know about now.
Both forces should proactively target drivers and commanders to push the group the break."

Re: Tarsus para bellum
"What's a rabbit... oh... never mind. T'Lia just explained it... we will deploy to support the snipers."
Prerna moves her team to where the snipers are setting up, and splits them into sniper/spotter pairs. "Stay with our ride," she tells T'Lia.

"It sounds like you have everything in hand. We'll keep the reserves here in standby, ready for fast deployment if they are required."
I was thinking that it might be useful to have the gunship ready to deploy immediately if needed. How long is it going to take a grav vehicle to reach the targets from here?

Re: Tarsus para bellum
If you want it on immediate call you can have it loiter nearby.
Otherwise about 10 minutes flight time.

Freya uses the electronic inputs to keep an eye on the main axis of attack, but asks her team to make a sweep of the other directions just in case this is only a diversion. When the enemy are this obliging, she's always nervous.
She also checks on what the main line of retreat/rout will be for stragglers from the ambush - and checks her own route away.
Hey Freddie - Where is our rally point and what do you make out as our best route to get us there?

Dougal responds tensely "Mum, no SigInt, no ELINT, no jamming save constant chanting over certain set frequencies. Plot is good as per the Battle Computer feed. Your signal strength R5". He then adds anxiously "Please be careful - Tech troop shouldn't be near the front let alone being it!"BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 6:35 pm Freya uses the electronic inputs to keep an eye on the main axis of attack, but asks her team to make a sweep of the other directions just in case this is only a diversion. Freddie slides in "It's Ma'am like jam. Don't bother trying to pronounce the middle bit unless you plan on being an officer. I'm here she'll be fine".
Freddie looks across at Freya "Ma'am, you're clever so you're looking for tactics but there aren't any if you're fighting fanatics. Cults are a dangerous thing - I've seen this before but not when they've been given armour. If the line is suppressed and then overrun by their infantry we'll call in the drones and use them to fall back. When we get to that you just get yourself away and take the smelly young rip" he smiles "I'll maybe just cruise for some action - you know my reputation".

Kit
When moving up they have near burnt out their air / raft's grav modules in dumping a whole new supply of mortar rounds about halfway between Spion Kop and the Kruger ranch.
NB Kit also has the merc 80mm mortar section (who can very usefully kill infantry only) within the fold of the false peak. They are "self spotting" and can fire as directed.gurusql wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 11:26 pm Kit summarizes the group position and gives some additional instructions. Prerna and KIt
"Oy, oy!" Corporal Baker drives up in a (hotwired) pallet shifter and deposits the carried crate of LAW into the G Carrier's loadbay. "Loadsa tanks 'parentely so I just 'ad a funny notion we'd need a shhii... shed... shedton of these, Ma'am!"
The G Carrier boosts the Scout/Recon team forward in good time to distribute additional LAW to the SEMC forward positions and deposit both half teams in excellent hides selected by the in situ Greys troopers they are reinforcing.
[OOC: So on the published map the Greys SF positions now each include two SEMC sniper/spotter teams. One is commanded by Prerna the other by Baker].
Please choose either east or west spurs for Prerna's fighting position.
Map Ref: https://www.unseenservant.us/forum/view ... 76#p702876
The retiring G Carrier drops T'lia with Kit and she immediately sends it back to the Kruger ranch to fetch more LAW, smalls arms ammo and the spare mortar.
She presents herself to Kit informally and says "Captain Ghosal my congratulations on a well chosen position. I am joining your defence. I am rated as a Master Sniper and my anti-material rifle is effective against light vehicles and personnel. Where should I take post?"
T'lia softly demures "Yes Ma'am" although Prerna notes that by the time her team are boarding their G Carrier her wife is equipped with the twin of her own gauss anti-materiel rifle and a cut down ACR and is wearing what might be shabby looking but very serviceable combat armour.

Prerna sends T'Lia a mental caress - along with a highly NSFW mental image of them - and makes her way to the right side of the defensive emplacements. She sets up with her heavy gauss rifle, and settles in to await the enemy's arrival.Tiglath wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:03 am Prerna and KIt

"Excellent to have you, T'lia. Set up on the western side of that hill. It will give you partial cover from the central group and full cover from the eastern group. It will all you move the other side of the hill if needed to help the other group."

Never under-estimate the cleverness of fanatics. Or more worryingly, the cynical "leaders" who throw them forward from a safe spot at the back.Tiglath wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 12:28 amDougal responds tensely "Mum, no SigInt, no ELINT, no jamming save constant chanting over certain set frequencies. OK - So being this close to the front is dangerous - let's keep our heads down and prepare to deploy drones to track whoever starts radioing "Encouragement" to these nutters.
and to the team operating remotely
Anyone see elements that will provide supporting fire as the horde press forward? I wouldn't be surprised if they have someone at the rear with automatic weapons to discourage an early retreat!

Voss reports "Sir, Deliverance reports that they have passive sensor detection of three small craft launches from the Rond facility seemingly in response to either our reinforcement or resupply of the Spion Kop position. Two fast movers and likely a Corporate cutter vectoring towards close orbit and our battlespace. Deliverance is still posted deep outsystem and can not effectively intervene without compromising themselves".
"They have updated their sensor appreciation of the SuSAG assets in system. They are tracking three Corporate Patrol Cruisers cruising a standard pattern. Not the most imaginative deployment but we'll take it. They also report numerous small craft - mostly shuttles moving between the various Corporate locations we have identified".
"There are also two "transient anomalies". Transient One is a densitometer return on an object displacing in the region of two to four thousand tons moving in system. It's proving difficult to track but the skillful manoeuvre seems to confirm that it's a ship running on minimal power. Maybe it's the Aslan but I didn't think they did "subtle"? The other Transient Two is no more than a sensor operator's hunch but clearly the Deliverance crew give it credence. Something about a Patrol Cruiser's tonnage with milspec plus masking. Unhelpfully there's no direct evidence of whatever this may or may not be, sir".
EDIT: To add the last two chunks which I was convinced I had posted but were clearly "nibbled" by the gremlins of the ether... or rabbits...
