Background:
Major Ankit "Kit" Ghoshal was born on Glisten (the subsector capital of Glisten, the system itself consists of a number of separate planetoid cities, most of which specialize in a particular industry or social role). His grew up in Glisten Belt with his mother (Sona), father (Nirvana) and two younger siblings (Baka [sister, 3 years junior] and Chetan "Tan" [brother, 6 years junior]. His home was the computer processing dome and both his mother and father worked there. To the locals, each of the domes seems like a rural small town with everyone knowing they need to join the domes job pool or "escape the dome". When Kit was 16 his father was killed in an airlock accident. While no charges were ever filed, Kit has always maintained that a local gang (working for the terrorist organization, Ine Givar) was trying to get computer equipment to be smuggled out by Kit's father and when he refused he was murdered.
After his father's death, Kit wanted to get as far away from Glisten as he could so he joined the Marines. As luck would have it he spend the next four years in the Glisten system the first and third years with training at the Glisten Marine base, but the second year of the term he was part of the internal security for the House Muktheswara (the Subsector Duke). Seeing how the nobles live was eye opening for Kit. While his family was not exactly poor, they always struggled to get by, this year in the House Muktheswara showed him that not everyone lived that way. In the fourth year of his term he was selected for Officer's Candidate School and was promoted to 2nd Lt. Kit didn't understand it till years later, but the Marines pulled from his life experiences and turned those into real world skills (Zero-G Combat, Computer) and taught him how to shot and how to lead other Marines during his first term, helping him to develop him from a boy to man. Seeing the Marines take interest in him with command pushed him to re-enlist for another term.
During his second term he was finally able to leave the Glisten system for the first time, serving as part of the Ship's Troops on the cruiser, Akagi. There was one mission in particular that stood out, in that mission Kit was leading a fire team planet-side and his squad was watching enemy squads from the high ground that were trying to reach flanking positions against other units and Kit had the opportunity to have the Akagi main guns rain down on enemy positions, leading to his Forward Observer skill. After serving on the Akagi, Kit had his first two off-world postings. a Police Action on Mertactor (which he was promoted to Captain and earned Medal for Meritorious Conduct Under Fire) and the command of a Counter Insurgency at a classified location within District 268 (which he earned the Medal for Conspicuous Gallantry). The Police Action on Mertactor was called the Platinum Police Action as the conflict was between the Imperium and Sword Worlds over a rich platinum mine that was found in the wilds of the planet with two ends of the same vein being discovered by the two different sides. The Counter Insurgency strike was performed agains the Sword Worlds, but the location is classified. After two years of intense conflict Kit had the opportunity to attend Staff College picking up skills in Admin and Computers.
During his third term he spend two years stationed on Aki with its large Marine base (once in the Garrison and once attending Commando School) and two more years onboard the Akagi, serving under Captain Erik Holmes where he commanded all shipboard Marines both times. Captain Holmes was a strong leader and military tactician and Kit picked up skills in both serving under Captain Holmes.
His fourth term started out great, attending Command College at the request of Captain Holmes and working more on Tactics and Leadership followed by the command of a classified raid within the District where he was promoted to Major. In the back half of his fourth term he was stationed twice more back on Glisten including the final year, when he ran house security for the House Seville. The final two years back on Glisten were just to much for him and he mustered out. Lord Stedan Seville, the Count of Glisten was happy enough with his work that he rewarded him with a Traveller’s Aid membership "just to make it easier to protect him".

Awarded from the Zhodani Consulate a Hero Medal Fourth Class with the Intelligence clasp to officers of the SEMC for their actions in the campaign that culminated so recently on Avastan

Kit has learned that the Hero medals rate in ascending order through classes one to ten with the lower denominations being common whilst Class 7 or 8 would rate as MCG equivalents.
