The Ruins of Fastomel

#1 Post by Eris »

The ruins are ancient. There was a city there in a distant age called Eastormel, but now only the ruins of a few buildings remain inside the broken walls. It has been looted over the years so not much is left. Even the name people commonly call it has changed from Eastormel, which meant something in that long ago time, to Fastomel which really means nothing at all.

If you enter from the south, you will pass through what was once a gate in the walls, but is now just stumps of stone standing on either side of rubble. Rubble overgrown with shrubs and vines is mostly what you'll find inside. However, a few buildings still remain. There are four that might interest you, all are near the center of the ruins. As you go down what was once the main street is a building on the left that once housed a Library, across from it on your right is the remains of a large Temple, straight ahead are the remains of the Keep and behind the Keep is the stump of what was once a Wizard's Tower.

The Priest's Mission:
We are most interested in the Temple. It has been searched, but a scroll came into our hands that indicates there maybe an entrance to an area that his remained hidden all these years. In the cemetery on the Temple grounds is a Mausoleum with the symbol of the rising sun and the phrase, "Sun above! Knowledge below!" carved on it. The scroll we have indicates that this mausoleum hides an entrance to an underground area where treasures were stored. We think artifacts, scrolls and books rather than gold are the treasures hidden there.

We are most interested in knowing whether this is true or just a tale. If you find this mausoleum and there is an entrance to such treasures we will reward you well. The scroll does say that this treasure trove is guarded well, so just knowing it is really there is enough for now.

Just looking for this hidden trove is worth 50 gold and actually discovering an entrance to a trove under the old Temple would be worth another 100 gold! Additionally, we would provide training in what arts we know for those interested in learning.

We will supply you with rations for your journey and some equipment as you might think you need.

Avandar's Mission:
Using the map provided by Avandar go into the Wizard's Tower at Fastomel and find the scroll case with Woven Dreams inscribed on it and then return it to Avandar. [500 gp and teach Francisco 1 spell]
