Are you allowing dual classing per the PHB? And are you just doing second level or a set # of XP's?

I was wondering about that too, since some of the more XP intensive classes might need enough to have some of the quicker ones maybe reach 3rd?

Yeah a 2nd level Barbarian is 6,001 xp which is at least 3rd level for all other classes and 4th level for the Assassin, Cleric, and Thief. The XP tables in 1E are very variable for sure. A dual class Fighter-Thief could be 2-3 or 3-2 and just 501xp away from 3-3. Multi-class characters would be strong options too. Maybe up to 6,001 xp with a max level of 2 in any class, start half way to next level if the 6,001xp allows? Not sure if there will be the opportunity to level up in this game but if there is the xp tables definitely don't favor the Barbarian even if you just start everyone at minimum for 2nd level.

Personally I'll probably end up playing a fighter or a thief there is the off chance I'll repeat myself and play a Gnome Cleric I did have such fun with that in the Waterdeep game all those years back on here.
