Re: Rumors, Nets, and Hooks
Thanks!
When we had an influx of new characters Jernau helpfully reposted some rumors and mission ideas in BS. This is an extension of that.
I envision this as a community bulletin board. Everyone can post rumors in the thread, or wanted ads, or what have you. I'll update the initial posts to keep everything visible.

Rumors and Hooks
Find out more about this little grey man that was playing music for the children.
- He appeared a few times. The last time was when the party was returning from the ooze pits.
- Dwarves have set up shop in a mine on the island. Not really a low-level mission, unless you are planning to hack through the jungle to get around their guards. Which is probably as bad as confronting their guards
- They have issued an ultimatum, declaring the Logging Trail and path to the Beach under their control.
- The black stone structures around the village. Where are they coming from?
- The Dwarves seem to be very interested in these rocks.
- The Dwarves have been stacking and building a foundation just inside the treeline
- Monocar ordered a large saw blade, which has arrived in a crate.
- The pits were found and were full of ooze creatures
- What else can be found out there?
- Rumors abound of an Obelisk or Obelisks in the jungle.
- Raythan, Gorman, and Krystal have all mentioned them.
- The clearance work was halted when the monkoons were found to be intelligent. Hunting isn't easy, but you can find leads to other adventures while you are out there, the xp arrives quickly and there's an xp bonus for opening new hexes. Improving stuff around town is more of a role-playing thing.
- Probably not for low-level if it's true. We never saw anything over there. But that whole side that we explored was deserted. No animals, birds, just silence. The beachfront area was lined with skulls on poles. Probably from the now-deceased Sea Hag.
- Constable Glansandi was acting strangely. Eventually confronted, it appears he was under the control of an ooze that can possess people. It leaked out of the constable and hasn't been seen since.
- It appears that there are more clans than first thought, and their behavior and tactics differ.
- It may be the home of a large tentacled beast. Tread carefully on the beach.
- There are more smaller islands left unexplored.
- Large lizards gather west of the Spider maze and travel to the beach at times.
- It appears the dwarves have been using the lizards as pack animals.
- Bing's crew spent time and effort to cut and drag these special trees to the beach. There they sit.
- A ramshackle tower built from bilge stones stands precariously at the water's edge. There may be money in reinforcing it.
- The temple sits, now rid of Gorman. But what has been left behind?
- A few adventurers speak of a great library somewhere on the island. Great power awaits the mage who first finds it.
- A wizard once (still?) ruled these islands. He created the obelisks, presumably as part of his "ultimate creation".
- The wizard had also conducted other potentially very dangerous experiments. Tread carefully!
- Carnivorous Trees!
- Numbered cats!
- Unlimited minotaurs!
- Extensive Cave system, the list goes on and on
- Kobolds are appearing more frequently all over, including some who seem seafaring.
- Many were killed, but the danger still remains. What are they, and are they intelligent?
- To the west of the logging trail, below the gorge, there are large beetles that have...irritable bowels.
- Ex-Mayor Nehru's old notes are missing. Is there a thief in town?
- On the path between the temple and the native fields, stands a tree with an ax in it.

NOTICES POSTED ON TREEHOUSE MESSAGE BOARD
***************************
***************************
- Three sketches of faces, two looking human and one obviously halfling, each sketch contains an inscription:
- "Judsun. A gud man".
- "Ewad. We ardly new yer".
- "Storrm. Sory mate".
- The papers are wind-torn and weathered, but they give you the warm feeling that at least someone cared about friends they lost here at one time.

Re: Rumors, Nets, and Hooks
Symbol on temple catacombs wall:
When the red activation sphere was inserted into the wall sconce below the symbol, the red dot next to the bottom square lit up. After the obelisk was entered and the red mega-gem was obtained, the circle around that same red dot also lit up.
The same process has now been started with the grey sphere, and the grey dot, to the left of the bottom square. Except that once the grey activation sphere was inserted into the left sconce, not only did the grey dot light up, but so did the bottom square.
So presumably, the squares on the circular symbol above indicate where the obelisks can be activated, while the dots must represent where the obelisks themselves are located.
I think at least one of you has picked up on this so far, so we will consider it common knowledge.
