Dutch
Dutch is foggy- worse than the time he tried Uncle Amos' moonshine. He squints and shudders at the walking dead. Why'd he use a Marine...
He raises his voice. Don't shoot 'im! Enemy of my enemy...

Acme

His mind goes back to the briefing and the mention of the natives. "Hold fire! We need to try to talk with them. Uh, but keep clear of those things."

Acme calls out "Anyone have eyes on the talent?"

Approximately 09:50 AM, May 5th, 1943; Bloody Bay, Platok Island, Solomon Islands Chain, South West Pacific

Coastguardsman Elias Tucker took a deep breath, let it go, felt his Focus power narrow down his vision to the older Native Talent in the tree-line some 200 yards away, clearly directing the Zombies towards anyone still living. He was aware his team-mates were yelling something, but he didn't register what it was as he pulled the trigger and sent a heavy .30-06 round flying down range. His shot was excellent....it was difficult to shoot someone SPECIFICALLY in the lower leg from 200 yards and thru a bunch of tall grass, brush and trees....but he did it. Through his Scope he saw the older Native drop to the ground with a cry of pain and reaching for his now bloody calf and the feel/smell/sound of the strange Talent Power abruptly stopped. The native crawled/shuffled out of sight behind a thick patch of trees and it was then that he realized what his companions had been trying to say to him.....in essence, it was 'Don't Shoot'.....

Marvin Acme called too late for Tucker to not fire, but even as he did, he tracked where he fired, though he didn't pick up where the Talent was....which made sense as Elias both was looking through a scope AND his Talent Power helped in that regard. Abruptly, the strange Talent sensation stopped and the three shambling 'zombies' fell to the ground....just regular old, non-moving corpses again....

Gurung stepped out, dropped his rifle and drew on his Talent Powers to 'armor up' AND create a purple, glowing Khukri blade and moved to place himself between the 'undead' and his teammates...but a moment later, the crack of Tucker's Springfield hit his ears and then the strange Talent Power stopped and the shambling zombies fell back to the ground. The terrified IJA soldiers fled out of sight, but some soft sounds caught his ear, coming from the tree line about 150 yards away. Moving in that direction, he thought he saw movement in a thick clump of brush and trees....

Van Horn called out for Tucker to not fire, but the crack of the Rifle came even as he was calling out. Wincing still in pain and fog from the meds, he had a delayed reaction of realizing the strange Talent Power was gone....but Gurung's familiar powers were now assaulting his nose/ears/sense of taste....

After the adrenaline fueled battle and 'wolfing out', Roker had kind of collapsed into a 'pile' on the ground and hadn't moved much. He watched the 'zombies' and terrified IJA troops almost in a detached, 'at the picture show' kinda way.....even having lived and fought as a Talent these past two years, sometimes it was still unbelievable.....Shaking his head, he snapped back to the here and now and realized the Zombies had collapsed, the strange Talent Power had stopped, Tucker had shot at something...presumably the Talent that was controlling the 'not-so-dead' bodies a moment ago and now Gurung was all armored and bladed up and moving towards the tree line.....

***OOC: Okay, Gurung only spent 2 Will Power Points, which is all he needs to ensure the Blade activates...with a Will of 4D+1, he can't roll lower than a 5, so his Armor power will always Activate now.

"200 yards, 10 yards inside the tree line just left of the 3 crossed trees. He needs a bandage."

In the way of a mid-westerner, points the direction with his hand and checks his clip and heads towards the location.

Gurung

Gurung will behead and de-limb the corpses so they can't be used against them again. Then he starts towards the tree line.

Acme

He nods in appreciation of the shot. "Nice one. I suspect you may want to keep that weapon next mission."

Acme motions to the others. "Let's go check it out. Grab Roker, we'll carry him with us." He moves to gather Roker.

Roker shakes his head—the effect is not unlike a dog shaking the water from his fur. "No, no...I'm okay," he says as Acme moves towards him. "No need to carry me. Let's go."

