The Elven commune of Wrydwood is located in a narrow, densely forested valley that separates the crescent shaped Bogtown Southwoods that run northeast along the foothills of the Moon Peaks towards the frontier settlement from the westerly Basilisk Forest that borders the Blackwater River delta inhabited by lizardmen.
The population of Wrydwood is dwindling, the town has perhaps just two hundred adults permanently dwelling there, living in large cabins erected on the sides of the wide trunked Redwood and Weirwood trees.
On first view the town looks a pastoral paradise, arched walkways connecting lantern lit, treetop dwellings, spiralling staircases that wind around each trunk to the high canopy above. But a closer inspection reveals many properties lie derelict, damp moss rots much of the ground level buildings. Even the trees, once verdant hardwoods glorious in autumnal colours are rotting with blights and fungi. The village is dying a slow death.
The town is overseen by elder Patriachs of Silvanus and the learned sages of Arcantryl. Few ancillary buildings are about. There is no tavern, the blacksmiths forge embers long since snuffed out, no merchants shops. A few shacks house spartan traders offering the fruits of the forest, carpentry work, pelts and butchered meats of deer and crabs or lizards taken from the Moor.
A stable in the hollow of a tree and a community longhouse above serves as the most likely first port of call to any visitors.
