2) shouldnt their weapon speed slow them down beyond the 2, as it is (begging)
It's on me, all right. Fitting, I guess, for the game to draw near (or reach) its conclusion on a Friday the 13th.

As for any adjustments to their initiative roll, their weapon speed is a 4, which is pretty quick, or their "natural" speed is a 3, as a medium-sized creature (which is the same adjustment Ewell, as a human, would have).

Sorry, man.

The bad news is, the thing is going to beat you into the passage.
The good news is, the creature now blocking your exit is already wounded (you guess to be about half strength).

---

Ewell will attempt to back into the corridor but his progress is cut off by a troglodyte sneaking past along the north side of the passageway.

Very well, part 2.

longsword to hit (+3 str , +1class bonus): [1d20+4] = 11+4 = 15 , damage1d8 (+4 str bonus): [1d8+4 ] = 4+4 = 8

Ewell is pissed that his mensa qualifying escape plan had a glitch, and takes it out on the trog...

ok. i did my part. your turn...

Round 12

#323 Post by dmw71 »

Angered at being beaten into the passage, Ewell takes out some of his frustration on the quick moving obstacle before him -- and drops it! He feels a sting in his back (-4) as a javelin from a creature behind him sinks in through his armor but, as far as he can tell, his escape is clear... if he can navigate his way in the darkness, or make his escape easier by risking lighting the lamp tied to his belt. The knight backs his way to the bend in the passage he fought so desperately to clear.

Round 13

#325 Post by dmw71 »

Ewell quickly turns and runs; fumbling at his belt to bring his lantern to hand and then to light it. The trailing creature gets an immediate attack against the fleeing cavalier and lands a nearly critical blow (-5). The strong, determined young knight surprises the beasts with how fast he can move in his metal shell, but they're able to easily keep pace.

Ewell does manage to get his lantern lit, but as he approaches the first side passage to the west along his exit route, the trailing creature lands a second, almost critical blow (-4) which would have dropped most mortal men... but not Ewell! Attacking is no longer an option, and under normal circumstances the young knight would be required to immediately rest and bind wounds, his adrenaline allows him to lumber towards the exit.

Round 14

#328 Post by dmw71 »

Displaying a nearly unrivaled sense of will and determination, the cavalier fights off all the scrapes, scratches, holes and other forms of damage inflicted upon him and struggles for the exit. Continuing to move as fast as he can, Ewell reaches the wavy section at the front entrance to the lair. Sweat beading down his forehead, he's not positive whether it's his mind playing tricks on him or if he is actually seeing hints of natural light emanating from just ahead. "A few more steps," he thinks to himself... but they are steps not meant to be taken as the trailing troglodyte strikes again with eerily consistent accuracy (-5).

Wait, there was a goblins' cave? We could have been fighting goblins instead of these stinky things?

Indeed. The goblin cave was an actual, planned encounter of mine. The trogs... well, again, while I did introduce a raiding party or two to pester O'Hare, they were not meant to be part of the immediate picture, it just kind of worked out that way.
