Combat meanderings

#1 Post by Blackrazor »

Brain dump

All damage d6
On a natural 6 on d6 -exploding damage
Each six inflicts a wound or if multiple sixes on one damage roll a more severe wound.

D20 is an all or nothing mechanic. Yes harm inflicted No harm not inflicted. The severity of the attack is on the damage roll

So 20s don't crit.

Wounds give a penalty. Ex -1 to hit or damage or both, save penalty, skill check penalty
More untreated wounds more difficult to do stuff so penalties accrue.

Cure light wounds literally cures a wound
Higher level cure spell- cure more serious wounds

Fighters possibly gain the ability to increase severity exploding range so a 5 or 6 explodes maybe to a 4 in 6.

Roll d20 and d6 together
If a hit the d6 is damage
On a miss the d6 is a description of not inflicting harm - consult a chart?

Maybe the d6 is a fight economy

So damage d6s push score up. Higher score more combat superiority

Missing d6s lower combat superiority. May lead to opponent gaining the upper hand.

Armor class is technically avoid casualty as more goes into not being hurt in combat than just armor.

Mages wear armor but not ideal - training required?

Incentivize robes with bonus spells/abilities. Deep pockets, levitate,, dimension door or? or higher ac based on magic such as blurred, phased, ghost images?
Robe construction like spell construction. A magical investment (vestments ha!)

Armor Sundering to avoid wounds?

Exhaustion important. - create an exhaustion economy actions chores eat time n energy
See Crifoth.

Exhaustion economy- see Gamma world ed 1

Encounter checks
2d6 each die a different color
1 represents chance
1 represents event

Encounters could be wandering foes
Traps
Weather event
Dungeon event. Rock fall, ward failure, dank fetid air

Events could be more beneficial

3d6. Chance,event, good bad nautral?

Events can cause exhaustion or maybe a safe haven to rest?

Mapping encounters
Draw map add permanent but keep the rest in Flux

If encounter rolled. See encounter chart for that area and bam that's where the ogre camp is located if rolled.

Game world is more fluid but GM has some control bc they create the random charts per area.

World grows more naturally, more meaningful encounters maybe level of surprise
