Gurkan leaps the creek and charges the last Ghoul, which has already paralyzed one of his companions. His attack is ferocious and he misses taking off the Ghoul's head by a fraction of an inch! The Ghoul snarls and attacks Gurkan with tooth and claw! Its filthy black talons rake Gurkan down the face and chest, opening bloody furrows on his tanned skin.

Tuga will check that all the downed ghouls are in fact dead, again, while he heads in the direction of the last fight.

Gurkan shrugs off the paralytic effects of the Ghoul's claws and cuts its head clean off with a vicious swing of his sword!
As it falls, Tuga checks to make sure there are no others waiting to leap upon them.
Roan  Elwood is no longer bleeding very much, thanks to Khawla's healing, but he is still unable to move...for now.

Khawla

She will do a quick search to make sure there are no more ghouls in the room.

Elwood stands like a statue wondering who is it that he heard this weird voice in his head call Roan is, he sounds like an interesting fellow.

Khawla and Gurkan inspect the area, hoping not to find any more of the foul undead. Thankfully, they do not, nor do they find answers as to why so many where in this chamber of solace and peace. What could it have been when it was first carved out of the rock? A place of worship? A place of meditation?
Inspecting the "thrones" on the opposite side of the creek, they find claw marks where the ghouls have gouged the crumbling stairs and stone chairs. There are more recent signs of activity near the pool at the end of the chamber. Fresh tracks seem to be leading down into and coming up out of the pool. Squinting and peering into the water, Khawla and Gurkan can just make out...something...near the bottom of the pool. The glow from the green lichen along the walls seems to reflect off of whatever is down there. You're not sure how deep the pool is, but since you can see the bottom, it may not be too deep. ;)

Elwood gasps as he begins to feel tingling in his muscles, signs the paralytic effect of the ghouls is wearing off. Allean helps him stand to keep from falling as his legs suddenly give away.
Meanwhile, Tuga searches the ghouls for anything of value, and while he doesn't find anything on their gray emaciated bodies, he does make a gruesome discovery: inside the stalagmite in the center of the chamber, there is a tattered white robe. The robe is filthy and torn, covered in gore and mud. The robe is not unlike those worn by the young acolytes at the Library.

Khawla

Khawla searches the perimeter, looking for any exits, obvious or hidden.

"I wonder where they came from."

"Quite a mess, yes. There must be quite a history of subterranean tunneling in this little hamlet."

Tuga packs the robes for later investigation.

Gurkan is able to touch the top of...whatever it is...with his sword and can feel it move a bit. So, he reaches in and grabs hold of the slimy object lifting it from the water. (The pool of water is a bit over 3' deep which makes it easy for Gurkan to wade in and grab it.)

While Gurkan fishes, Khawla checks this strange chamber out a bit more closely, looking for any obvious or hidden ways to enter or leave this place. She really finds not much of anything, but then does notice a strange symbol carved into the base of the throne on the right side of the back wall. It is oddly shaped and somewhat worn from who knows how long, but she is able to make it out, especially with a bit of light.

Khawla recognizes the symbol almost immediately: it is the head of a jackyl...Anubis, the Osirian god of the underworld and guardian of the dead!

While Tuga stuffs the filthy robe in his pack, Allean and Elwood wanders over to Gurkan to see what the ranger has found, just as Gurkan wipes the slime and gunk off the object. Turned green by the water, it appears to be a bronze statue. Once the slime and mud is cleared away, the statue is quite breathtaking to behold:

Khawla

"It is an idol of Anubis. I found his marking here on the throne as well. I agree with Elwood, do not desecrate that. We can decide a best course of action later."

I am not familiar with Anubis in this setting and how he is portrayed. Some D&D makes him evil but in Egyptian mythology he was certainly not, he was the protector of the dead and the god who taught man the magical art of embalming. Would Khawla know how he is regarded in this setting?
