Torbath

“My thoughts exactly”, Torbath was going to offer to take the lead but lets the half-elf take the lead and carefully follows trailing by 10-15 feet.

Tugging on the vines has no effect, they appear to lay loosely on the ground.

Crawling through the tunnel is easy enough to do for the lightly clad duo, but after a few yards of tapping ahead into the low passage, a loud crashing commotion is heard ahead, and the sound of the voices abruptly stops.

The end of the tunnel and a small clearing can be seen up ahead, but there is no indication of who was doing the talking.

Andronichishche

He could only assume his tapping triggered a crude alarm, alerting those in the clearing to intruders in the tunnel. Given their vulnerability in the tight confines of the thicket, regardless if they retreated, it would prove quite easy for those in those in the clearing to attack them at range. Hoping it is indeed the hidden camp, he attempts to avert an ambush. "We come in peace!" He hollers aloud to the clearing's inhabitant's. "Mr. Randall sent us!"

Torbath

Since Torbath was planning to stay 10-15 feet behind Andron and he triggered it a few yards in I assume that Torbath is still at the entrance so he is looking around (down the tunnel and in both directions on the path)

A quiet male voice replies towards Andron from the clearing ahead.

“Who are you? How many? Do you have any food?”

Torbath sees nothing in the area near the tunnel entrance, barely making out the low voices ahead.

"My name is Andron. It is only myself and Mr. Torbath, behind me. We gave Mr. Randall fresh boar meat. He will bring some here after it is prepared and cooked."

Torbath

Torbath stays at the ready looking both ways, getting ready to chase after Andron.

Just in case you thought there wouldn't be any repercussions from killing Stoneguts.....

Sometime around midday after the large group headed to the river left town, several armed and armored dwarves head into Beachtown from the north.

Glansandi and his militiamen quickly move to intercept their advance, but are vastly outmatched and outnumbered. Knowing they will be cut down like summer grass if they attempt to face the dwarves in combat, the Constable is powerless to stop the invasion and lets them pass with minimal fighting resistance.

The Stoneguts march through town, harassing anyone who gets too close, physically threatening any aggressors with deadly violence. They enter business and take what they want without any mention of any compensation. They take all of Randall's latest supply of grog and any rum he didn't hide well enough.

Nobody is killed outright, but they round up a dozen able bodied young men and women, binding their hands and taking them as prisoners before leaving again. Mothers, fathers, friends, and kin scream and plead to no avail, worried that any physical interference will get them abducted as well. A skirmish breaks out that the dwarves quickly dominate, creating even more hostilities between the two parties.

36 dwarves are left behind at the structure they are building at the edge of the jungle. Half of those remaining begin work on the black stone building again while the other half maintains a guard over them. It is obvious that they no longer care about keeping their work a secret from anyone, and they quickly chase off anyone who comes around asking questions.

This invasion and abduction creates a rather depressing pall over all of Beachtown, causing most of the people who remain to stay inside, afraid to be the next ones to get taken away by the angry dwarves. Quite a few commoners pack up all of their items and head towards the group at the river, willing to risk the dangers rather than face such oppression. Any physical resistance ends in bloodshed, causing a few of those aggressors involved to flee town other than face their persecution. It is rumored that a small contingency of freedom fighters have assembled at a hidden clearing in the nearby jungle that so far the dwarves haven't discovered. The Stoneguts have made it very clear that anyone who kills one of their clan members will be hunted down and killed in revenge.