Approximately 09:55 AM, May 5th, 1943; Bloody Bay, Platok Island, Solomon Islands Chain, South West Pacific

The battered survivors of Special Services Team Four gathered themselves and gathered together before moving towards where the Native Talent that had created/commanded 'zombies' had fallen after being wounded by a shot from Elias Tucker's rifle.....

Gurung hacked up the 'zombie' bodies so that they (presumably) couldn't be utilized again, and then everyone reloaded their arms and moved towards where Tucker directed them. The could see movement, from multiple figures up ahead and everyone prepared themselves for yet more combat on this accursed isle....

Coming out into a small clearing, they saw a trio of Natives, armed with spears, move towards the wounded 'Zombie Master' Native and one of them reached down and helped him to his feet and started to move him away towards some thick vegetation. They also saw a U.S. Marine on the ground, desperately trying to find a weapon as an IJA solider came charging his way with a bayonet-equipped Arisaka Rifle and letting loose a blood-thirsty scream.....

The arrival of the Natives threw the IJA solider for a loop and one of the Natives took advantage of the surprise to touch a nearby tree and with some words in a strange tongue, suddenly branches MOVED and roped themselves all around the Japanese trooper and slowly, but surely crushed the life out of him......

The last Native moved to plant his spear into the Marine on the ground when all of the Talents suddenly felt a new Talent Power emerge and the Marine with wide, life-fearing eyes, suddenly let loose a torrent of words.....in the Native's language and the man stopped his attack in surprise. He spoke a few words in return and soon, he just let out a grunt and then with a wave of his hand that took in all of the Marines, he gestured towards the ocean shore and pointed fiercely.....

The old 'zombie controller' attempted to 'raise' the IJA solider in the tree vines to 'unlife', but the effort was too much and he collapsed into unconsciousness and the Native holding him grunted a bit and dragged him out of sight into the tree-line. The remaining Natives looked warily at the members of SST 4, made the same gesture towards the ocean shore line again and then followed their companions into the thick foliage....

Coming to his feet and staggering a bit as the adrenaline of using his Talent Power for the first time came crashing down, the Marine whose name-tag read off "PFC Perkins", came over and said....."Wow.....wow.....I'm a Talent......I can.....talk to anyone in their language.....those guys, they said, we need to all leave this island.....us, the Nips......just, get back in our 'canoes' and go to sea and leave them or they'll come after us with the power of the spirits. I'm pretty sure he means they were all Talents.....like....me now.....wait, does that mean I have to join an SST now?", he concluded with a bit of a daze and questioning look in his eyes....

Elias searches the remains of the fight for anyone surviving or a medic pack or anything useful in our battered condition.

Dutch
Dutch still looks a little pinched and pale from his wound. Welcome aboard, Marine. With a Talent like yours, you'll probably get seconded to the Rear to work with POW's.
He looks around at the rest of the squad. Get in our canoes and go, huh? Sounds like a damn fine idea to me.

Acme

"If they are all talents, then the cost of holding this place may not be worth it. We've done what we came for. Let's pack up."

He smiles at Perkins. "Welcome to the club. We live in a damn comic book."

Approximately 10:00AM, May 5th thru 4:00 PM May 7th, 1943; Bloody Bay, Platok Island, Solomon Islands Chain, South West Pacific

The members of SST 4 were soon being seen to by Corpsman and giving reports to the 'brass' as the follow on wave of Marines hit the beach and secured the area....'cleaning up' Japanese holdouts here and there and Acme and co. made sure to tell them of the local 'Talents' and Perkins, with his new Power, was being used to convey a temporary truce between the U.S. forces and the locals as they just wanted to get rid of the IJA on the island.....

Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn's wounds were severe enough to require evacuation back to 'the 'Canal' (Guadalcanal) where a major hospital had been set up and while he talked about 'being back before you guys know it'; the old vets could see in his face and eyes, that he was almost certainly done with this war. He had certainly done his part and THEN some......they all had....

After two days of clearing out the forces of Imperial Japan, the U.S. Marines kept their word and they left Platok Island, never to return and the members of SST 4 got a long, LONG reprieve from the war.......
